고등학교 공통 과학의 '생명'단원에 대한 STS 수업이 학생들의 과학적 탐구 능력에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop STS progams and evaluate it's effects on the students' ability of scientific process. Six STS prgrams were developed for '5. Life' chapter of high school general science textbook under the sixth revised curriculum. And then those were practiced in high school in Kuang-moung city. The subjects consisted of 189 students at 10th grades and divided into 2 experimental groups and 2 control goups. Experimental groups were taught by the STS strategy including 6 STS programs and control groups were taught by the traditional instruction for four weeks. The result of this study can be summarized as follows 1. STS program didn't have an effect on the student's avility of scientific process(P>.05). 2. The low level students of the experimental group have significantly improved on scientific process avility in comparison with the high level students(P<.05), but have not improved in comparison with the low level students of the control group(P>.05). 3. There was no difference between the sexs using of STS program(P>05). 4. The students showed positive reactions to the contents and ways of STS oriented instruction and wanted to be taught continuously in that way.;본 연구는 현재 과학 교육의 전 세계적인 흐름인 STS 교육에 관한 연구로, STS 프로그램을 개발하고 교육 현장에서 적용한 후 학생들의 과학적 탐구 능력면에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것을 그 목적으로 하였다. 현재 제 6차 교육 과정하의 고등학교 공통과학 '5. 생명' 단원에 모듈식으로 사용할 수 있는 6개의 STS 수업 프로그램과 각 해당 단원에 대한 탐구 능력 검사지를 개발하였다. 연구 대상은 광명시에 위치한 인문계 고등학교 1학년 학생 189명으로 하였으며 학생들을 실험 집단과 통제 집단의 두 집단으로 나누었다. 사전-사후 검사 설계를 사용하여 실험 집단은 개발 된 STS 수업을, 통제 집단은 전통적 강의 중심의 수업을 1998년 3월 16일부터 1998년 4월 13일까지 4주동안에 9차시 실시하였다. 수업처치 전후로 과학적 탐구 능력을 측정하였으며 SAS를 이용한 공변량 분석을 한 후, STS 수업에 대한 효과를 알아 본 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. STS 자료를 활용한 수업은 과학적 탐구 능력 향상에 유의미한 효과를 보이지 않았다(p>.05). 2. 실험집단내의 탐구 능력에 대한 사전 검사에서 '하'수준인 학생들이 '상'수준인 학생들에 비하여 과학적 탐구 능력에 유의미한 향상을 보였으나(p<.05), 통제 집단의 '하'수준의 학생들과 비교해 보았을 때는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>.05). 3. STS 수업에서 성별에 따른 탐구 능력의 변화는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>.05). 4. STS 수업에 대한 설문 조사에서 학생들은 수업 방식이나 내용에 대해 긍정적인 반응을 보였으며 계속적으로 STS 수업을 받고 싶어했다.
