주한 외국인 노동자의 사진적 표현연구

Abstract

본 연구는 한국의 고도경제 성장에 따른 아시아 인접국과의 소득격차와 국내 노동자의 의식수준 변화에 의해 약 15만명에 가까운 외국인노동자의 불법 취업현황을 사회적, 경제적, 문화적 부작용과 그들이 처해 있는 현실을 명확한 기록을 통해 다큐멘터리 형식으로 표현하였다. 이러한 점에서 외국인 노동자의 대량 국내 취업현상은 최근 몇 년 사이에 비롯된 것으로 아시아 저개발국가에서 취업을 위해 한국에 온 그들은 낮은 임금과 열악한 근로조건에서 소규모 제조업체에 대부분 취업하고 있는 상태이다. 임금도 국내 노동자와 차별받고 있으며 최소한의 인간적인 대우를 해줘야 함에도 불구하고 인권침해와 열악한 작업환경으로 인한 산업재해도 자주 발생되고 있다. 외국인 노동자들은 법적으로 "근로자"로서 인정받아야 하지만 합법적 체류자격을 가진 "산업기술 연수생"이든 체류자격 자체가 적법하지 못한 "불법체류 노동자"이든 같은 형편이다. 본 연구자와 맥을 같이하는 도로디아 랭(Dorothea Lange)과 세바스티노 살가도(Sebastiao Salgado)의 사진과 많은 유사점을 갖는다. 도로디아 랭은 뉴저지에서 출생하였다. 그녀는 1930 년대에 이주노동자(Migrant Worker)에 대한 사진을 동정심에서 많이 아니라 사회저변에 깔려있는 모순에 대한 예리한 통찰력과 정치에 대한 분노에서 시작되었고 빈곤의 저변에서 고뇌하는 삶에 대하여 표현했다. 또한 세바스티노 살가도는 현대의 문명화된 중심부에서 끊임없는 인간의 활동을 시각적으로 잘 나타냈다. 그는 생존하는 어떤 작가보다 세계 빈곤층의 이미지를 우리의 눈으로 본 것 이상으로 설득력 있게 표현한 작가이다. 본 연구는 사실성에 바탕을 둔 외국인 노동자의 일상적인 삶과 위험하고 유해한 화학물질로 육체적, 정신적 피로를 가져다주고 길고 힘든 노동으로 인해 고통받는 이들을 사실적인 목적으로 제작되었다. 여기에 제시된 일련의 사례는 해외인력수입정책으로 우리사회에서 일어나고 있는 어두운 면을 고발 폭로하기로 했으며 사회 참여적 성격을 떤 기록수단의 사진으로 표현되고 있다. 가장 깊은 의미에서 노동자에 대해 느끼는 감정의 표현이고 그럼으로써 그들의 삶 전체에 대하여 진정한 표현이다. 그럼으로써 불필요하게 복잡한 기법이나 표현으로 하기보다는 직접적인 이미지를 전달하고자 한다. 본 작품은 그 과정에서 일어나는 외국인 노동자를 본인의 관점에서 휴머니티에 근거하는 시각에서 보여주었다.;This study was inteaded to be documentary recall of poor working conditions and social, economic and cultural problems that are faud by approxinately one hundred fifty thousand foreign workers who came to Korea to make money at jobs that are no longer wanted by local workers. whose contry has achieved high economic growth and thus increasing the per capita GNP gap with neghboring Asian contries. Foreign workers mass emplyment in Korea started recentry , in the last few years. These workers from underdeveloped Asian contries receive low wages and work in small manufacturing firms with poor working conditions. Their human rights are violated and they are often victims of industrial accidens. Whether they are here with leger trainee's visa or here working illegally, they do not have the legal right as workers in Korea. The works of Dolothea Lange and Sebastiao Salgado have many similarities with this study. Born in New Jersey, Dorothea Lange showed suffering lives of the poor in her works of Migrant workers of the 1930's not only with compassion but also with sharp insights contradictions rooted deep in the society and anger at pohitics. Sebastino Salgado's works are visual. representation of ceaseless human activities in the midst civilized mordern world. Based on reality, this study focused on foreign workers' normal daily routiness and physical and emotionnal sufferinrs from lang and hard work, endangered by toxic chemicals. While photographing them, I were ableto understand and sympathize with them. The case s shown in this study are to disclose the dark side of the goverment's policies on foreign workers and are documentary records to be viewed with sociologic aspects. The images are photographed bared on humanitarianism that grew in myself toward the foreign workers.
