주전자 형태를 응용한 도자 조형 연구

Abstract

주전자는 몸체와 주구, 뚜껑, 손잡이로 구성된 용기로써 술이나 물을 데우고 그것을 담아서 따를 수 있게 만든 그릇의 총칭이다. 우리나라의 경우 고려시대부터 보편화 되었으며 시대에 따라 뚜껑, 손잡이, 주구의 형태에 현저한 특성을 보이며 변천되어 왔다. 이러한 주전자가 근대에 이르러서는 조형작품의 소재로 각광받으면서 기존의 대칭형에서 탈피하여 자유로운 형태를 보이며 소재와 색채 또한 다양해져 창의적인 도자 예술 작품으로서 발전하고 있다. 본 연구는 주전자의 형태를 응용하여 보다 풍부한 정서를 전달해 줄 수 있는 창조적인 도자 조형물을 제작하는데 목적이 있다. 특히 널리 알려진 동화 「이상한 나라의 앨리스」를 선택하여 등장하는 인물과 물상들을 소재로 다양한 주전자의 형태를 디자인하였다. 연구의 내용으로는 주전자의 구조적 특징을 서술하고 우리나라의 주전자의 유래 및 시대적 특색에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한 주전자의 형태를 이용한 조형 작품들을 연구하였고, 「이상한 나라의 앨리스」의 아동 문학적 특성과 본 연구에 미친 의의를 살펴보았다. 작품 제작은 작품 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10의 경우 진기하고 변화 무쌍한 주제물들을 자유롭게 표현하기에 적합한 타렴 성형 방법을 사용하였고, 섬세하고 간결한 표현과 화려한 색감이 요구되는 작품 1, 2, 7, 9의 제작은 이장주입성형방법을 이용하였다. 태토는 타렴 성형 방법에는 석기질 점토를 이용하였으며 이장 주입 성형의 경우 백색토가 높은 고려 도토의 슈퍼 화이트와 밀양 백토를 7:3의 비율로 혼합하여 사용했다. 시유는 백자 투명유와 동유를 담금 또는 분무하였고 고온 안료를 사용하여 다양한 색감의 변화를 시도하였다. 또한 동화의 표현을 극대화시키고자 부분적으로 상회안료를 사용하였다. 소성 방법은 1.5㎥ 가스 가마에서 마침 온도 850℃로 8시간 동안 1차소성하였고 2차소성은 1.5㎥ 가스 가마에서 마침온도 1240℃로 10시간 동안 환원 소성하였다. 3차소성은 0.3㎥ 전기 가마에서 마침온도 810℃로 8시간 동안 소성하였다. 본 연구자는 기존의 틀에서 벗어난 새로운 시각에서 사물을 인지하고 본연의 형태에서의 미세한 변형이 아닌 연구자 개인의 감성으로 재창조된 독창적이고 창의적인 디자인의 도자물의 제작을 의도하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 인물과 사건들로 구성된 꿈 이야기인 「이상한 나라의 앨리스」를 선택하여 동화가 주는 환상적인 분위기를 관객에게 전달하며, 등장하는 인물과 사물의 이미지를 연구하여 특징적인 성격이나 재미있는 순간들을 포착하여 표현하였다. 주전자의 기능면보다는 형태적 특징을 응용한 조형물로 제작함으로써 보다 창의적인 표현을 할 수 있었고, 특히 주전자의 구조를 이루는 각 요소가 기능성을 떠나 풍부한 이야기를 전달하는 역할을 하도록 역점을 두었다. 본 연구를 통해 보는 이들에게 미적 만족을 주고 어린 시절의 향수를 느끼게 해주어 삶의 여유와 활력을 주고자 하였고, 끊임없는 상상력과 자유로운 표현을 통해 보다 새롭고 다양한 도자 조형물을 연구하는 기회로 삼았다.;The "Kettle" is a synthesizing nave of vessels which can be boiled containing water of alcohol within it and also can pour the inner liquid into other vessel by use of the protruded tube attached the vessel body. Our country generalized the kettle since the age of Korea, and from the very time it has been undergone many changes of the shapes of the lid, the hand-holder, and spout by ages. Even in modern time, it evades the traditional symmetrical types for seeking free types in addition that it takes diverse sources and colors since it became an attractive source of the molding art. This thesis has the purpose of making creative ceramic molding articles imbued opulent emotion by using the structural characteristics of the kettle. The notable thing is that the designers of various shapes of kettles were chosen according to the characters and objects of the "Alice in Wonder Land." The contents of this thesis consists of the followings: 1. An explanation of the structural characteristics of kettles. 2. A research about the transmission of the kettle and the different districts by ages. 3. A study of the molding articles by using the kettle frames. 4. A research of the juvenile literary distincts and contents. In manufacturing of the works imagined by the "Alice in Wonder Land", the works of 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 were done by the coiling technique proper to express freely the ever-changing thematic articles. And the works 1, 2, 7, 9 asked delicate, but simple effects in addition to gorgeous colors were done by the slipcasting method. In using art clay, the stone clay is used on the coiling technique and the super-white of Goryodoto and Milyang white clay is used on the slipcasting method by the proportion of 7:3. As for the glaze, the clear glaze and copper glaze were used by soaking or spraying, and the high-temperature proof colors were used. Also, to enlarge the effect of a fairy-tale, general paints were partly used. Through the above research, this thesis tries to discern things with the new sight deviated from existing frames so as to manufacture unique and creative ceramic articles by researcher's personal emotional power, not by miscellaneous changes based on the traditional shape. For this purpose, the "Alice in Wonder Land" which is constituted with various persons and incidents was chosen to transmit the fantastic atmospheres of a fairy tale and to make an opportunity to develop the researcher's creative emotional expressions. As to the burning, the first burning lasted for eight hours toward 850℃ within a gas kiln of 1.5㎥, and the second burning lasted for ten hours toward 1250℃ within gas kiln of 1.5㎥ size. And the third burning lasted for nine hours toward 810℃ within a electric kiln. The images of each things and persons were sought to catch the distinctive elements, imminent developings of situations and curiously odd moments, in order that each elements constructing kettles can contain the opulent effects of telling the fairy tale. Conclusively, this thesis was focused on the psychological beauty, not on the prdactical usefulness, in manufacturing kettles. This research was aimed to offer the appreciators the serenity of mind and vitality by giving aesthetic satisfaction and nostalgia for our childhood, and was also access to research the newer and more diverse ceramic molding articles by expressing ceaseless power of imagination and freedom.
