李朝時代 內室 家具의 특징적 성격에 관한 연구

Abstract

傳統이란 민족생활양식의 역사적 발전과정을 바탕으로 형성된 정신을 통하여 전승된 것으로 형식의 표현, 造形性 및 기법을 토대로 민족의 양식을 세우고 계승한 것이며 이러한 올바른 바탕없이 계승되어지는 것은 바랄 수 없다. 현대에 있어 傳統工藝의 계승은 韓國 傳統 工藝美에 기초를 두고 현대생활에 적응하면서 현대감각의 실용적이면서도 독창적인 창작이 이루어져 韓國的인 특성을 나타낼 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구는 傳統家具중 李朝時代 內室家具의 材料, 構造, 裝飾 분석에 따른 특징적 성격을 연구하는데 목적을 두고 연구대상은 문헌조사와 박물관, 개인소장의 李朝後期 內室家具 146점을 대상으로 하였다. 연구내용은 住居樣式과 內室의 공간적 특성을 통해 內室家具의 형성요인을 밝혔고, 家具의 용도에 따라 收藏用 家具, 化粧用 家具, 裝飾用 家具로 분류하여 그 종류와 기능을 살펴보았으며, 內室家具에 나타난 材料, 構造, 裝飾의 분석을 통해 특징적 성격을 파악하였다. 또한 기존 연구를 통해 內室家具와는 구분되는 성격을 지닌 사랑방家具와 비교 분석하여 內室家具의 특징적 성격을 명백히 하였다. 분석된 內室家具의 특징적 성격은, 첫째, 內室家具에 사용된 材料는 木材뿐만 아니라 竹材, 螺鈿, 華角 등의 材料가 다양하게 사용되었으며, 家具의 용도에 따라 내구력과 美感을 고려해서 부분 부분마다 적절한 材料를 달리 이용하여 家具의 실용성과 기능성을 더해 주었다. 특히 螺鈿과 華角은 內室家具에 주로 사용하여 女性들의 취향을 잘 나타낸 材料로 家具를 통해 실내에서 외부세계를 느낄 수 있게 하였다. 室內家具에 주고 사용된 木材는 느티나무, 오동나무, 먹감나무, 소나무의 材質과 木理紋의 자연스러운 아름다움을 최대한으로 살려 표현하였다. 둘째, 內室家具의 構造는 木質의 力學的 부분에 따라 構造面과 意匠面이 잘 조화되고 있다. 수직, 수평의 전체적인 直線構造는 꾸밈보다는 실제적 기능에 주안점을 두고 있으며 內的으로 견고하고 外的으로 부담을 주지 않는 단순한 結構, 즉 특색있는 이음새와 짜임새로 눈에 보이지 않는 부분에 기울인 성실성과 견고성이 그 특징이다. 세째, 裝飾은 매우 다양하고 풍부하게 사용되었으며 단순한 꾸밈의 의도에서 비롯된 것이 아닌 家具의 構造 보강과 그 자체의 기능을 보유하며 아름다움을 더하여 內室家具의 특징을 두드러지게 나타내고 있다. 內室家具에 사용된 裝飾은 종류별로는 앞바탕이 가장 많고, 들쇠, 경칩, 귀장식, 감잡이 자물쇠, 광두정, 고리 順으로 사용되었으며, 형태별로는 반달들쇠가 가장 많고, 둥근앞바탕, 약과경첩, 운문귀장식, 약과감잡이, 환고리, ㄷ字형 자물쇠, 국화광두정 順으로 사용되었다. 裝飾에 사용된 문양은 自然을 그리거나 多産, 장수, 화목을 기원하는 꽃, 나비, 새, 십장생, 吉祥紋樣 등 女性들의 취향이 잘 드러나 있는 문양들이 다양하고 섬세하게 표현되어 있다.;'The tradition' can be said as something succeeded by the spirit constructed on the basis of historical developments of native life customs ; and the traditional arts have been succeeded having its erected native patterns in expressions of form, figurations and techniques. Without its upright backgrounds continued succession cannot be expected. Nowadays the succession of traditional useful arts have to be able to involve the Korean characteristics among the adaptation to modern life, that is through the progmatic and unique creation of modern senses rooted from the beauties of Korean traditional useful arts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the unique characteristics according to the analysis of materials, structures and ornaments of the furniture for the women's quarters of the Yi Dynasty among the traditional useful arts. Literaries and a total of 143 number of women's furniture in the later Yi Dynasty being kept in museums and in private collections were researched ; and as the contents, first the formative reasons about each furniture were exposed from the dwelling customs of the Yi Dynasty and special characters of the women's quarters ; and then the furniture were explanated in its species and values according to the uses classified as things for storage, make-up and ornamentation ; and lastly by means of the analysis of materials, structures and ornamentations the peculiar characteristics shown in the furniture for women's quarters forniture were investigated. The peculiar characteristics of the furniture for women's quarters analyzed are like these : First, as the materials, not only wood but also bamboo, mother-of pearl and on horn ox cetera were variously used. By using appropriate materials differently part by part, considering the durability and the feeling of beauty according to the uses, the utility or efficiency was added more. Mainly used woods were zelkova, powlonia, persimmon, pine and pear trees, and zelkova, called elm, mountain ash or elm burl dragon wood, mostly often used, have succeeded to show the best of the quality of the wood itself and the natural beauty of the design of whorls and swirling patterns. Secondly, the structure was well harmonized according to functional parts of wood between the aspects of structure and decoration, and the total horizontal or vertical linar structures were figured with center in the actural functions. The simple finishing fashion, internally strong, externally not grotesque, or the speculiar joining and commecting skills which form the invisible parts, is also one of the characteristics. Thirdly, ornaments were used variously and abundently not showing only the more make-up but holding the functions of itself and supplementing the strength of the furniture, so that the furniture for the women's quarters have shown obviously the character the additional beauty. The most oftenly used ornaments are the front ground ornaments in its species and the half moon shaped metal locks in its formatives. The designs impressed in the ornaments were flowers, honeys, birds, the ten long-living things and the 'Gillsahng' designs, which showed well the women's hopes like prolificacy, longevity and the Peace ; and the tastes like these have expressed so delicately that the monotonous linar structures of the furniture have become tender and soft in visual aspects.
