고대 크레타 복식을 응용한 현대 복식 디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 인간생활, 사회생활의 표현이며 한 시대를 나타내는 시대정신의 표현이다. 인간을 소재로 하여 기술인 방법과 형태의 완성을 통해 인간의 정신과 생활을 표현하는 실제적인 생활예술로 한시대의 문화적 양식에 뿌리를 둔 사회적 행동중의 한 표현방법이다. 장시간에 걸친 의복에서의 반복되는 규칙성이나 변동을 살펴 봄으로써 현재의 스타일은 과거로부터 온 것이며 유행하는 의복 스타일은 속도의 차이가 있을뿐 계속 변화 되어왔음을 알 수 있다. 그러므로 고대 복식이면서도 신체에 밀착된 형태의 독특한 특징이 있고 현대 복식과 유사성을 가지고 있는 고대 크레타 복식을 연구함으로써 현재에도 과거의 독특한 양식이 새로운 모티브로 사용되어짐을 상기시키고, 현대감각에 맞게 새로운 감각으로 재창조하는 다양한 디자인 개발에 이 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이 연구는 B.C. 3000년부터 B.C. 1100년까지의 크레타 문명시기의 크레타 복식을 연구범위로 하며, 연구의 내용은 우선 크레타 시대의 복식에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하기 위하여 복식형태에 영향을 미치는 크레타 문명의 역사적 배경과 정치, 경제, 사회적 특성에 대하여 알아 보았고 크레타 시대 복식의 실물이 남아있는 것이 거의 없으므로 발굴 미술품에 대한 사진자료와 문헌연구를 통하여 크레타 복식의 형태적 특징을 알아보았다. 그리고 자료사진을 표집하여 크레타 복식과 유사성이 있는 현대복식의 디자인 사례를 살펴보았다. 연구방법으로는 관계문헌조사와 사진자료를 표집하여 크레타 복식에 나타난 특징을 분석한 후 그것을 토대로 작품을 제작하였다. 작품은 크레타 복식형태의 특징을 디자인 모티브로 하여 염색법, 파이핑기법, 꼴라쥬기법을 적용한 소재를 개발하여 총 8점의 실물작품을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째 : 고대 크레타 복식은 현대 복식과 유사성이 있는 독특한 특징을 가진 복식이므로 현대 복식에서의 응용가치가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째 : 복식사에서의 형태를 디자인 모티브로 도입하는 것은 다양한 측면에서 복식표현의 주제가 될 수 있고 이러한 주제를 통하여 과거와 현대와의 조화가 이루어짐을 알 수 있었다. 셋째 : 소재의 창의적인 개발을 함에 있어 파이핑 기법은 선 구성이 효과적으로 연출되어 장식적인 문양과 같은 효과를 나타낼 수 있었고 꼴라쥬 기법의 도입은 독특한 질감을 표현 할 수 있었다. 넷째: 수공예적인 표현기법을 도입한 소재개발과 실용적인 디자인을 조화시킴으로써 고부가가치의 복식을 창조하여 개성을 추구하는 현대인의 요구에 맞는 창의적이고 다양한 디자인 개발의 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있었다.;Costume is a manifestation of human, social life as well as an expression of the spirit of the times. As a practical life art representing human mentality and life through humanbeing as a subject matter, technical methods and completion of form, it is one expressional way of social behavior rooted in the cultural modes of one era. As we see the repeated regularity or change throughout the long history of clothing, current styles come from the past and fashionable dress styles have incessantly changed only with the difference of speed. Therefore, this study is to remind of the fact that fashion is repetitive and present new motives are brought from the unique modes of the past and to develop various designs refreshing enough to accord with modern sense by investigating ancient Cretan costume which holds an important position in the process of change in the history of Western costume, for it has unique modern characteristics despite of being an ancient clothing. As a theoretical background, features of Cretan civilization were analyzed mainly around the excavated ancient works of art due to the rarity of dress remnant. As a subject, photos that contain the characteristics of Cretan costume clearly were sampled as a datum to investigate design samples with unique Cretan fashion elements from post Renaissance to the present. As for the methodology, relevant literature were looked at and referential works were sampled for the theoretical background of this study after which peculiar characteristics of Cretan costume were analyzed, and based on that analysis, actual works were made. Setting the characteristical elements of Cretan costume as a motive, total eight works have actually been made. As the result of this study is as follows; First, ancient Cretan costume has a variety of expression in the aspect of pursuing aesthetic value and its unique features with modern sense are highly applicable to current clothing. Second, by harmonizing handi-craft techniques with practical design, unique and high-grade fashion can be created and creative diverse designs can be developed. Third, employment of a motive from the history of costume can yield certain themes in the costume expression, and through these themes, a harmony between the past and the present can be accomplished. Fourth, in actual making of work, quilting technique heightened the effect of cloth pattern, while chiffon and wool made unique textural quality possible as two materials with contrastive feeling.
