김수근의 건축작품을 응용한 장신구(Body Ornament)디자인

Abstract

인체장식(body ornament)은 의상이 발달되기 이전부터 사용되어져 왔으며 의상이 발달해 오면서 더욱더 다양한 모습으로 변화하였다. 오늘날은 미술의상의 등장과 더불어 3차원의 조각과도 같은 독립된 오브제로 존재할 수 있는 장신구의 시도도 많이 보여지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인체장식 중에서 의상의 발달과 더불어 인체와의 만남이 많아져 장신구의 새로운 조형 표현의 수단이 된 구두와 핸드백의 새로운 장신구 표현을 보여 주고자 한국인만이 갖고 있는 공간의식과 조형의식을 건축에 도입시켜 우리 건축의 미를 세계에 알린 김 수근의 건축작품을 응용하여 재창조된 전통의 이미지가 바탕이 된 구두와 핸드백을 표현하여 3차원의 조각품으로 영역이 확대된 장신구를 시도하여 보고 상업적 장신구에 있어 표현방법의 다양성도 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위한 이론적 배경으로는, 첫째, 원시시대부터 행해졌던 인체장식으로부터 현대까지의 장신구의 발달과정과 인체조각(body scuplture), 인체예술로의(body art) 장신구의 영역확대 과정을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 의상의 발달과 더불어 출현한 구두와 핸드백의 기원과 발달을 구두는 이집트에서부터 현재까지의 발달을, 핸드백은 앗시리아에서 현재까지의 발달과정을 각각 알아보았다. 또한 한국에서의 서양구두의 전래와 발달도 살펴 보았다. 세째, 구두와 핸드백에 김 수근의 건축 이미지 재조명을 위하여 작품세계와 건축사상을 알아 보았다. 작품은 실용성과 조형성에 입각한 7점과 조형성에 중점을 둔 2점으로 총 9점을 실물제작 하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 김 수근 건축에서 느껴지는 공간개념을 핸드백에 도입시켜 퍼지 백(fuzzy bag), 인터체인지어불 백(interchangeable bag)이라는 새로운 형태의 핸드백을 제안할 수 있었고, 3차원의 조각품으로 영역이 확대된 장신구도 보여줄 수 있었다. 둘째, 대중적이고 실용적인 가죽소재를 사용하여 조형성에 입각한 장신구 표현으로 상업적 장신구의 다양한 표현 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 세째, 전통이 재창조된 건축작품을 일반적인 장신구에 재조명하여 일반대중에게 우리 美의 우수성을 재인식시키는 계기를 마련할 수 있었다. 네째, 건축작품을 응용한 구두와 핸드백 연구를 통해 장신구 디자인에 있어서 표현영역을 확대시킬 수 있었다. 앞에서 서술한 바와같이 조형예술로써 장신구가 창조하고자 하는 작가의 의지에 따라 무한한 가능성을 가질 수 있고, 상업적 실용적인 장신구도 표현방법에 따라 독창적이고 개성적인 장신구가 될 수 있다. 그러나 여기서 우리가 간과해서는 않될 것은 건축가 김 수근과 같이 전통이미지의 현대적 재창조작업을 계속하여 우리 美의 우수성을 일반대중에게 재인식 시킴과 동시에 나아가 세계에도 한국 美의 아름다움을 알려 미래 조형예술에 있어 주역이 되어야 한다는 것이다.;Body ornaments have been already used even before the creation of clothings and changed variously as clothings have been developed. Nowadays, with the introduction of art costumes, many objects which can exist as independent objects like three-dimensional sculptures have been tried. Thus, the study as a new ornamental expression the shoe and handbag, because they become one of the new formative expressive tools as now they are used as frequently as clothes for ornamentation. And it is attempted not only to express the shoes and handbags based on the recreated traditional images applying sculptures by Kim, Su-geun, who shows the beauty of Korean architectures to the world by introducing the space concept and formative concep native to Korea to his architectures and make them a sort of scultures with three dimensions but also to suggest various expressive means for the commercial ornaments. The theoretical backgrounds for the study are as follows: First, the development course from the body ornaments used in the primitive ages to the modern ornaments and the expansion of ornaments fields to the body sculpture and body art are reviewed. Second, for the origin and development of shoes and handbags which were created with the development of clothes, the period from Egypt to the modern times and the period from Assyria to the modern times are explored respectively. In addition, the introduction and development history of Western shoes in Korea is looked into. Third, to highlight the Kim, Su-geun's architectural images in the shoes and handbags, his architectural works and thoughts are reviewed. For the study 9 pieces of works in total are manufactured, among which 7 pieces are based on practicability and formativeness and 2 are on formativeness. The results of this study are as follows: First, a fuzzy bag and an interchangeable bag, a new kind of bag, can be suggested by applying to the handbags the space concept felt from Kim, Su-geun's architectures, and ornaments can be manufactured with three-dimensional effects as in sculptures. Second, a variety of expressive possibility for the commercial ornaments can be suggested on the basis of formativeness using leather sources which are both popular and practical. Third, the application of traditionally recreated architectures to ordinary ornaments provides an opportunity to recognize our own merits anew. Four, the approach to shoes and handbags using architectural concepts enables to extend the expressive range in design. As mentioned before, he ornaments as a form of formative art can have infinite possibility for creation depending on the will of worker and the commercially practical ornaments can be unique or characteristic ones depending on the expressive methods. What we should not fail to point out is that it is we who have to make our effort to have the people recognize the merits of our own beauties and at the same time to show the Korean beauty to the world by recreating our traditional images in terms of modern fashions.
