반복에 의한 직물패턴 연구

Abstract

현대 디자인은 대량 생산체제와 대중의 요구로 인해 생산성이 19세기즈음부터 활성화되었으며 매스 커뮤니케이션(mass communication)의 발달과 산업적인 생활 양상의 전개로 대중양식의 활성화를 가져왔다. 현대 사회에서 나타나는 복잡하고 다양한 현상들은 예술에 반영되어 표현되고 있으며 섬유예술 또한 이러한 영향을 받아 3차원적 예술로 그 다양성이 극대화되고 있는 실정이다. 이제 산업적 측면에서의 섬유도 시장개방과 수출경쟁심화의 위기 속에서 예술적 기능이 바탕이 되는 디자인과 과학기술의 개발이 그 무엇보다도 중요하게 부각되고 있다. 따라서 이제는 하나의 감상의 대상으로 여겨지던 예술 작풍은 그러한 예술적 기능과 더불어 장식을 위한 또 하나의 부가가치를 갖도록 만들어야 한다. 특히, 문화가 발전하고 생활수준이 높아지면서 직물은 장식이라는 기능이외에도 많은 부가적 기능을 갖도록 개발되어야 하는 것이다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구자는 반복패턴에 의해서 생기는 정서적 효과는 어떠한 것을 반복하느냐, 또 어떻게 반복하는가에 따라서 전혀 달라질 수도 있고, 정반대되는 효과를 일으킬 수도 있는 변화 혹은 대비가 없는 단조롭고 흥미없는 획일성 반복(劃一性 反復.Exact Repetition) 보다는 길이나 면적이 점층되거나 집중되는 변화성 반복패턴에서 오는 시각적 조형요소인 착시효과를 나타낼 수 있도록 제작하였다. 그리하여 점,선,면 반복패턴에 의한 착시는 결국 블럭 능직(Block Twill)이라는 조직을 통해 직물에 표현되는 과정을 충분한 이론적 개념 연구와 실험적인 조직연구를 위한 샘플(Sample)작업을 통해 체계적으로 연구하였다. 블럭 능직 기법의 구조는 밝은 면과 어두운 면으로 명확히 구분되어지며 4종광이 기본 단위가 되는 능직으로 블럭의 간격변화에 따라 크기를 확대시킬 수 있고, 제한된 경사의 범위안에서도 위사의 간격 변화에 따라 블럭을 다양하게 응용할 수 있으며, 색상대비에서 오는 직물의 겉면과 안쪽면의 다른 양면성으로 인해 실용적인 면에서 높이 평가된다. 작품제작에서의 블럭 능직은 단색의 경사와 대조되는 위사로 짜여지는데 이는 경사와 위사의 블럭의 대비를 최대한으로 보여 주기 위해 굵기가 같으며 칼라는 2도로 제한하였다. 본 연구를 토대로 직물디자인 전반에 걸쳐지는 기법의 다양화와 입체적인 시각효과로 새로운 방법의 직물디자인을 시도하여 보았다.;The productivity of the the modern design has become catalyzed due to mass production and by the public demand since ninetineenth centuries. The development of mass communication and industrialized life has brought about the vitalization of mass style. Various and complicated phenomena are being reflected and expressed through art. Also affected by this trend, the fiber art is on the verge of maximizing of its diversity. Now the fiber in the light of industry has come to regard the design and the development of science as more important than any other owing to open market policy and rivalry of export competition. So we have to create works of art, so far regarded as objects of appreciation, which have another added value for decoration as well as function of art. With the development of culture and amelioration of standard of life, especially, fiber goods have to be developed as those of having not only decorative function but also added value. From this point of view, I have made this work of art that effects an optical illusion made not by exact repetition that has no change and is so simple as to make us dull, but 'by changeable repetitive pattern of gradual growth or concentration of line and square. As a result, I have studied systematically, through enough theoretical study and sampling work for experimental study, the process in which an optical illusion by dot, line and square is expressed by Block Twill. The structure of .Block Twill technique is divided apparently into bright surface and dark one and its size can be enlarged as the space varies and its usefulness is highly evaluated by its different color between outer surface and inner one. In making work, Block Twill is textured with warp threads contrasting with woof threads of single color. And I have limited their color at 2 degree and with same color so as to show the block ccntrast of warp and woof at its maximum. In sum, grounded upon this study, I have tried to present a new type of design which is furnished with diversification of technique and cubic visual effect over the whole sphere of design.
