추상적 표현기법을 이용한 아트패브릭 패턴 연구

Abstract

인류의 발생과 더불어 그 기원을 같이하고 있는 섬유예술은 18세기 산업혁명 이래로 기계화의 물결을 타고 소재와 기법의 확장을 이루어왔고, 대규모의 기계시설에 의하여 대량으로 생산되어 졌다. 이러한 결과로 제품의 질적 저하와 반미학적 양상을 보이게 되었는데, 이에 반발하여 1870년 윌리엄 모리스(William Morris)에 의해 제창된 미술공예 운동은 수공예를 강조한 장인정신에 기초를 두고 자유로운 형태의 작품들을 통해, 제품의 질과 미적가치를 부여하였다. 바우하우스 시대를 맞이하면서 예술과 기교의 통합이 이루어지고, 섬유예술은 순수조형을 지향하기 시작하였다. 많은 미술인들은 조형개념이 다변화됨에 따라 형식에서 벗어나 자기표현의 길을 자유롭게 추구해 왔다. 또한 미술 각 장르의 전통적 개념에 따른 구분이 점점 희미해져 가고, 과거의 틀에 박힌 관념에서 벗어나 새로운 것을 창조하고자 하는 움직임이 강한 추세를 보이고 있다. 작가들의 자유로운 표현추구와 장르 개념의 와해로 이제는 어느 작가를 공예가나 조각가 또는 회화작가라는 관념적인 분류로 구분하여 그들 작품을 이해하거나 분석할 수 없게 되었다. 현대예술의 동향은 지나친 예술의 자율성추구로 인하여 개념의 확대를 가져왔고, 고정된 관념을 벗어나 좀더 진보적인 조형예술로 확산되어졌는데 이런 현상의 하나로 미술의 매체로써 인체를 주목하게 되었으며 미술의상이라는 새로운 조형 형태의 출현은 이같은 자연스러운 귀결이라고 볼 수 있다. 이런 미술의상을 표현하는데 한 표현기법으로 염색이 이용되었다. 염색은 천에 물을 들이면서 시작되어 직물이 갖는 본래의 실용성위에 인간의 심미적 욕구를 충족시키면서 공예로써 그 위치를 확고히 하고 있다. 또한 다양하고 새로운 재료의 출현과 표현기법의 개발로 독특한 표현세계를 이루어 나가는데 한몫을 하고 있다. 미술의상에 표현되는 아트패브릭의 패턴으로는 기존의 흔히 볼 수 있는 패턴이 아닌, 작가의 내적 심성표현으로 나타난 감정표출 작업도 패턴으로 응용될 수 있다. 이러한 패턴은 나만의 독특한 것을 원하며, 고부가가치의 창의적이고 변화있는 패턴을 원하는 현대인들의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있다고 생각한다. 따라서 작가의 독창적인 내면세계를 표현한, 예술성이 담긴 아트패브릭 패턴 연구가 필요하게 되었다. 이러한 아트패브릭 패턴 제작에 있어서 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로는 초현실주의와 추상표현주의를 바탕으로 하고 있으며, 표현 기법으로써 무의식적으로 떨어뜨린 드리핑(Dripping)기법과 데칼코마니기법을 이용하여 우연의 얼룩과 데칼코마니 기법이 가지는 효과를 표현하였으며, 그 우연의 효과에 의한 본인의 주관적 세계를 직물에 나타내어 직물패턴의 다양성을 보여주고 벽에 걸어서 감상할 수 있는 시각예술로써만이 아닌 실용성 있는 아트패브릭으로 응용하여 보았다. 이 기법의 응용으로 의도적으로 무늬를 만들어 찍어 대량생산으로 흔히 접할 수 있는 패턴이 아닌 독창적인 패턴을 시도하였다. 또한 비치는(See-through)천인 노방을 이용하여 중첩(Over-lapping)의 효과로 전체적이며 동시적인 시각적 효과를 나타내었다. 본 연구를 진행하면서 데칼코마니와 드리핑기법의 추상표현은 아트패브릭 패턴에 적극 활용될 수 있는 기법임을 알 수 있었으며 앞으로 독창적인 아트패브릭 패턴 연구를 위하여서는 표현기법의 개발이 우선되어야 한다고 생각한다. 이러한 아트패브릭이 미술의상과 연결되어 독특한 실루엣과 예술성이 있는 패턴으로 된 직물로 의상을 만든다면 개성을 중요시 하는 현대사회에서 예술성과 사용가치를 동시에 충족시키는 큰 의미를 갖는다고 하겠다.;Art Fabric which has the same origin as human beings has been extended in its materials and techniques since the 18th century's industrial revolution, and mass-produced with big machinery. As a result, products became low in quality and anti-asthetic. and art-craft movement proclaimed by william Morris in 1870, opposed to the result, is based on craftsmanship which emphasizes hand-craft, and add qualitative, asthetic value to products through liberal styled works. Art and technique became unified in the age of Bauhaus, and fabric art started to pursue pure modeling. Many artists have pursued self-expression escaping from fixed style because of various concepts of modeling. Also, distinction, following traditional concept, among each art genre became blurry, and a movement to create new things escaping from stereotypes is getting stronger. Because of artists, liberal expression and various genre concepts, now it is difficult to divide craftsman or secuplter or pictorial artist with abstract classification, and to understand with abstract classification, and to understand or analyze their works. Modern art has expanded in its concepts because of excessive pursuit of liberal art, and broadened to more progressive formative art. As one of those phenomena, body became a medium of art and art custume followed it naturally. As one of way to express this art custume, dye is used. Dyeing started with coloring cloths, and now makes its position as arts and crafts solidated by satisfying human being's asthetic desire. Also, it becomes a part of exotic expression world thanks to development of expression skill and new materials. Art fabric patterns, which are expressed in art custume, can be applied as artist's expression of emotion. These patterns, I think, can satisfy modern people who want more creative, various patterns. Accordingly, we need to study art fabric patterns which has artist's peculiar inner world and thoughts. I based on ultra-realism and abstract expressionism as theoretical background, and expressed the effect of De´calcomanie technique, and stain of coincidence. Applying those techniques. I made patterns intentionally and tried to make special patterns, which are different from mass-produced patterns. Accordingly, I showed a variety of textile patterns using De´caleomanie, and applied it as a practical art fabric which we can hang on the wall and appreciate. Also, I made visualized and simultaneous effect with over-lapping, using see-through cloth. In the process of this study, I found that De´calcomanie and technique can be positively utilized in Art fabric pattern, and I think expression skill should be developed first for a study on exotic art fabric patterns. If we can connect art fabric with art custume and make clothes with exotic-silhouetted, artistic patterned textiles, it will be very meaningful to satisfy both artistic factors and practical use.
