한국전통공간에 나타난 생태학적 특성과 공간디자인에의 적용에 관한 연구

Abstract

과학기술의 진보와 발전은 물질적 풍요를 가져다 주었으나, 그로인한 산업화·현대화는 자원고갈, 생태계의 파괴, 인간 생존의 위협과 같은 많은 사회적 문제를 야기하였다. 이는 데카르트-뉴우튼 과학의 기계론적, 결정론적 세계관에 의한 그릇된 자연인식의 결과이며 이러한 위기 상황을 극복하기 위해서는 인식의 일대 전환이 필요하다. 즉, 전체를 시스템으로 보고 자연과 인간을 하나의 유기체로 파악하는 생태학적 세계관이야말로 유일하게 지구의 생명을 연장시킬 수 있으며 환경의 위기에서 지구를 구할 수 있게 하는 희망적인 세계관인 것이다. 이러한 시대적 상황에 대한 인식은 인간과 환경과의 관계를 연구하는 환경 디자인의 중요성을 더욱 부각시키면서 인간 환경에 대한 새로운 시각의 정립과 환경 디자인의 방법론에 있어서 새로운 접근 방법이 필연적으로 요구되고 있다. 한편 환경 문제와 관련된 새로운 접근 방법으로 동양의 전통사상을 재해석하여 자연과 인간과의 관계를 새롭게 재조명하려는 시도가 계속되고 있는데, 이는 인류를 포함하여 살아있는 세계를 지탱하는 생태학적 패러다임과 그 뜻을 같이하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 생태학적 세계관에 입각한 환경에 대한 재인식을 통하여 환경디자인 방법을 연구함에 있어 한국전통공간에 내재되어 있는 생태학적 특성인 음양사상과 풍수지리 등의 전통적 자연관과 생태학적 공간 구성원리를 적용한 환경디자인사례를 제시하고자 한다. 그 방법의 연구는 다음과 같은 방법을 통해서 진행하였다. 첫째, 연구의 전제로서 현재의 환경문제를 야기한 모더니즘 패러다임의 한계를 지적하고 한국에서의 근대화 과정에서 빚어진 문제점을 제시하였다. 둘째, 앞에서 지적한 근대의 기계적 세계관의 대안으로서 생태학적 패러다임의 특성과 환경디자인에의 적용 방법을 모색하고 아울러 한국전통공간에 나타난 생태학적 특성과 생태학적 공간조직의 구성원리의 고찰을 통하여 자연환경 조절 측면에서의 우수성을 살펴본다. 셋째, 이상의 연구과정을 통하여 밝혀진 한국전통공간의 생태학적 특성 및 공간조직의 구성원리를 본 논문의 환경디자인 연구를 위한 개념으로 하고, 대상지 환경분석을 통하여 지역주민의 환경의식을 고취하기 위한 문화시설로서 소규모 전시공간 모형사례 제시를 위한 디자인 계획을 수립하였다. 넷째, 이상에서 수립된 디자인 개념과 목표에 따라 관련 언어의 수집과 절차에 의해 프로그래밍하고 인간행태 그리고 대상지의 주변경관과 물리적 자연지세를 고려하여 생태학적 환경디자인의 모형사례를 제시하였다. 다섯째, 이상에서 시각화된 환경디자인 모형사례의 결과를 종합 평가하기 위해 평가의 틀을 제시하고 객관적 평가기준에 의해 검토해봄으로써 연구의 타당성과 보완점을 제시하였다. 이와같은 연구과정을 통하여 현재의 환경문제를 근본적으로 인식하게 되었고 이를 극복하기 위하여 생태학적 패러다임에 입각한 한국전통공간의 생태학적 공간조직의 구성원리를 환경디자인에 적용함으로써 인간과 자연이 조화롭게 공존하는 새로운 미적가치를 창출하는 디자인 방법을 제시하였음에 그 의의를 둔다.;Although the growth and improvement in the scientific technology have brought us to the modern affluent society, it has induced significant social problems such as resource exhaustion, irreparable damages to the ecosystem including human beings. This has been resulted from shortcomings of the Descartes-Newton's mechanistic worldview and dichotomic thoughts between man and environment. To overcome this tendency to alienate man from his ecological and cultural context, one needs an ecological way of understanding the world as an integral organism of human and nature. This ecological recognition of the environment is the only way to protect and enhance the quality of the human life saving the world from the global crisis of environmental quality and resource depletion. This global recognition of the current situation identifies the importance of an ecological approach and requires the environmental awareness together with the development of a new ecological design methodology. Together with this ecological study, there have been many attempts to promote environmental awareness through re-understanding of traditional oriental thought. As such, this study aims to develop an alternative environmental design which is attempts at adopting an ecological theory of space configuration and the Korean traditional view of nature, like the dual principle of the negative and positive and the theory of geomancy, which are the ecological characteristics embedded in Korean architectures. The methods of the study is as follows: First, as the motivation of this study, this study identifies the limitation of the modernism in terms of current environmental crisis and analyzes the problems occurred during Korean modernization. Secondly, this study explores the characteristics of ecological paradigm as an alternative to the modern mechanism and attempts to adopt it for environmental design. In addition, the advantages of Korean traditional architecture, in terms of the ability of control of nature, are formulated considering its ecological characteristics and configuration principles. Third, on the basis of the ecological characteristics and space configuration principles of Korean traditional architecture identified in the previous steps, this study analyzes the environment of the target site and develops design plans for the design of small-sized exhibition site that helps local residents to recognize the current environmental crisis. Fourth, based on the design principles and goals formulated above, this study performs a design programming through the language collection and procedure, and presents a model example of ecological environmental design. Finally, this study introduces an evaluation framework for the analysis and comparison of the realized model of environmental design. After reviewing the results objectively, the contribution and open issues of this study are presented. This study helps us to recognize the crisis of current environment and to overcome it, this study presents a design methodology that is an attempts at adopting the space configuration principles of Korean traditional architecture in terms of ecological paradigm creating a new esthetic value from the harmonic integration of human and natural environment. This is the contribution of this thesis.
