오리엔탈리즘 관점에 의한 대나무패턴의 현대화 연구

Abstract

Recently, the main stream of history is science and a motive of science is speed. People Living in today is thinking about the reason why they live too speedy. Because they live in the circumstance which requires highly mandatory life style. Being in urban area all the times, sometimes they want to be in a simple, pure, calm circumstance. These kinds of tedency are considered that they are going to pursue their own way which will find oriental sprit escaping from materialism originated in western countries with respect to aesthetics. In this thesis, various sorts of patterns have been developed using bamboo which is one of the natural design sources. It has been analyzed and researched for establishing design concepts. To formalized the image of bamboo, study references and investigate the inside and outside images. According to those studies, represent the sensitivity of bamboo indirectly on the point of orientalism. The research for this thesis was proceeded by following steps. First, Study the examples which were reflected today for grasping the concepts and streams of orientalism. Second, understand the symbolism and formalism of bamboo and Observe the motives which were needed for designing creative images through used patterns in previous design. Third, research the methods for representing modernized patterns of bamboo using diverse kinds of patterns , arrangement, techniques through computer graphics. Firth, propose the possibility for improving and developing textile commodity which was developed by digital printer for fabric printing. Judging from these point of view, eventually conclude following substances. First, reorganizing developed and analyzed images in the point of orientalisms, Verify the possibility of modernized design which is corresponding in this period. Second, represent various material quality, colors, and patterns in oriental and Korean motive using computer techniques and get effective result which could not represent detail images because of complicated requirements due to digital printing system. Third, represent up-to-date oriental images importing moderation, pureness, philosophy and nature in design concept and excluding ornament and design techniques. In this research, inquiry modernization of patterns applying to oriental motive from images of bamboo and present the method of developing creative design which can make high-valued goods in the realities emphasizing design concepts.;최근까지 역사의 주류는 과학이었고 과학의 모토는 스피드였다. 이렇게 스피드하게 변해가는 사회에서 현대인들은 '왜 이렇게 살아야하는가 하는 의문이 들때가 있을 것이다. 사람들은 가끔은 복잡함, 화려함, 과장됨, 시끄러움등에서 벗어나 단순하고 순수하고 조용한 것들을 원하고 있으며 안정과 건강, 환경을 지향하고 있다. 이러한 경향은 서양의 물질적 사고방식에서 벗어나 동양적이고 자연주의적인 조화를 중심으로 하는 동양의 정신의 핵심으로 이해되며 물질에 대한 욕심을 버리고 정신적인 곳에서 행복의 근원을 찾고자 하는 현대인의 탈출구 역할을 한다. 본 논문은 이러한 전제하에 동양을 상징하는 자연물인「대나무」를 이용하여 다양한 패턴의 디자인을 전개하여 대나무 패턴의 현대화를 연구하였다.「대나무」의 특성상 다양한 형태와 모습들을 미학적인 측면에서 분석하고 관찰함으로써 이에따라 디자인 개념을 도출하고자 했다. 한국인의 의식속에 나아가서는 오리엔탈리즘의 표현매개체로써의 대나무의 이미지를 형상화 하기 위해 참고자료 및 문헌을 조사하고 그러한 조사를 바탕으로 오리엔탈리즘적 관점에서 느껴지는 대나무에 대한 감성을 간접적으로 도출했다. 본 연구자의 연구는 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행되었다. 첫째, 근세에 주목받고 있는 오리엔탈리즘의 개념과 역사적 흐름을 파악하기 위해 문헌적 고찰을 통해 이론적 이해와 현대에 반영된 예를 찾아 보았다. 둘째, 대나무의 상징성과 조형성을 이해하고 기존의 디자인에 사용된 패턴의 예를 통해 새로운 디자인에 필요한 모티브를 살펴보았다. 셋째, 다양한 패턴의 종류와 배열형식, 기법을 통해 대나무 패턴이 모던하게 표현될 수 있는 방법을 연구하고 컴퓨터 그래픽을 이용해 디자인 하였다. 넷째, 최첨단 원단용 디지털 프린터기를 이용해 작업하고 결과물을 통해 상품화 가능성을 살펴보고 디자인의 개선점과 발전 가능성을 제안하고자 하였다. 이러한 작품제작 과정을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 내렸다. 첫째, 「대나무」라는 자연물에서 그것을 분석, 연구하여 발전된 이미 지를 오리엔탈리즘적 관점으로 재구성함으로서 시대상황에 맞는 현대적 디자인이 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 동양적이고 한국적인 모티브를 컴퓨터라는 필연적 도구를 이용해 질감, 칼라, 패턴등을 다양하게 표현할 수 있었고 실제 프린팅 작업에서도 첨단 디지털 프린팅 시스템을 이용해 기존에 표현하기 어려웠던 다양한 요구조건을 능률적이고 효과적으로 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, 장식성과 기교를 최대한 배제하고 절제, 순수, 철학, 자연을 디자인 개념에 도입하여 새로운 동양적 이미지를 표현할 수 있었다. 이상과 같이 본 연구자는 이번 연구를 통해「대나무」라는 하나의 동양적인 모티브를 통해 현대화 가능성을 타진하여 보았으며 오리엔탈리즘을 현대적으로 표현하기 위한 다른 모티브의 이용가능성도 검증하였다. 그와 함께 상품의 고부가가치를 위해 디자인의 의미와 컨셉의 중요성이 점차 커져가는 현실에서 창의적인 디자인의 개발을 제시하고자 하였다.
