아크릴화의 기법을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 표현 연구

Abstract

In modern times, social requirment which pursues variety getting out of uniformity brought many changes in comprehending of visual art and approaching method. This change of times influenced the fashion field, accordingly fashion illustration, a mediator between fashion and masses, is extending the artistic area as one of the formative arts. Fashion Illustration, one of the branches in fashion field, has been highly estimated for its artistic value through various material development and technical research by enlarging the ways to express the idea. And it also in the process of development as a means of the modern visual language which conveys the public the image of fashion as well as an impression on them. This study pursues the considerations of the acrylic colors and a variety of techniques using them in order to express the effects of the pictorial texture and turns out fashion illustration in which masking effects of Glue, material for adhesion, are developed in the new methods and applied in a fresh way of illustration. The purpose of this study lies in finding the creative possibilities of acrylic painting as a pictorial means of expression and developing the acryl painting into an appropriate method in fashion illustration eventually creating productive fashion Illustration. The theoretical background is based on the consideration on the concept, transition and growth of fashion illustration. In addition, this study examines the origin and quality of acrylic colors as a material for painting as well as other various materials and techniques which are applied to acrylic painting. By the process of sampling and analyzing many pieces of works, this study tries to find out the practical application of acrylic painting to the current fashion illustration. New methods using Acrylic colors, Color board, Glue, Acrylic Medium are introduced for producing works and based on the new techniques, 10 pieces of works which show feminine and romantic images are presented. The conclusion drawn from this study is as follows : First, the using of adhesive glue, which is used for producing masking effects, presents linear effects on distinctive quality in expressing texture of fashion illustration. These effect of the line were fit for the feminine and romantic expression for clothes. Second, the acrylic techniques of Broken Color effect and Glazing lead the contrast of vivid complementany colors and exuberant hue contrast into stroung and intense harmony of the color tone enhancing the visual effect. Third, the Acrylic colors which have merit from both water colors and oil colors can enable a variety of expression with various usages. Through the mixture with other materials such as color board used as the background, they have been proved to be expressive materials creating pictorial fashion illustration. The study results in highly elevated chance of the various ways of application used for acryl painting to fashion illustration. However, additional studies should be followed to find out the ways to mix other materials with acrylic colors in order to supplement the shortcomings of acrylic painting. Besides, along with the study of the technique to express main idea using glue, the efforts to develop other methods used in general acrylic painting into fashion illustration in effective and appropriate ways are expected to continue.;현대에 이르러 획일성에서 벗어나 다양성을 추구하고자하는 사회적 요구는 예술전반에도 반영되어 시각예술의 이해와 접근방식에 있어서 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 이러한 시대적 추이는 패션 분야에도 파급되어 대중의 매개체인 패션 일러스트레이션도 하나의 조형 활동으로서 그 예술적 범주를 넓혀 가고 있다. 따라서 패션 일러스트레이션은 다양한 소재의 개발과 기법의 연구를 통해 표현 영역을 확대함으로써 과거에 비해 그 예술적 가치가 높아지고 있으며 패션의 이미지를 대중에게 효과적으로 전달함과 동시에 예술적 감동을 주는 현대적 시각 언어로서 발전하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 회화적 재질감 표현을 위하여 아크릴 물감이 가진 특성과 다양한 기법들을 연구하고, 접착용 재료인 글루 (Glue)의 마스킹(Masking) 효과를 새로운 기법으로 개발하였으며, 이를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 회화적 표현 수단으로서 아크릴화의 창조적 가능성을 모색하고 이를 패션 일러스트레이션에 적합한 기법으로 발전시킴으로써 독창적 패션 일러스트레이션을 창출하는데 있다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 개념과 초기부터 현대에 이르는 패션 일러스트레이션의 변화와 발전과정 및 패션 일러스트레이션의 기능과 활용을 국내외 관련 문헌을 통하여 고찰하였으며, 아크릴 물감의 발생과 특성 및 아크릴화의 다양한 재료와 기법들을 살펴보고 현대의 패션 일러스트레이션에 어떻게 활용되고 있는가를 작품을 표집, 분석하여 알아보았다. 작품 제작에 있어서는 아크릴 물감(Acrylic Colors), 칼라보드(Color Board), 글루(Glue), 아크릴 메디움(Acrylic Medium)을 복합적으로 사용한 새로운 기법을 시도하여 여성스럽고 낭만적인 이미지의 의상들을 표현한 10점의 작품들을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션 일러스트레이션 화면에 재질감을 표현함에 있어서 마스킹 효과를 주는 재료로써 접착용 글루 소재를 사용하여 독특한 질감의 선적 효과를 얻을 수 있었고 이러한 선의 효과는 여성적이고 낭만적 분위기의 의상 표현에 적합하였다. 둘께, 아크릴화의 기법인 '분색(Broken Color)' 효과와 '글레이징(Glazing)'을 사용함으로써 강한 느낌의 보색 대비와 화려한 색상 대비를 강렬하면서도 깊이 있는 격조 높은 색의 조화로 이끌 수 있었으며 이를 통해 시각적 효과를 높일 수 있었다. 셋째, 수채화와 유화의 장점을 골고루 갖춘 아크릴 물감은 그 사용방법에 따라 매우 다양한 표현을 가능하게 할뿐 아니라, 바탕화면으로 칼라보드를 사용하는 등 다른 재료와의 적절한 혼용을 통해 회화적 분위기의 패션 일러스트레이션을 창출할 수 있는 표현 재료임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과 패션 일러스트레이션에 있어서 아크릴화의 다양한 가능성을 기대해 볼 수 있었다. 깊이 있는 색감 연출이 다소 어려운 아크릴화의 단점을 보완하기 위해서는 더욱더 다양한 재료와의 혼용이 연구되어져야 할 것이다. 또한 본 연구에 이어 글루를 화면에서 제거하지 않음으로써 얻을 수 있는 질감 효과 등 다양한 표현 기법들의 연구와 더불어 일반적인 아크릴화에서 사용되고 있는 다른 기법들을 현대의 패션 일러스트레이션에 효과적이고 적절한 기법으로 발전시켜 나가는 노력이 계속되기를 바란다.
