조선후기 조각보의 조형성을 응용한 현대 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

최근 우리문화는 서구 중심적 사고방식에 벗어나 다원화, 절충주의를 추구 하고자 하는 포스트모더니즘의 경향에 힘입어 우리민족의 고유한 문화적 전통을 확립하려는 자성적 노력이 활발히 진행중이다. 이러한 움직임 속에서, 현대 복식도 국제주의적 서구의 기능주의 복식양식에서 벗어나 전통문화에 대한 새로운 자각으로 인한 한국적 전통미를 제시하면서 세계 무대로의 진출을 꾀하고 있다. 전통이란, 민족생활 양식의 역사적 발전을 바탕으로 형성된 정신을 통하여 형식의 표현, 조형성 및 기법을 토대로 민족의 양식을 세우고 계승한 것이다. 이러한 과정없이 전통이 계승되어지는 것을 바랄수는 없다. 이에 본 연구에서는 조선 후기 제작되어 당시 여성들의 미의식과 정서가 담긴 조각보를 전통의 모티브로 선택하였다. 조각보에 나타난 면구성과 색채의 조형성을 분석하여 현대복식디자인에 맞게 재구성함으로써 전통의 계승과 창조적 가능성을 제시하는데 의의를 두고 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 본 연구에서는 첫째, 사료와 관계문헌 및 선행연구를 참고로하여 조각보에 표현된 선, 형태, 색채, 재질 등의 조형성을 분석하였다. 둘째, 이론적 고찰에서 밝혀진 조각보의 조형성이 1980년대 이후 전통미 표현을 위해 현대복식조형에서는 어떻게 응용되고 있는 지를 살펴보았다. 셋째, 현대복식디자인에 가장 효과적으로 응용될 수 있는 조각보의 면구성과 색채의 조형성을 선택하여 현대적 감각에 맞게 재구성하여 천연염색, 패치워크(Patchwork), 코팅(Coating)기법을 이용하여 총 8점의 작품을 실물제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통적인 특성을 지니고 있고 조각보에 가장 많이 나타나면서 형태와 미적특성이 현대적 감각에 부응하는 면구성을 선택하여 재구성하여 복식에 응용함으로써 전통의 모티브를 현대복식에 표현할 수 있었다. 둘째, 전통적인 모티브의 도입과 제시는 현대복식디자인의 창작의 표현이 될 수 있음을 인식할 수 있었다. 셋째, 현대복식에 있어서 전통양식의 활용은 우리의 주체성을 일깨워 우리 문화에 대한 긍지를 고취시키고, 국제무대에서 차별화 되면서 한국복식의 독창성과 창조성을 표현할 수 있는 의미있는 영역임을 인식할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 현대복식디자인에 있어서 전통의 도입은 전통에 뿌리를 둔 주체성 확립을 위한 현대화의 방향을 의미한다. 전통에 대한 체계적인 연구와 분석이 선행된 후에 단순한 선이나 형태, 색채의 이용이 아닌 우리 고유의 전통적인 미의식을 바탕으로 현대사회가 요구하는 실용적이면서도 독창적인 복식디자인을 창조할 때 우리는 국제사회에서 선도적 역할을 수행할 수 있는 복식문화 기반을 이를 수 있을 것이다.;Recently our culture is trying actively to establish the cultural tradition native to Korea, thanks to the Postmodern tendency, which gets rid of a western -oriented ideas and seeks after pluralism and mixness. In this movement, Korean modern costume free itself from a western, international functionalistic fashion, presenting Korean traditional beauty with a new self-consciousness of a national culture, and planing to make inroads into the world market. The tradition is that a national fashion on the basis of the mode presentation, formativity and techniques, based on the spirit, which is made through a historical development of the national life style. Without this course we cannot desire a succeeding of the tradition. Therefore this study graps the formativity of the Korean patchwork wrapping cloth in the late Chosun-Dynasty, which was made in the past, presents a creative faculty at the present, and hopes to increase it's value in the future, and then through introduce it's formativity to the modern costume revives the traditional meaning of the costume culture, and also in the international time will present creative faculty of the new dress-formativity which takes root deep into the tradition. For this purpose, first, this study has investigated theoretically the formative side of the line, shape, color and material quality which the patchwork wrapping cloth showed under the reference to documents, literatures and preceding studies, second, has observed how the formativity of the patchwork wrapping cloth, which has been revealed in the theoretical investigation, is being applied practically in the modern costume, for the expression of the traditional natural process dyeing and patchwork for the revival of the tradition. This work has been recreated as the modern cloth-fashion by the practical application of the geometrical making and the harmony of colors. And this patchwork wrapping cloth suggests the possibility that the traditional beauty in the modern dress-fashion can be succeed and developed. Now for the expression of the traditional beauty in the modern costume we must not lose the our tradition, and through the correct understanding and succeeding of the tradition create the practical, unique work which has the harmony with the modem international life - style. Therefore, more active participation in the tradition, which we will revive the unique tradition in that way, is our problem which we must study continually.
