현대 섬유예술의 경향과 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

These days, Fiber-art has established on unique, independent art field, having not only a creative aesthetic value but also a effective value as a social function. Fiber-art has gotten into the spotlight by many artists, as an another means that can approach to the essence of beauty, being revaluated as a new moulding consciousness which forms a inner value, beyond the traditional craft level. A great deal of works in fiber-art have shown high-degree artistic quality and these confirms a high-degree artistic quality that is symbolic and functional, with self-consciousness. Considering the organic relation with the main stream of art. That is, fiber-art, effected by Cubism, Dadaism. Nouveau Realism, Surrealism, Pop art and Happening, extends its spare of the material and the technique variously with the development of science and technology, and the will to improve the mediums. So the fiber-art which has become three-dimensional forms, such as Soft Sculpture, Fabric Sculpture, fiber Sculpture, from second-dimensional forms, has a close relation ith the contemporary art. In this thesis, I have analyzed the tendencies of contemporary fiber-art and the characteristics, also I expect artistic studies, including the international aspects of the Fiber-art, in a different angled points of view.;오늘날 섬유예술은 예술의 창조적인 미적가치는 물론 사회적 기능으로서의 효용을 지니게 됨으로써 독자적인 영역을 확보하게 되었다. 섬유예술은 전통적인 공예의 차원을 넘어서 내적 가치를 형성하는 새로운 조형의식으로 재평가되면서 미의 본질에 접근할 수 있는 또 다른 수단으로써 예술가들의 각광을 받게 되었다. 이미 적지 않은 섬유예술 작품들이 고도의 예술성을 나타내었고 그것들은 상징적이고 기능적인 것과 더불어 자아의식이 혼합된 예술적인 면모를 보여 주었다. 현대 미술과의 유기적 연관성을 고려해 볼 때 섬유예술은 미술의 주된 흐름에 영향을 받아 발전하여 왔음을 알 수 있다. 즉 큐비즘(Cubism), 다다이즘(Dadaism) 누보 리얼리즘(Nouveau Realism)^(1) 슈르리얼리즘( Surrealism), 팝아트 (PoP Art)^(2) 해프닝(Happening)^(3)등의 영향을 받은 섬유예술은 과학기술의 발달과 매개물에 대한 개척 의지로 말미암아 재료와 기법의 영역이 확장되었다. 그리하여 2차원적인 형태로부터 소프트 스컬프춰(Soft Sculpture), 훼브릭 스컬프춰(Fabric Sculpture), 화이버 스컬프춰(Fiber Sculpture)등과 같은 3차원적인 형태로 다원화되어 현대 미술과의 밀접한 유기적 관계를 갖게 되었다. 이러한 섬유예술의 경향과 조형적 특성을 분석하고, 나아가 섬유예술의 세계적인 양상에 힘입어 다른 각도에서 본 예술론적인 연구를 기대해 본다.
