전통건축공간의 위상기하학(topology)적 분석과 공간디자인에의 적용에 관한 연구

Abstract

To understand the present multilateral cultural crisis, we need to take a look at the current situation with vision in terms of cultural evolution of human. We have to observe our culture at intervals of several thousand years and understand the dynamic changes rather than the stability of social canstructure. The cultural changes we are experiencing are happening faster than in the past. These changes are universal and we find then most dramatic because several main changes have occurred at the same time. These cultural changes cannot be avoided Therefore, we should welcome these changes as the only exit from anguish and destruction rather than refuse them. This attitude is very important to environmental designers. That is because the concept of environmental art not only reflects the concept of the whole society, but also has an influence on then Thus, this study adapted Topology, which is a branch of mathematics, for a new way to support humane activities. This study has observed our traditional architecture from a viewpoint of Topology to establish the value and identity of our culture based on universality which includes both globalism. and nationalism. Through this effort, this stusy intend to overcome the breach between human and environment and explore the possiblities to apply this study to a new environmental design. This study has been carried out in te following way. 1. This study mean to approach Topology in an easier way by taking adaptation of and examining the Mo¨bius strip for a way to understand the basic concept and theory of Topology. 2. Since Topology is the western study, the cantrasts and similarities between the west and the orient has been studied by adapting "Yi" which is one of the main oriental ideologies. Moreover, the relative values of Topology and Korean traditional ideology have been studied to understand the correlation between the Korean traditional ideology and the Mo¨bius strip. 3. Topology, not taking unchangeable distance, angle, and size into account, is based an proximity, seperation, order, continuity, and closure, which are the elements of psychology of Gestalt. These five elements have been explained respectively and the correlation of spacial construction in architecture has been examined. 4. The construction of inner and outer space in the traditional architecture has. been analysed topologically by taking examples and the framework of standard for the application process of design has been set up. 5. This study has been cancluded by drawing, evaluating and scrutinying the design and the method of spacial-planning, which lead to the conceptional value and the formative value drown from the experimental application process in the spacial object based on the respective frame of standard. Tribalism has emerged as the Globe has became one, and seperation due to the national and group interest has been accelerated as the economic integration has progressed. It is very important to establish the value and identity of our own culture in this modem society. That helps us to conceive ourselves as the subject of our culture, to truely understand our own culture and to find a way to establish and preserve the culture. This paper has meant to explore contemporary and artistic value of our traditional culture by adapting Topology to architecture.;현재의 다면적인 문화위기를 이해하기 위해서는 광범위한 시야를 가지고 인류 문화진화의 맥락에서 우리의 현황을 보아야 할 필요가 있다. 우리들은 20세기의 말에서부터 수천년에 걸친 기간의 간격을 두고 전망을 하여야 하며, 정적(靜的)인 사회구조의 개념으로부터 역동적인 변화 패턴을 인식해야 한다. 우리가 현재 경험하고 있는 문화의 변형은 우리 시대의 변화속도가 과거 어느때보다 빠르고, 변화가 전 세계적인 광범위한 것이며 또한 수개의 주요 전이가 동시에 발생하고 있기 때문에 이전의 어떤 것보다 극적이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 문화적 변형은 저지될 수 없는 것으로 거부하기보다는 오히려 고뇌와 파멸로부터의 유일한 탈출구로서 환영해야 할 것이다. 이러한 태도는 환경디자이너들에게 있어서 무엇보다도 중요하다. 왜냐하면 환경예술의 표현에 담겨져 있는 의식은 전체사회의 의식을 반영하고 있을 뿐 아니라 다시 그것에 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 인간행태를 지원하기 위한 새로운 접근방법으로 수학의 한 분야인 위상기하학이라는 타학문의 접근을 통해, 세계주의(Globalism)와 민족주의(Nationalism)가 공존하는 보편성 위에서 자문화의 가치와 정체성을 확립하기 위해 우리의 전통건축공간을 위상기하학적 관점으로 살펴보아 인간과 환경사이의 단절을 극복하고 이에 대한 새로운 환경디자인에의 적용가능성을 확대하고자 하는 다학문적 성격을 띤 연구로 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 1. 객관적이고 보편적인 이론의 배경으로 위상기하학의 개념과 그 이론의 기본이 되는 하나의 매개로 뫼비우스띠를 수용하여 고찰함으로써 위상기하학이라는 난해한 학문에 더욱더 쉽게 접근하고자 하였다. 2. 위상기하학이 서양적 학문이라는 측면에서 동양 사상의 대표가 될 수 있는 역(易)을 수용하여 동양과 서양의 상반성과 관계성을 고찰하고 나아가 한국전통사상과 뫼비우스띠와의 상관성을 이해하여 위상기하학과 한국전통사상간의 상대적 가치를 이해하도록 하였다. 3. 위상기하학(Topology)이란, 불변의 거리와 각도, 면적을 문제로 삼지 않고 Gestalt 심리학의 요소인 접근(Proxiouity), 분리(Separation), 질서(Ordered), 연속(Continuity), 폐합(Closure)이라는 여러 관계에 기초를 두어 이 다섯가지 요소를 항목별로 설명하고 건축공간구성의 상관성을 고찰하고자 하였다. 4. 전통건축공간에서 내부공간과 외부공간의 구성 사례를 제시하여 위상기하학적으로 분석하고 본 연구의 디자인 적용과정의 전개를 위한 준거의 틀을 추출한다. 5. 추출된 각 준거의 틀에 기초한 대상공간에서의 실험적 적용과정을 통하여 개념적 가치와 조형적 가치 등으로 연결되는 디자인과 공간계획 방법을 도출하고, 평가·검토함으로써 연구의 내용을 마무리한다. 세계가 하나로 되어 가고 있는 세계화 속에 종족주의(tribalism)가 대두되고, 경제적 통합화(integration)속에 국가적, 집단적 이기로 분열화가 촉진되고 있는 시대 속에서 자문화의 가치와 정체성을 확립하는 것이 중요한 문제이다. 이는 한 문화의 주체로서의 인식을 가지고, 자문화를 바로 이해하며 또한 그것을 어떻게 확립하고 보전하는가에 의해 그 가치가 실현될 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 위상기하학이라는 타학문이 건축과의 접목으로 인해 새로운 시대적·미적 감각에 대해 인정받을 수 있는 보편적 가능성을 내재한 우리문화고유의 가치를 발견해 내고자 하는데 연구의 의의를 두었다.
