선을 통한 빛의 이미지 표현

Abstract

It can be said that the trend of the modern arts is the reflection of the spirit of the time and of the change of the values. A recent trend in arts shows assertion of the artist himself and emphasis on creative expression of inner life, rather than a mere recreation of natural objects. As a type of formative art, modern dyeing shows a similar trend; the artist pursues new methods and forms to express himself. Hence, the researcher attempted to express the art of light as a new formative art, taking light into the dyeing art. "Light" has been expressed to represent life through movement. The purpose of this study was to see the possibility of expression and to analyze the image of "light", fucusing on how one material expressed and image. Far a theoretical back-ground of this study, the meaning of light that has been expressed so far was reviewed and the inner quality of light was given images. The researcher expresseed the light as a compressed and simple line. So the researcher identified the meaning of the expressed line and the residue in mind. The results from this study can be summarized as follows 1. Movement of line is appropriate to express the direction, speed and vividness of "light." 2. As for a technical aspect, batik is good to express the clearance and straightness of light. 3. In actual production the thickness of the dye can express spatial, visual effects and different materials and techniques can result in different expressions. The researcher's purpose was to symbolize the light in a simple from using a line. However, the rhythmical expression could not fully realize the inner world. Efforts need to be made to solve this problem through continuous work SO that a higher level of formative art can be achieved.;현대미술의 흐름은 시대정신의 反映이자 가치관의 변천을 의미하고 있는 것이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 현대미술의 경향은 자연 대상을 그대로 재현하는 것이 아니라 작가 자신을 주장하고 내적 세계의 독창적 표현을 중시하는 경향으로 변하고 있다. 염색공예 역시 조형예술의 한 분야로 그러한 추세의 양상이 나타나고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이와 같이 모든 예술가들이 자신을 표현함으로써 새로운 방법과 형태를 추구하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구자는 빛의 이미지를 표현소재로 선택하여 시각화 해보고자 하였다. 빛은 움직임과 함께 생명의 표현으로서 예술이 생긴 이래 오늘날까지 한결같이 표현되어 오고 있다. 빛은 작가의 의도에 따라 사용되는 모든 요소들 중에서 소재 자체를 非物質化 시키는 가장 核心的인 요소로 자유로운 정신과 개성에 의해 새로운 造形的 世界를 표현하게 되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 소재가 주는 이미지를 조형적으로 표현하는 과정에서 빛에 대한 심상을 표현하기 위해 선을 통하여 상징화하는 표현 가능성을 연구하는데 목적을 두었다. 이러한 목적을 위한 이론적 배경으로 빛의 의미와 지금까지 표현되어진 빛을 고찰해 봄으로써 '빛 '의 내적인 성질을 형상화 하였다. 본 연구자는 빛을 간결한 형태로 압축한 선으로 표현하였다. 그때 표현된 선의 의미를 알아 보았고, 심상에 남는 빛을 표상화 시키는 작품 작업을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 선의 움직임이 빛의 방향성, 속도감 및 생명감을 표현하는데 적절하였다. 둘째, 기법면에서 방염법으로 빛의 투명성을 나타낼 수 있었고 묘염으로 회화적인 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, 제작과정에서 염색특유의 농담으로 공간성의 표현과 시각적 효과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 재료와 기법연구에 따라 다양한 표현이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 선을 사용하여 간결한 형태로 빛을 상징하고자 하였으나 선의 율동적인 표현에 있어서 내면세계를 형상화시키는 데 충분하지 못한 아쉬움이 남는다. 이러한 문제점은 계속적인 작업으로 해결해 나가고자 하며 연구와 작업으로 보다 차원높은 조형세계를 창조해 나가려 한다.
