혼합매체에 의한 조형적 표현 연구

Abstract

Contemporary formative art, as the professional specialists in various regions would use diversifed materials through the means of expanding their visual vocabularies and the sphere of works, has become somewhat ambiguous to accurately classify the artistic form because of mutually disseminating the concept of fine art. To couple with this peculiar phenomenon, modern fiber art also, casting off the existing traditional concept pursuant to the variety of modes required by the current times, was considered to be extremely diversified through introducing all the elements inclusive of the concept of one-dimensional line, the concept on two-dimensional plane, the concept of three-dimensional solid and four-dimensional horological concept. The expansion of expressional materials engineered by these specialists has reached to extensive region ranging from the materials prior to historical age, timely needed industrial materials produced by scientific civilization i.e., vinyl, neon-sign (illumination device), video tape and computer film, etc., to the spearhead media, and these materials were qualified to provide fiber artists with diversified techniques in representing their peculiarities and aesthetic sensation. In this thesis, an observation was made on the concept of composite media appeared due to the background of the times through theoretical background, and a further emphasis was placed on developing the composite media and presenting its possibility with the analytical studies on the specialists' works through using media more than two kinds according to the increasing concerns toward new materials of those specialists in the field of fiber art. With regard to the manufacturing process of actual works, an attempt was also made to describe the recreated city as the actual existence of the author with the image obtained from the composite urban shape of all the materials through using the composite media. By utilizing the properties that were similar or contrary to each other possessed by the composite media, it was intended to create the possibility and to enlarge a new formativeness through assembling a solid or dimensional form pursuant to the repetion of units together with materializing the primary intention.;현대 조형예술은 시각적 어휘와 작품영역을 확대시키는 수단으로 다양한 재료를 사용함에 따라 미술개념들이 상호 확산 되어 예술형태의 정확한 구분이 모호하게 되었다. 현대 섬유예술도 종래의 전통적 개념에서 탈피하여 그 양식도 1차원적 선의개념, 2차원적 면의개념, 3차원적 입체개념, 4차원적 시간개념을 모두 도입시켜 다양하게 나타나게 되었으며 이러한 개념을 표출하기 위해 재료 또한 매우 다변화 되었다. 이러한 표현재료의 확대는 역사시대 이전의 재료부터 과학 문명이 낳은 시대적 산업재료 즉, 비닐, 네온, 비디오테이프, 컴퓨터 필림 등 첨단적 매체에 이르기까지 광대한 영역으로 발전하게 되었으며 다양한 기법과 함께 섬유예술가들의 개성과 미의식을 표현하는데 있어서 무한한 자유를 제공해 주고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 시대적 배경으로 인해 나타난 혼합매체의 개념에 대해 이론적 배경을 통해 고찰하였고 또한 혼합매체를 사용하는 섬유예술가들의 작품을 분석 연구하여 혼합매체의 개발과 가능성을 제시하였다. 실제 작품 제작 과정에서는 근원적으로 모든 매체의 복합체인 도시에서 부터 이미지를 얻어 연구자의 실체(reality)로서 재창조된 도시를 혼합매체를 사용하여 묘사하였다. 혼합매체에서 나타나는 여러재료의 특징과 재질을 대비, 조화시켜 형상화 하였고 유니트(Unit)를 반복 구성하여 입체적 형태로 조립함으로써 새로운 조형성의 확대와 가능성을 창출하고자 하였다.
