서울시내 고등학교 2학년 학생들의 자원봉사활동 실태 조사

Abstract

Today's industrialization, urbanization, scientific civilization are developed at such a rapid rate that they caused various kinds of social problems. And it is important that the citizens participate in solving the problems and in preventing them. As the time passes by, the wrong behavior of the adolesent increase and a various kinds of immoral crime increases. Then, instead of injecting knowlege into the students, it's more important that we should educate the students in humanity which is based on practice. In this term, social, social studies which is coursed so as to bring up democratic citizens is very important. Considerly our reality, it's very difficult that we cultivate the men of democratic civilian who have a proper quality and atitude because social studies in school tend to transport a knowlege. It seems that voluntary activity compensate for these problems, that has been practised since 1995. The purpose of this study is to analyze these problems and to suggest a direction of improving democratic civilianism by realities of voluntary activity. To achieve this purpose, the survey that is based on the high school students, 620 of the second grade, is practiced and handed in. the content of the survey are demographic characteristics, the opinion of voluntary activity, the questions involved in qualities of democratic citizens, and so on. The method of analyzing the data is by checking u the frequency of them basically and using the t-test analysis whit a view to analyze the difference of average between two groups, additionally, to analyze the relationship of a variables. The results of this study analysis are as follows. First, students and their parents recognized that it's not neccessary that they participate in voluntary activity as civilian but alternative in case they are available in time, or economical terms only to enter the higher school. Second, the 61.8% of the students who take part in survey said that they have experienced voluntary activity. It is relatively high proportion they said that they participated in voluntary activity on account of the school oblization for voluntary activity. Third, it seems that they are not satisfied with the experience in the public offices, but satisfied with the person need voluntary activity. Fourth, It is the 16.0% of the students that are educated in references to voluntary activity, and most of education is practiced before participating in voluntary activity, and is in the public offices if beneficial to their volutary activity. Th 45% of them admitted the neccessity of voluntary education in refer to voluntary activity, and take a affirmative view of them. Fifth, in reference to democratc citizen, where they participate in education of voluntary activity or not have influence on the differences of qualities between before and after participation in voluntary activity. Sixth, it seems that the grade of democratic citizen is more improved after participation