Aaron Copland의 <El Salon Mexico>분석 연구

Abstract

Aaron Copland (1900~ )는 현대 미국 음악을 주도해 온 대표적인 작곡가중의 한 사람이다. 20세기 전반에는 각 민족의 민속적인 음악에서부터 의미있는 요소들을 채택하고 있는 음악 양식이 계속해서 성장했으며 미국의 민족적인 음악은 천부적인 재능과 기술적인 훈련을 거친 Copland의 작품에서 통합되어 보여지고 있다. 째즈 어법과 불협화음, 화성적으로 복잡한 양식, 단순성, 전음계적인 화성, 민요의 소재등을 사용하여 미국의 목가적인 정신을 진지하고 간결하게 표현하고 있다. 이 논문의 목적은 1925년부터 1973년까지의 Copland의 작품 세계를 살펴보고, 그의 음악적인 발달 단계중 제3기-folk period에 속하는 El Salo´n Me´xico를 분석 연구함에 있다. 본 분석의 이론적 배경을 위해서 그의 작품을 변화시킨 요인과 특성을 통해서 4기로 구분하여 살펴보았으며, El Salon Mexico를 분석 연구한 결과는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 단 악장의 형식으로 멕시코 민요인 El Palo Verde, La Jesusita, El Mosco의 주제를 사용하여 주제 사이의 유사점들을 최대한 이용하여 실제의 민요가 기묘하게 그 형태가 바뀌어지고 흡수되며 독특한 Copland 자신의 선율로 표현되고 있다. 박자는 빈번이 바뀌며 불규칙적인 액센트와 비대칭적인 박자의 분할을 사용하여 흥분된 분위기를 자아내고, 리듬의 교묘함은 주목할만하다. 화성은 단순하며, 전음계적인 3화음에 광범위하게 기초하고, Polytonality를 효과적으로 사용하고 있다. 강약은 pp~fff에서 사용되며 곡의 대부분은 f의 음량을 갖는다. 관현악의 사용은 타악기를 배열하여 이국적인 풍취를 나타내고 있으며, 전체적으로 금관에 의해 지배받고 클라리넷이 중요한 솔로 악기로 사용되고, 바순이 선율을 연주하는 것이 특기할만 하다. 악기 사용을 신중하게 지시하여 멕시코 민속 음악의 특성을 잘 나타내주고 있다. Copland는 이러한 모든 요소들을 독특한 작곡기법으로 이 작품을 통하여 표현하고 있다.;Aaron Copland (1900-) is one of the representative Composers of contemporary American Music. In the first half of the 20th Century music which emphasises factors of each nations folk music grew in popularity. The works of Copland which are based on American folk music show his natural gifts and technical talents. Through the use of Jazz, dissonant chords, harmonically complex styles, simplicity, pandiatonical harmonies, and folk materials he expresses the natural feeling of American folk music. The purpose of this thesis is surveying Copland's works from 1925 to 1973 and analyzing the ' El Salon Mexico' that belongs to the third period of his musical developmental stage-the folk period. For the theoretical background of this study, factors and characteristics of Copland's works are used to divide them into four periods, after which they are examined. The result of this study of 'El Salon Mexico' is summarized as follows. He used the themes of Mexican folk music 'El Palo Verde', 'La Jesusita', 'El MOSCO' in a single movement form, and emphasized the similarities among these themes. As a result, the original music is cleverly changed and unified creating a unique work. The meters are frequently changed, and the irregular accent and asymmetrical compartment of meters create an exciting atmosphere, and the dexterous rhythm is Particularly noteworthy. The harmony is quite simple and based on a pandiatonical tried. Polytonality and bitonality are effectively used. The dynamic is utilized from pp to fff and most parts of his work have a musical range of f. Orchestration in this piece expresses exoticism through the distribution of percussion instrumentation. The work as a whole is controlled by the brass section, while the clarinet plays a solo role. This prudently dictated use of instruments emphasizes the characteristics of Mexican folk music. Copland, through his unique technique of composition, expresses all these factors in this work.
