수편기 Knit기법을 응용한 현대의상 디자인 연구

Abstract

현대 사회는 산업화, 기계화에 따른 자원고갈과 환경오염, 인간성 상실의 문제가 인류공통의 과제로 대두되고 있으며 패션은 시대 정신의 산물로서 이러한 사회현상을 반영한다. 최근 주된 패션 흐름이 자연주의, 복고주의적 경향으로 진행되어 온 결과 세계적으로나 국내적으로 패션계가 디자이너를 중심으로 독특한 개성적 표현을 중시하는 디자인 경향으로 니트가 새롭게 부활하고 있으며, 조형예술 분야에서도 니트가 도입되면서 예술성을 추구하는 작품들이 다양하게 제시되고 있다. 오늘날 니트 웨어에 대한 소비자들의 인식이 고급화되고 젊은 층이 새로운 수요층으로 부상하면서 감각적인 패션 니트로 확대되고 있으나 대부분의 국내 니트는 획일화된 대량 생산으로 디자인, 품질, 소재 등에서 개성을 추구하는 소비자들의 욕구에 부응하지 못하는 실정이다. 이에 해외 유명 브랜드의 니트가 독특한 캐릭터와 제품력으로 국내 시장을 잠식하고 있으며 소비자들은 이러한 수입 니트에 대한 높은 선호를 나타내고 있다. 이와 같이 어려운 여건속에서 국내 니트 업계는 독창적인 디자인 개발과 신소재 개발 등을 통해 고도의 부가가치를 창출할 수 있는 국제경쟁력을 갖기 위한 여러 가지 방안들이 다각도로 모색되어야 할 것으로 생각한다. 이에 본 연구는 소재와 디자인 개발의 중요성을 인식하면서, 한국 니트 산업의 발전과정에서 많은 역할을 하였으며 현대 니트 컴퓨터 자동화 기계의 모태가 되고, 조직의 원리에 가장 기본이 되는 수편기(Hand knitting machine)를 이용한 니트 디자인 및 소재의 개발, 조직의 질감 표현 연구를 통해 니트의 표현 한계성을 극복하고 조형예술로서의 니트 웨어를 개발, 표현하고자 하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 방법과 범위는 문헌 고찰을 통한 이론적 연구와 그것을 토대로 한 니트 의상의 작품제작으로 구성하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 고대로부터 발생한 니트의 역사를 핸드 니트에서 기계 니트에 이르기까지 광범위하게 조사하였으며, 다양한 니트 기법을 통할 수편기의 니트 조직과 종류 등을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 니트로 표현된 현대 의상을 국내외 패션 잡지의 자료사진을 통해 알아보았다. 작품 제작은 특수한 질감의 폴리에스터사와 광택나는 인견 Tape사, 금은 Tape사, 동선 등의 소재를 이용하여 수편기의 기본조직에서부터 변화된 특수 Plain 조직과 Tuck 조직, Skip 조직, Weaving 조직, Thread lace 조직 등의 질감을 연구개발 하였으며, Crochet도 가미하여 변화를 통한 시각적 표현을 강화하였다. 작품의 전체적인 스타일은 Slim & long의 A-line 실루엣이며, 작품의 색상은 기본적인 White와 Black 그룹, Ivory와 Olive green 계열, Brown과 산호빛 핑크 등 주로 중간 색조의 계열을 사용하여 수편기 니트 기법을 응용한 의상 실물을 총 8 작품 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 1. 소재에 따른 독특한 조직과 창의적인 질감을 개발함으로써 다양한 니트 디자인의 개발가능성을 발견할 수 있었으며, 니트가 조형예술로의 성격으로 그 표현영역이 확대될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 2. 동선을 사용함으로써 유연하고 신축성이 강한 니트 특성에 의한 형태 불안정의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 우븐 룩 (Woven look) 의 입체적 조형미를 창출하였다. 3. 수편기 니트 기법은 기본 조직외에도 무한한 조직 개발의 가능성을 가지고 있으며, 이러한 연구개발은 대내외적으로 니트 산업의 경쟁력 향상이 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 본다. 4. 작품 제작에 있어서 입체적 형태로 편직되는 풀 패션 (Full Fashion) 방법의 수편기 니트는 자동화로 대량생산되어 획일화된 니트 웨어와는 구별되는 것으로서 현대인의 개성적 자아표현의 심리적 욕구충족에 기여하는 고품격의 고부가가치 상품이 될 수 있을 것이다. 의복은 실용성과 예술성을 함께 추구하는 디자인이 되어야 함을 볼 때 소재에서도 미적 실용성이 강조되는 신소재가 개발된다면 제한적 소재에 대한 니트의 한계를 극복할 수 있을 것이며 이러한 작품도 실용화할 수 있음에 따라 진정한 니트 웨어의 발전을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.;Knits which have been in company with human civilization since the beginning of the human being reflect the trends of the fashion and human thoughts, and take a part of modern wearing culture as a item. I researched on the modern knit wear in terms of its patterns and textures for realizing its continuous progress and improvement. In this study I recognized the importance of textual representation accoding to the development of materials and patterns. Texture techinques of knit which has given birth to the modern computerized knitting machine, get to be able to express cubic formative beauty by selecting hand-knitting machine techniques, the most fundamental knitting principle. I made 8 pieces of works by using the availabe literature referring theoretical study, and the conclusion drawn from this research is as follows : 1. By developing particular patterns and texture I could find the possibility of diverse knit wear design 2. I can realize that the range of knit expression as a formative art can be enlarged because of creative designs based on materials 3. I created the cubic formative beauty of woven-look and the stability of fixed shapes which can overcome the limitation of instability in pattern caused by the characteristics of knit by using copper wire. 4. Besides basic pattern hand-knitting machine techniques have never-ending possiblity of pattern development, and this development would lead the improvement of competitiveness in knit industries. 5. Full fashion skills which use ways of knitting cubically can create high value-added commodity of high class satisfying desire of expressing personal identity in the modern life, and these skills are differnent from mass-produced and uniformized knit wears in the automized As we see above, knit wears adopting the techinques of hand-kintting machine can found the route to never-ending design development of knit wears by creating unique materials and texture depending on creative mindset. These pieces exclude a practical element by using copper wire when it comes to the aims of costume design which should search for practical and artistic elements. We will be able to expect the real improvement of knit wears as we utilize the alternative texture to be developed through diverse studies for textures.
