dc.description.abstract우리는 언제나 길을 밟으면서 살아간다. We are always walking through many roads in our lives. There are many 'roads' in the words we use in our everyday communication. The word 'road' contains not only a one-dimensional meaning of a special prepared way serving as a means of communication between two places, it also serves as a meaning of technic, method, and relations. More extensively, it implies 'Tou' which is an absolute truth and principle. The purpose of this study is to find the general and visible images of the 'road', it's immanent meanings found and felt through external form, and also express the message about human life through modeling. By subjectively interpreting and visualizing the philosophical and metaphysical image of the 'road', I tried to deliver positive message such as the Philosophy of the Life, Hope, Pursuing the Truth, Endurance and Efforts, as well as the simple esthetic sense that comes from it's form and shape. First, I will look at how the 'road' is created through the actions of natural forces and interactions between human and other living creatures. Then I will look at how the visible 'road' more deeply by looking at the use of the word in our language and also other words originating from it. In order to transmit the symbolic meaning efficiently, I studied the theory of object and propagation of a message and the symbolic meaning of the object used in my work. In producing the works, I did not limit the methods but instead used many different things such as modeling, slab building, wheel throwing, slip casting in conformity to the shape and quality of each work. I mainly used material was clay with chamotte. But for slip casting I used clay for porcelain, and put in colored clay when necessary. For decoration after bisque firing, I brushed on colored slip and glaze or put on colored glass. All works were fired in a 0.3㎥ electric kiln at 850℃ for bisque firing. And afterwards they were fired for the second time in same kiln at 1250 ℃. Through this study, I have acquired several conclusions. First of all, the meaning of 'road' in itself contains two: physical and metaphysical, meanings. So naturally, in the process of modeling the meaning, its visible elements and invisible elements appear simultaneously. The second conclusion is that when you endow a symbolic meaning to an object and by doing so visualizing the invisible, then it is possible to efficently transmit the metaphysical meaning. The third is the conclusion that every work of an artist is delivered from the value inside his heart and it is sure to pass on the artist sense of value. Founding upon these conclusions, I've become to present a direction on works that expresses many different materials not only through visible methods but also through internal, essential ways according to artist own thoughts.-
