한국 전통공간의 생태학적 특성을 적용한 환경디자인에 관한 연구

Abstract

The awareness of the environmental crisis worldwide is from the thought that we return to the nature abuse of facilities of civilization and evil influence that have been guaranteed by modern worldview. Ecological paradigm is to apply the dynamic balance and harmony that ecology takes to human and the nature to recover their isolated relation and to search for the way for the nature, human and built environment to go together in a organic system. Therefore, although ecological paradigm is from ecology, a field of biology, it means not to imitate the shape of organism or its evolution process but to understand the organic harmony and dynamic balance immanent in them. In environmental design, an ecological point of view is that we avoid such built environment left from the modern architecture and that we see built environments - interior space, architecture and landscape - as an open system where people-architecture-environment is developing each other and connected in the mutual organic system. However, this organic, holistic and relative ecological point of view has been exited through Korean traditional concept such as Yin-Yang, Fen-Shui that has been the basic idea of the Korean traditional architecture in ecological aspect. This study proceeds with the following steps in order to change the functional and international-style urban environment of modern paradigm and in order to realize an environmental design applying to ecological view and the method of Korean traditional architecture. First, to begin with, as a problem-statement, I state the today's situation of urban environmental fallacy based on the modern mechanical worldview, and review a character and role of ecological paradigm in environment design and ecological architecture as a practical method. Second, I convince the superiority of the Korean traditional design principle in the process of investigation of the ecological orders in Korean traditional spatial design which is designed by the character of dynamic balance, inter- relation, harmony with the openness to the nature. Third, with the above findings, I fix the method to adjust the ecological architecture as a concept for Korean traditional ecological spacing principle and program a community center to uplift local residents' ecological knowledge, following research on every condition and rational process. Forth, I follow the planed concept of design and goal to present the planing process that reflects the way of human behavior and takes the history of the target area and social conditions under a consideration Fifth, I support the propriety of this study by reviewing the result of the alternative by an object standard. In the process of this study I assure that the design with the Korean traditional architectural ideas and methods are the most magnificent ways to implement the ecological environmental design to reduce the Impact to the nature I would like to emphasize that the meaning of this study is to create a new aesthetic value the in the theological process of the designing the alternative which presents ecological environment to human and the built environment symbiosis with the nature in harmony.;환경의 파괴에서 비롯된 전인류적인 위기의식은, 지금까지의 근대적 세계관으로부터 그 타당성을 확보하고 있는 기술문명의 남용과 그 폐해를 자연환경으로부터 보상받으려는 이기적인 사고에 그 근본원인이 있다는데 인식을 같이 하고 있다. 생태학적 패러다임은 생태학에서 추구하는 생명체와 환경관계의 동적인 균형과 조화의 원리를 인간과 자연의 관계에 적용하려는 것이며 이를 통하여 근대의 기계적 논리에 의해 단절된 둘의 관계를 회복하고 자연, 인간, 인공환경을 독립된 별개가 아닌, 유기적으로 통합된 하나의 시스템으로서 상호보완적인 공생으로 나아갈 방향을 모색하려는 것이다. 그러므로 생태학적 패러다임의 근원이 비록 생물학의 한 분야인 생태학에 있지만 그것은 단순히 생태계의 진화원리나 생명체의 형태를 모방하는 것만을 의미하는 것이 아니라 그 속에 내재된 유기적 조화와 역동적 균형의 원리를 이해하려는 것이다. 환경디자인에 있어서 생태학적 관점이란 근대 건축이 남긴 이러한 기계적 환경을 지양하고 실내, 건축, 조경 등 인간을 둘러싼 인공 환경을, 인간-건축-환경의 유기적 상호관계 속에서 성장 발전하면서 인간과 자연 환경을 연결해 주는 개방 시스템으로 파악하는 것을 말한다. 그러나 이러한 생태학적 사고는 한국적 사고체계에 있어서는 전혀 새로운 것이 아니며 음양, 풍수지리 등 전통의 환경개념에 이미 내재하여 전통건축의 생태학적 특성을 이루는 근간을 이루고 있었던 것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 인식적 전제하에 인간과 자연의 본질에 반하는 현재의 기능주의적, 국제주의적인 환경을 개선하고 한국 전통의 생태학적 사고체계와 건축 방법을 적용한 환경디자인의 대안을 제시하고자 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. 첫째, 연구의 전제로서 도시환경의 문제점과 그 근본 원인인 근대의 기계적 세계관의 오류를 지적하고 그 대안으로서의 생태학적 패러다임의 특성과 환경디자인에 있어서의 역할, 그리고 구체적 적용 방법인 생태건축에 대하여 고찰하였다. 둘째, 한국 전통공간의 형성과정에서 나타나는 생태학적 원리, 즉 역동적 균형, 상대성과 상보성, 자연과의 조화 그리고 개방성 등의 특성과 건축을 통한 자연환경의 조절측면에서의 우수성에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 한국 전통공간의 구성원리에 나타나는 생태학적 특성에 대하여 연구하였다. 셋째, 디자인 연구를 위해, 이상의 연구 과정을 통해 밝혀진 한국 전통공간의 생태학적 공간 구성원리를 본 논문의 환경디자인 연구를 위한 개념으로 생태건축의 자연환경 조절방법을 그 실현목표로 설정하고, 지역주민의 생태학적 인식을 고양하기 위하여 사회복지시설인 지역커뮤니티센터의 디자인 모형사례를 제시하기 위한 디자인의 전제로서 관련된 제반 조건을 수집하고 합리적 절차에 의해 이를 프로그래밍하였다. 넷째, 이상에서 수립한 디자인의 개념과 목표에 따라 인간의 형태를 반영하며 대상지역의 역사적 맥락과 사회적 여건을 고려한 생태학적 환경디자인의 모형사례의 계획과정을 지시하였다. 다섯째, 이상에서 시각화한 환경디자인의 모형사례의 결과를 객관적 평가기준에 의해 검토해 봄으로써 연구의 타당성을 밝히고 그 미비점을 보완하였다. 이러한 연구의 과정을 통하여 현재의 한국 현실에 적합한 인공환경을 창출하기 위해서는 생태학적 건축의 원리와 전통의 자연관과 공간의 원리가 조화를 이룰 수 있는 방법에 의해 접근함으로써 인간의 환경 모두를 위한 쾌적한 공간을 창조할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구는 이상의 결과를 토대로 하여 한국 전통 공간의 조형원리를 적용한 생태학적 환경디자인의 사례를 제시함으로써 인간과 환경이 상보적 조화속에 공존할 수 있는 환경의 창조에 기여하며 자연과의 조화라는 새로운 미적 가치에 부합하는 환경디자인의 대안을 제시하였음에 그 의의를 두고자 한다.
