에로티시즘 표현에 관한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

원시시대에서 현대에 이르기까지 인간에게는 무의식적으로 성(性)에 대한 욕구가 잠재되어 있음으로 사랑이나 성은 중요한 문제로 여겨져 왔다. 성에 연관된 문제들이 중요하게 생각되는 이유는 작게는 개인간에 크게는 역사적으로 세대를 유지하려는 인간의 기본의지를 포함하기 때문이며 에로티시즘(eroticism;性愛)은 특히 우리 인간에게 이처럼 중요한 문제로 여겨져 자기표현의 중심수단인 의복과는 불가분의 관계에 있다고 하겠다. 의복을 착용하지 않았던 시대의 원시인들은 바디페인팅 (body painting)이나 문신(tatooing), 상흔 (scarfication) 등의 방법으로 자신을 아름답게 보이려고 하였으며, 산업구조가 다양해진 현대사회에서의 우리는 의복을 통해 자신의 사상·감정·예술성등을 표현하기도 한다. 예로부터 우리 인간은 의복을 입음으로써 자신을 아름답게 하여 자신의 개성을 표현하고 사회적인 지위나 신분을 표출하고자 하였다. 이것이 의복의 신체보호나 장식, 정숙성과 같은, 인간이 의복을 착장(着裝)하는 기본동기인 것이다. 이 세가지 창작동기는 서로 연관성을 갖고 있어서 매우 중요하며 특히 장식성과 정숙성에 관해서는 심리학적인 측면에서 매우 중요하게 다루어지고 있다. 의복을 입음으로써 자신을 과시하려는 욕구와 부끄러움을 감추려는 욕구 즉, 우리 인간은 의복을 입음으로써 신체부위를 감싸 부끄러움을 감추면서도 상대방의 시선을 끌고자 했다는 동시만족에 대해 심리학간에 많은 이론이 대두되어 있다. 비정숙성 이론의 주창자인 James Laver는 인간이 의복을 입는 목적이 인체의 성적매력을 끄는 부위 (erogenous bodily areas)로 주위를 집중시키는데에 있다고 하였으며, 인간은 의복을 입지 않음으로써가 아니라 옷을 입음으로써 성적관심(性的關心)을 자극하게 된다고 하였다.(1) 의복을 입지 않은 나체로서보다는 신체부위를 부분적으로 노출한다든지 미니스커트의 착용, 신체가 비치는 의복의 착용등이 더욱 성적인 분위기를 연출할 수 있다는 이론은 James Laver가 인간 모두가 나체생활을 하여 의복에 의해 갖추어진 신체부위에 대한 호기심이 없었더라면 인간의 성적관심은 소멸하고, 따라서 인류는 결국 멸종에 이르고 말았을 것이다.(2) 라고 묘사한 것에서도 알수 있다. 의복을 입음으로 해서 나체로서보다 성(性)의 시각화가 더욱 강조된다는 사실은 인간본능에 근거를 둔 심리학적 이론의 도입이 가능해졌으며 보다 에로틱한 의상의 출현을 가능케 하였다. 따라서 본 논문은 의복을 착용함으로써 나타나는 성적관심(性的關心)과 디자인에 따른 에로티시즘의 분위기를 표현할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 이에 심리학자들의 이론을 토대로 에로티시즘이란 무엇인가에 대해 그 이론적 배경을 설명하고 의복에 표현될 수 있는 에로티시즘의 형태를 과거에 디자인된 의상을 통해 역사적으로 고찰해 봄과 동시에 그 중 투시기법에 의한 가장 에로틱한 분위기를 의복을 빌어 표현하고자 한다. 실물제작 작품은 총 9점으로 공단과 레이스등의 소재를 사용하였으며 디자인 효과를 높이기 위해 색채는 검정색으로 통일하고 신체부위에서의 에로틱 포인트( 7 erotic Zone ; 어깨, 가슴, 허리, 목, 힙, 사지, 엉덩이 )를 중심으로 에로티시즘을 표현하고자 한다.;From the primitive age to the modern times, love and sexuality has been regarded to be important because the sexual desire for the preservation of species and the sexual entertainment is latent in the human mind. In accordance, sexuality and eroticism have great influence on the types and designs of clothes that works as major way how to represent oneself. From the past, mankind intends to protect herself from nature and the outside, and to represent her beauty, personality, social standing and position owing to garment. Therefore, protection, decoration and morality can be refered as major motives to put on clothes. Among these, both morality and decoration has been treated as important matter from the psychological point of view. Based on the above psychological contention, the fact that visualization of sexuality can be more emphasized by wearing clothes rather than by naked body can make it possible to introduce more erotic clothes. In result in the appearance of mini-skirt and the garment which can project certain part of human body. However, the lack of understanding about healthy and sound perception about eroticism cause the immoral design with excessive exposure which only stimulate the sexual instinct. So, it seems to be necessary to exercise studies concentrating on eroticism based on psychological theories and understanding about sexuality including traditional morality and sex-liberalization. As a student who is major in fashion-design, it is very helpful to study the correlationship between the clothes and eroticism, which rely on human's unconcious mind rather than the visualizied attraction of sexual instinct. In conclusion, I think the psychological range of apparel studies is very diverse and wide. It seems to be almost impossible to deal with all aspects of such subjects in this treatise, but the expression of eroticism by clothes is thought to be fundamental and basic point. Though this treatrise mainly set focus to projection in order to express sexuality and eroticism, I anticipate more comprehensive and professional studies on these subjects.