in voluntary activity than before when they consider voluntary activity to be important and to be done neccessarily. As a result, it is neccessary that they be affirmative view of voluntary activity, the public office pay attention to the volunteer and understand them. Also they need to develop proper course or program to offer a oppotunity of good experience. Additionally, a adequate education is requested to practiced, the teacher in charge of voluntary activity is requested to be trained for the purpose of improving student voluntary activity.;오늘날 고도의 산업화, 도시화, 과학문명의 급격한 진행은 다양한 사회문제를 발생시켰고 이를 해결하고 예방하기 위한 시민의 참여가 중요하게 대두되었다. 각종 비윤리적 범죄가 날이 갈수록 그 강도가 높아지고 있고 이와 관련된 청소년들의 비행 또한 증가하고 있는 지금, 지식 중심의 현행 교육방법에 실천중심의 인성교육을 보완하는 것이 무엇보다 절실하다 할 수 있다. 이런 측면에서 볼 때 바람직한 민주시민 양성을 주된 목적으로 하는 사회과는 오늘날 그 책임이 막중하다 할 수 있다. 그러나 우리나라의 현실을 감안할 때 학교에서의 사회과 교육은 입시를 위한 지식 전달이 중심이 되어 민주시민으로서의 바람직한 자질이나 태도를 형성하는 것이 거의 이루어지기 힘든 것이 사실이다. 이러한 문제점을 보완해 줄 수 있다고 여겨지는 것이 1995년 이후 실시되고 있는 중고등학교의 자원봉사활동이다. 본 연구에서는 민주시민교육의 일환으로서 자원봉사활동의 실태조사를 통해 자원봉사활동이 점수화되고 있는 현실에서 어느 정도 자원봉사활동의 목적을 실현할 수 있는가를 파악하고 보완점을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울특별시 강남구내 고등학교 2학년 학생 약 620명을 무작위 선정하여 설문조사를 하였고 총 599부가 회수되었다. 설문조사의 내용은 사회인구학적인 특성, 자원봉사활동에 대한 견해, 자원봉사활동 관련 교육, 자원봉사활동 참여 경험, 민주시민성 자질 관련 문항등이다. 자료분석방법은 자료 형태와 내용에 따라 기본적으로 빈도분석을 이용하였고, 두 집단간의 평균 차이를 분석하기 위해 t검증(t-test)을 이용하였다. 또한 각 변수간의 관계를 분석하기 위해 상관관계 분석을 하였다. 그리고 회귀분석은 연속 변수 또는 모조 변수 형태인 여러 개의 독립변수와 연속 변수 형태인 종속변수간의 관계를 파악하기 위해 사용되었다. 연구 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학부모와 학생모두 자원봉사활동의 의의에 대해 시민의 의무로서 반드시 해야 한다기 보다 시각적, 경제적 여유가 있거나 학교진학을 위해 수동적으로 참여하는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 전체 연구대상 599명 중에서 실제로 자원봉사활동에 참여한 경험이 있다라고 응답한 사람은 61.8%로 높은 비율을 차지했다. 자원봉사활동에 참여하게 된 동기로는 학교에서 의무적으로 하도록 정하고 있기 때문에 참여하게 되었다는 응답이 가장 많았다. 셋째, 기관에서의 경험은 대체로 만족스럽지 못한 것으로 나타났고 반면에 대상자와의 경험은 만족스러운 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 자원봉사활동 관련 교육을 받은 경험이 있는 사람은 16.0%(96명)로 아주 적은 비율을 차지했고, 교육시기는 자원봉사활동 참여 전이 가장 많았다. 교육을 받은 장소로는 자원봉사활동 기관이 대부분이었고 교육내용이 자원봉사활동에 도움이 되었다는 긍정적 응답이 많았다. 자원봉사활동과 관련된 교육의 필요성에 대해 연구대상의 약 45%가 자원봉사활동 관련 교육의 필요성에 대해 긍정적인 견해를 갖고 있었다. 다섯째, 민주시민성 자질 관련 내용에서는 유경험자의 경우, 참여 이전의 자질 점수와 이후의 자질 점수의 차이에 성별, 성별, 종교, 자원봉사활동 관련 교육경험 유무가 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 기관에서의 경험이 긍정적일수록, 연구대상 본인이 자원봉사활동을 사회에 필요한 것이므로 누구나 반드시 해야 하는 것이라고 생각할 때, 민주시민성 관련 11가지 항목이 모두 참여 이전보다 참여 이후의 자질점수가 높아지는 것으로 나타났고, 이는 책임의식관련 항목의 경우도 동일하게 나타났다. 또한 자원봉사활동 참여경험에 대한 만족도에 대해서는 기관에서의 경험이 긍정적일수록, 연구대상 본인이 자원봉사활동을 사회에 필요한 것이므로 누구나 반드시 해야 하는 것이라고 생각할 때 만족도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 종교가 있을 때, 대상자와의 경험이 긍정적일 때 만족도가 역시 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상과 같은 결과를 볼 때 우선 자원봉사활동에 대한 긍정적인 견해를 갖는 것이 중요하고, 관련 기관에서는 긍정적인 경험을 제공할 수 있도록 자원봉사자들에 대한 관심과 이해, 적절한 봉사 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 필요하다. 또한 자원봉사활동의 효과를 높이기 위해 적절한 교육이 필요하며 이러한 교육은 기관과 학교 모두에서 이루어져야 하고 기관과 학교간의 지속적인 연계가 이루어지는 것이 바람직하다. 그리고 학교에서의 자원봉사활동 교육을 위해 전담 교사를 선정하고 연수를 하는 것이 필요하다.
