금융환경변화에 따른 외국은행 국내지점의 영업활동분석 및 경영전략에 관한 연구

Abstract

The capital accumulation of Korea was marked by government-leading characteristics. The government fostered heavy industry for export, which it perceived as the goal of policy. Under this situation, Korean government welcomed foreign banks for diversification of loans and foreign investment. This advantageous environment, which guaranteed foreign banks in Korea stability as well as profitability, resulted in rapid growth of their share in financial market. However, the changes in internal and external environment which arose from 1980s brought forth the changes of the relations between foreign banks in Korea and Korean banks from complementary to competitive one. More of foreign banks in Korea now faces new banking environment as well. This study aims at explaining some major characteristics of foreign banks by analyzing the source and use of their funds and analyzing the reason of the high profitability of foreign bank branch in Korea since any privilege and preferential treatment for them has abolished. It is to review the changes in International and Korean financial market, and to formulate a bustiness strategy for foreign banks.;본 논문의 목적은 현재 금융의 범세계화, 자유화, 증권화와 같은 국제 금융 환경 변화와 규제완화와 시장개방에 따른 한국내 긍융 환경 변화하의 외국은행 국내지점의 영업활동 분석을 통하여 특혜와 우대조치가 축소되었는데도 아직 시중은행에 비해 높은 수익률의 원인을 살펴보고, 한국 경제에 미친 공과를 고찰하고자 한다. 또한, 그동안 국내 은행보다 비교적 자유롭게 영리를 추구해 온 외국은행 국내 지점이 개방화라는 금융 환경 변화에 어떻게 효율적으로 대처하고, 자율과 경쟁을 바탕으로 한 새로운 금융 풍토 하에서 수익 기반의 안정과 건실한 성장을 위해 그들이 채택할 수 있는 경영전략을 거시적인 안목에서 접근해 보고자 하였다. 먼저 Ⅱ장에서는 최근 금융의 국제화, 자유화, 증권화 현상과 그에 따른 구조적인 변화, 또 이에 대응한 국내 금융 환경 변화, 위의 변화가 은행 산업에 있어 어떤 영향을 끼칠 것인가를 전망해보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 1960년대 후반이래 외자도입 창구로서의 역할에서부터 시작해 이제는 국내 은행의 경쟁자로서 꾸준히 성장해 온 외국계 은행의 공과를 분석해 보았다. 먼저 국내에 진출한 외국은행의 진출 상황 및 특징을 살펴보고 그들의 영업 현황을 시장점유율상의 특징, 자금 조달과 운용 및 수익 구조상의 특징, 경영관리상의 특징을 알아본 후, 그들이 한국의 금융 산업에 미친 경제적 파급효과도 알아보았다. Ⅳ장에서는 위에서 논의한 은행 산업에 있어서의 규제완화와 금융자율화, 금융시장 개방이 외국은행에 어떤 영향을 끼치며, 그들이 받아왔던 규제 및 우대 조치의 축소를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이러한 여러 가지의 업무 환경 변화에 대하여 외국은행 국내지점들도 그들 수익의 적정화를 위하여 새로운 경영전략을 수정해야 할 시점임을 강조하였는데 그에 대한 대응전략으로는 지점 철수 전략, 도매업무 치중전략인 현상태 유지전략, 소매업무 확대전략, 대형화 전략, 업무의 다각화 전략, 정보전달 네트워크의 구축 등을 들 수 있다
