Abstract
Expressionism dance, predicting the possibility of presenting inside world from the time of francois Delsasrt(1811 ∼ 1871) in 19th century, was led to Isadora Duncan(1878~ 1927) Rudolf von Laban(1879~1958) and Mary Wigman(1866∼1959) in dance, with its gradual methodology, and external, structural form was systemized accoridingly. Movement called expression started in early 20th century's Germany where every aspect of culture was chaotic and passionate. Expression means a step of movement predicting the recovery of humanity by expressing the inside world of self caused by isolation This study has a purpose to understand and develop the two expression skills through compatison as well as confirm their effect on history of dance theory and find the logical connection of [expession], by comparintg German dancer and educatior, Lanban's and Wigman's dance who were representative gifures in expressionism The study contents are that the form of their expression and the differnebce between their techniques are compared, by my examining the periodical background of the appearance of this German trend of literature, the establishment and pourpose of expressionism dance, and purpose of expressionism dance, and the dance philosophy, movement technique, shaping space, dance music and art of the two dancers, and their major works, As a result, Laban, German expressionist modern dancer, had superiority in shaping rhythm, and movement for movement itself. He showed his interest in 「dance without music」, 「shrinking and relaxing」, 「artificial space」, 「dance focused on education」, and 「outdoor stage」 to emphasize the importance of movement, and Wigman always put his gravity on self-expression to externally express Inside energy occuring in tile inside of 'the body. Wigman in the inside of the body. Wigman established aesthetic movement of tile body into new expression art to present individual inside world. His dance, with 「absolute dance」, 「strengthening and relaxing」, 「space」,「dance for expression」, 「using an experimental stage」, is different from Laban's in that he emphasized only liberal self-expression in dance However, the core of the two dancers were pursuing dance through various techniques focused on expression as well as movement. Today's modern dance has a trend to neglect combination with inside world because of making a lot of movements and meaningfuyl ones. This study, therefore, has a meaning to emphasize that the two factors, Laban's modeling rhythm and the superiority of movement itself, and Wignan's the aesthetic movement of the body for expressing Inside world, should be the basis of shaping new expressio art, under the understanding that the expression of art is delivery and sympathy.
