Honeycomb조직을 응용한 직물패턴 연구

Abstract

역사이래 부터 오늘날에 이르기까지 직물문화는 인간의 질적 삶을 영위하기 위해 인류생활과 가장 밀접하게 발달해 온 문화이다. 섬유산업의 발달은 문화의 척도를 가늠하는 잣대가 되어왔고 문명전달의 견인차 역할을 해왔다. 가내 수공예에만 의존하던 전통적 생활양식은 대량생산이 가능한 산업화의 물결에 의해 물질적 풍요와 더불어 생활수준의 향상 및 사회구조의 변화를 가져왔으며 새로운 세계에 대한 희망과 기대를 갖게 하였다. 그러나 기계산업의 신속한 생산성에 따른 저급 품질생산은 질적 풍요보다 양적 풍요를 추구하는 결과를 초래하였다. 이러한 산업생산품에서 질적 향상이라는 문제점를 해결하기 위한 대표적인 운동으로는 19C말 미술공예운동(Arts & Craft Movement)을 들 수 있다. 이 사상은 수공예를 높은 수준으로 끌어올리기 위한 것으로 특권층을 위한 예술이 아닌, 예술의 자율화, 민주화를 이룩하기 위한 혁신적인 운동이였으며 이 정신은 20C에도 이어졌다. 20C초 개설된 바우하우스의 교육은 수공예를 부활시켜 그 당시 발전되고 있는 산업과 연계시켜 질 높은 제품 생산에 디자인의 목표를 두었으며 이러한 사상은 현대 섬유산업발전으로 연결시키는 계기가 되었다. 한편, 1990년 이후 한국에서 실행되고 있는 국제화, 개방화는 그 동안 노동집약적 구조로서 양적 생산에만 급급하였던 한국 섬유산업계에 큰 타격을 주게되었다. 이에 따라 근래에는 양적성장을 지양하고 디자인 개발을 통한 고부가가치 상품의 질적성장 추구 문제가 제기 되었고, 국제경쟁력 강화를 위해서는 제품의 개성화, 고급화, 다양화의 중요성이 대두 되었다. 이에 본 연구자는 미술공예운동 그리고 바우하우스운동에서 주장한 사상을 기초로 하여 현재 한국 섬유산업계가 접하고 있는 문제점 해결의 한 방안으로 공예적 직조기법을 응용하여 산업직물에의 적용가능성을 실험함으로써 창의적인 직물개발에 도움을 주고자 하는 것으로 본 논문의 목적을 두었다. 고도의 산업화에 대한 반작용으로 환경에 대한 관심이 고조되는 현 시점에서 메말라가는 전통에 대한 향수를 그리워하는 현대인의 정서를 대면하며, 또한 풍토적 이미지를 부활시키는 옛것에 대한 향수를 의미하는 에콜로지적 자연적 이미지로 선정 하였다. 보다 촉감적이고 풍토적 자연 향취를 부여 할 수 있도록 평직변화조직인 Honeycomb조직을 분석, 응용하였다. 그 이유는 Honeycomb조직 그 자체가 벌집을 의미하는 것으로 육각형, 원형등의 다채로운 문양으로 형태를 변화시킬 수 있다는 장점을 지니고 있으며 동시에 다양한 소재를 효율적으로 선택하여 제직함에 따라 매우 다양한 질감효과를 창출할 수 있는 장점이 있기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 Honeycomb의 기본조직을 분석한 후 다양한 실에 의한 테비의 효과, 단위패턴의 간격변화 및 반복 등 다양한 질감적 표현의 가능성에 대해 연구하였다. 구체적인 실물제작은 한국의 자연, 특히 가을의 정서에 부합되는 To the start, Venetion, Into the Harvest, Autumnals & Fruition 4가지 컨셉을 분석하여 기획하였다. 색상은 자연적인 뉴트럴 분위기로 전개 하였으며, 소재는 주로 면과 모등의 천연섬유를 주로 사용하여 자연스러움의 표현을 부가시켰다.;It is commonly acknowledged that the fiber industry has been the base of our country's economic growth, and the economical strength upon that has led our social, cultural development, G.N.P. increase, diversification of value and internationalization of life style, that is, improved our cultural senses as well'as living conditions into a higher level. Recent fiber industry, however, has become losing its competitiveness as our nation's cost-oriented market strategy has eventually lost its power in the outside markets. To recover this situation, it is time for us to search, in accordance with the times, for fresh and original designs of our own in order to get individuality, first-class quality and originality of product, and also we must make our effort to produce goods of higher value to turn to the quality competition strategies focused on technology that we can see in those of the advanced powers. Therefore, making goods our sensitivity is important for the fiber industry, especially the textile design is most urgently to be explored and developed among other things, because it is the principal problem to be solved to get a more advance industrial structure. In this regard, this study has investigated another possibilities of designing new textile patterns applying the Honeycomb technique, one varied form of ordinary weaving. Using the ordinary weaving technique now and then, and artistically harmonized colors and patterns of proper strength and shading, we can make the vertical strong image of weaving itself into a cubic or relief image close to art. Also the power of retaining warmth and absorbing water would be great that the woven fabric is suppose to expand its practical use. The ultimate aim of this study lies in the investigation of certain textile designs which might satisfy consumer's taste and harmonize with modern sensitivity by applying various techniques and colors, following up-to date fashion trends while maintaining the basic structural form of Honeycomb pattern, to the development of textile designs of higher value added, and, in a broad sense, to be a help in the development of this nation's fiber culture.
