스페이스룩을 통한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

예술창조에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 오늘날의 급격한 환경변화와 기술 문명은 전통적인 예술개념을 초월하여 다양한 조형감각을 창출하였다. 산업혁명이후 과학의 원리가 산업기술에 응용됨에 따라 각종의 신소재 (新素材) 의 출현을 가져왔고, 지금까지 인식되었던 한정(限定)된 개념의 상당부분이 연장되어 인류의 활동영역도 지구상에서 우주공간까지 확장되었다. 냉전시대의 경쟁논리 속에 60년대 치열하게 벌어졌던 미·소 (美·蘇) 간의 우주경쟁은 우주에 대한 인간의 상상력을 가중시켰다. 마침내 69년 7월 미국의 닐 암스트롱이 달에 첫발을 디디면서 인간의 오랜 꿈은 실현되었다. 이러한 우주시대의 개막은 패션에 커다란 영향을 주었으며, 그 결과 스페이스 룩이 등장하게 되었다 피에르가르뎅, 앙드레꾸레쥬, 파코라반등은 대표적 스페이스룩 디자이너들로 금속이나 비닐 등의 소재로 스페이스룩을 선보여 복식의 새로운 형태미의 가능성을 열어주었다. 또한 지금까지 이러한 소재의 유연성과 무게의 단점을 보완하는 신소재에 대한 연구가 계속되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 연구 노력에 편승하여 현대패션에 나타난 스페이스룩을 고찰하여 새로운 조형미를 유출해 냄으로써 새로운 복식디자인을 개발하고, 가능성을 제시하며 특수복에 국한된 소재를 패션에 적용함으로써 미래의 의복 문제를 해결하기 위한 창조적인 연구 방법을 모색하는데에 있다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로 스페이스룩의 개념과 발생배경을 정립하고 예술에 나타난 우주적인 이미지를 문헌 및 사진자료를 통해 정리하였다. 또한 현대 패션에 나타난 스페이스룩의 조형적 특성과 내적표현성을 수집, 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 총 8작품이 제작 되었고 작품의 소재는 입체공간 표현에 적합하고 스페이스 요소가 잘 보여지는 네온칼라와 매끄러운 표현들이 미래적인 터치가 가미된 본딩소재를 중심으로 사용하였다. 그리고 금속징, 비닐, 은색 퀼팅등으로 미래지향성과 우주의 시각적으로 볼 수 있는 은하계, 별자리, 토성 등을 작품에 표현 하였다. 이것은 지금까지의 스페이스패션에서 나타난 조형적 특성에 우주의 시각적인 이미지를 부여하고 새로운 조형미를 유출해냄으로써 스페이스룩의 창조적이고 개성적인 복식미의 창출의 가능성을 제시하는데 의의가 있다. 작품제작을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스페이스룩은 규칙적이며 단순명료한 감각을 줄뿐아니라 합리성까지 표현하는 기하학적 구성과 기계적인 운동감과 속도감을 통해 움직임이 강한 조형성을 표현하고 기계생산에 의한 새로운 재료로써 복식소재의 한계를 벗어났으며, 은, 금속 등 광택나는 색감과 디지털미디어의 그래픽 색채를 도입함을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 테크놀러지를 통한 미래세계를 실현하기 위한 미래지향성을 내포하고 전자매체에 의한 인간의 확장을 경험하며 그것을 통해 초현실성을 이룩함을 알았다. 셋째, 본딩소재는 우주공간의 조형 이미지에 맞추어 주관적으로 변형시킨후 이를 개성있게 표현하는데 효과적이었으며 우주의 시각적인 이미지를 장식적인 모티브로 나타내기위한 금속징, 비즈, 은사·비닐 등의 사용은 스페이스패션을 표현하는데 있어서 적절한 표현 기법이었다고 사료된다. 넷째, 스페이스룩을 독특하고 개성있게 표현 할 수 있는 우주의 시각적인 산물의 모티브는 무한하며 다양한 복식디자인 창출의 가능성을 갖고있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이것은 현대복식에 나타난 스페이스룩의 조형적 특성에 우주의 시각적인 이미지를 부여하여 새로운 조형미를 유출해 냄으로써 창조적이고 개성적인 복식미 창출의 가능성을 제시하는데 의의가 있다.;Modern time is said to be the age of science and technology. Since the industrial revolution, several kinds of new materials have apperaed by the scientific to industrial skills, and most part of extreme concept has been expanded, and human geings' activity area has also been widened from the earth to outer space. A space race between Anerica and Russia in 1960s elevated human inagination on the universe. Fianlly, an Anerican, Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon in July, 1969. which realized human dream of space. should find beauty more poistively. A space uniform is obviously or kind of clothes, but even people who wear it are often condisered to be an 'industrial product' of a 'trailer'. Actually, clothes designing, industrial product designing, and residence designing mean each dirrerently sepcialized field, but somethimes it is difficult to divide them exactly. Some space-look designers like Pierre Gardin, Andre Courege, and Pacoraban have attempted to eliminate the strict classification of fashion, and this attempt have been incessantly an issue to the fashion circles. Introduction of space-looks made of such materials as metal and vinyl opened a possibility of new formative beauty of clothes. And from that time to the present, studies on new materials that can supplement the pliability and drawback of weight have continued. The purpose of this study, as a part of such studying efforts, is to investigate space-looks in the contemporary fashion, develop new fashion designs and present some possibilities, and finally to explore creative research methodologies for applying materials restricted to special dress to fashion and solving possible problems of fashion in the future. As a theoretical background of this study, concept and origin of space-look were examined and cosmic images appeared in the arts were collected and arranged through reference to the literature and photographical data. And the formative characteristics and quality of inner expression of the space-looks in modern fashion were sampled and analyzed. Base on these, total 8 works were made using mainly bonding materials which are proper to express the three-dimensional space with their neon colours that reveal space elements well and future touches for smooth expression. And with metal stud, vinyl, and silver quilting, visual shapes in the cosmos such as the galactic system, constellations and saturn so on, and images of future-orientation were expressed upon the formative characteristics of space fashion and presenting the possibility of creating unique, creative beauty of space-look through extraction of new formative beauty. And the conclusion obtained through work-making is as follows : First, the author of this study thinks that it is an artist's task to receive the artistic inspiration from cosmic space and to elevate that inspiration to a certain beauty. The infinite images of cosmos can be used as a form or motif for fashion to express new sense of beauty and mystery harmonized with man. Second, bonding materials were effective in transforming subjectively to the formative images of cosmos and later representing them uniquely, and using materials such as metal stud, beads, silver , and vinyl is proper to produce space fashion. Third, the motif's role is unlimited in expressing a space-look uniquely and characteristically, and it is certain that it has a possibility of creating various fashion designs. Thus, the significance lies in the granting the visual images of the cosmos upon the formative characteristics of space fashion and presenting the possibility of creating unique, creative beauty of space-look through extraction of new formative beauty.
