Abstract

Tartan or Tartan check that come down with Backpipe and kilt have It's orgin in which representative noble family in scotland highlands used their unique pattern as a family insignia or decoraton in a rite or hunting, warfare Thrtan or Tartarn check pattern that is simbolic of their culture and tradition has many various kinds of patterns enought to be uncountable, according to their social position or native place and their purpose but now there are 180 kinds of patterns remained. The pattern composition of Tartan check is formed as a typical cross stripes that vertical line and horizontal line meets rectangulary. And its color is much various and rich than other check patten. So its magnificient spectacle that various all kinds of colors is dyed in cloth is second to none. Its color composition from dark color to light color is various and in addition its feeling of whole pattern is so sporty and playful in any circustance that now is used in not only casual wear or sport wear but all kinds of men's and ladies wear as a representative pattern of continuous favorite worldwide using check pattern. In this study, The general theoretical background about traditional check pattern and Tartans is explained and according to altering line number of being composed of cross stripes changing process of pattern shall be intended to be shown. Finally, This study is in helping check pattern be applicated in improving and modernizing, commercializing the pattern, as showing creative and various kinds of check pattern's appearance to be happened in making traditional pattern be basic pattern and other composing colors and materials changing.;Back Pipe (백파이프), Kilt (길트)와 함께 전해지는 Tartan (타-탄) 또는 Tartan Check (타탄첵크)는 Scotland (스코틀랜드) 고원지방의 대표적인 명문의 씨족이 의식이나 수렵, 전쟁때 문장이나 장식으로서 각씨족 특유의 무늬를 이용한 것이 시초였다. 이러한 무늬는 그들의 문화와 전통의 상징으로 전해내려와 신분이나 출신지, 목적, 용도에 따라 다양한 무늬가 많았으나 현재에는 180여종의 무늬가 전해지고 있다. Tartan Check의 무늬구성은 세로선과 가로선이 직각으로 교체하는 전형적인 격자모양으로 형성되어 있으며 다른 첵크 패턴에 비해 색채가 다양하고 풍부하며 염색이 가능한 모든 색채가 구사되어 있는 장관은 다른무늬의 추종을 불허할 정도이다. 짙은색부터 옅은색에 이르기까지 색채구성은 다양하지만 전체적인 패턴의 분위기는 대단히 스포티(Sporty)하고 플레이플(Playful)하다는 기분이 어느 무늬에서나 느낄 수 있는 것이 특징으로 현재 평상복이나 스포츠웨어(Sports wear)등에 널리 이용되고 있다. 또한 남성복, 여성복 및 아동복, 인테리어 소품, 머플러등의 악세사리에 이르기까지 널리 이용 되어지는 대표적인 패턴으로 거의 유행에 상관없이 지속적이며 전통적인 패턴으로서 세계적으로 널리 애용되고 있는 첵크 패턴이다. 본연구에서는 전통적 첵크 패턴인 Tartan에 관한 전반적인 설명과 격자무늬를 구성하는 선의 수등을 변화시켜 패턴의 변화를 시도하였다. 또한 구성 색채를 변화시킴으로써 다양한 용도의 현대적 감각의 패턴을 구사하여 창조적이며 새로운 첵크패턴의 개발 및 산업화에 응용하고자 한다.
