직조 조직을 이용한 Piece작업의 연구

Abstract

Applying the development of creative expressions and multiple materials, modern fabric art has been brought into the expansion of formative sense, in view of the materials, shape, colors and technique. It is quite advisable that from the mode of modern art representing such new changes and senses the fabric art emerged, which helped pave a new way to opening up an improved perspective and feeling to artists and to exploring the creative sense of sight as well. So is often the cese also with the fabric art, contemporary fabric artists have undeniably brought themselves into the broadening of their techniques and materials, combined with their intuitional insight, creative talent, principles and functions. There are features in this thesis that the common form of the piece produced through the piece work is relatively simple but it is combined and reorganized by dint of the successive array of the piece on the plane, thereby leading to a specific visual effectiveness. Therefore, a number of changes may come as a result of making the expression of piece diverse. An analysis of the piece works made by those established artists reveals that they made an extensive production of piece works from the plane to the environmental space under three dimension. In this sense, a series of piece works were freely and diversely assembled into the relief and cubic pattern from the two dimensional plane. By employing the method of basic array, the pieces were successively combined and assembled into something like a moving picture. As a result of this thesis, it is recognized that by applying the piece, a wide variety of piece works will come out. The use of various materials makes it possible for us to produce piece works in free and broad and cubic way. The piece works take on the feeling of majesty and intensity. Although the piece works are manifold in shape and colors ,they stand in pursuit of an imaginative base. In the process of making the piece works assembled, they could be multifarously organized or reorganized, but modified in size without difficulties. A problem exists when they were not successfully constructed and assembled just as expected earlier. It goes without saving that we shall have to study a specific feeling of piece works by applying the fabric. There is every indication that the piece works will ever and ever expand and develop in the field of the modern fabric art if there are steady effort to improve the fabric art.;섬유예술은 "섬유로 이루어지는 모든 디자인 영역"을 일컫는다. 섬유예술은 인간 문화와 밀접한 관계를 지니고 발전하여 오면서 형식적 제약과 실용성에 치우쳤던 과거의 모든 규범에서 벗어나 미를 추구하는 예술로서 형성되는 필연적인 과정을 현대예술의 역사적 전개속에서 살펴볼 수 있다. 현대의 섬유예술은 독창적인 표현양식 개발 및 다양한 재료 선택으로 인한 새로운 조형의식의 확대를 가져와 소재, 재료, 형태, 색채, 기법 등에서 많은 변화와 발전을 보여주게 되었다. 이렇게 새로운 변화와 감각을 나타내고 있는 현대예술의 양식 속에서 섬유예술의 출현은 예술가의 시각과 감정에 새로운 길을 개척해 주며 창의적인 시각형식의 탐구에 중요한 매개체가 되었다. 본 논문의 작품제작 과정에서는 단위 형태라고 할 수 있는 Piece의 작업을 통해 평면에서의 반복의 원리로 결합, 재구성함으로써 어떠한 형태로 표현되느냐에 따라서 많은 변화를 얻을 수 있다. 그러므로 Piece의 형태 선정은 그 형태의 독립성 보다는 집결된 후의 결과적 형태가 중요하며 다각도로 변화를 줌으로써 반복 또는 중복하는 형식미라고 할 수 있다. 이와같이 반복의 원리는 조형상의 기초가 되고 있기 때문에 이 원리를 더욱 발전시켜 평면적으로 또는 입체적으로 응용해 볼 필요가 있다. 이러한 특성때문에 오늘날 섬유예술에 있어 Piece작업은 다차원의 형식으로 나타나고 있으며 현대 건축의 공간에서도 밀접한 관계를 가지면서 거대한 환경예술로 발전해 오고 있다. 아울러 자유로운 형식과 입체감을 얻을 수 있는 직조기법을 작품에 이용함으로써 느끼는 시각적 효과와 고정된 형태들의 움직임을 이용하여 2차원의 형태들이 3차 공간에서 나타내는 특성을 연속적 배열 방법을 통해 살펴봄으로써, 섬유예술에 있어서 무한한 표현 가능성을 살펴보았다.
