염료의 번짐에 의한 선의 자율성 표현 연구

Abstract

예술에 있어서 무의식(unconscion)의 반영은 각기 상이한 방식으로 현대 예술의 표현 영역을 확장시키며 전개된다. 이러한 현대 미술의 경향은 장르 구분이 확실치 않은 다양한 기법에 의한 자기 표현으로 대상을 표현하고 있으며 이러한 경향은 새로운 오브제의 등장, 과학의 발달로 얻어진 매체의 다양화 등과 함께 예술의 개념적 정의를 크게 확장시켰다. 다양한 기법에 의한 자기만의 독자성을 띠고 대상을 표현하는데 있어 그것이 주는 이미지(image)를 정확히 전달하기 위해 적절한 재료를 선택하여 예술가의 메시지와 함께 그 재료의 특성에 맞는 표현을 하고 있으며 따라서 과거에 감각적 인지통로를 중심으로 파악되던 각 예술 분야의 장르적 구분은 현대에 이르러 점차 그 의미를 잃어가고 있다. 우리 나라의 섬유예술은 크게 두가지로 구분할 수 있다. 그 하나는 장인 정신이 받침이 된 공예 작업을 하는 경우이고, 또 하나는 조형적 표현을 주목적으로 자유 조형에 가까운 다양한 표현을 시도하는 경우이다. 전통 공예의 '장인 정신'과는 단절을 요구하는 듯한 수많은 현대 공예 작가들의 이같은 의식의 변화는 작가들의 마음 속의 갈등으로 이어지고 우리나라 섬유미술계 일반이 겪고 있는 하나의 공통적 고민으로 생각된다. 이러한 시대적 상황하에 본 연구자는 섬유예술의 다양한 표현 중에서 염색의 표현 기법중 염료의 번짐에 의한 조형 표현으로 사고의 제한없는 자유로운 흐름의 과정을 표현하고자 하였다. 동양화의 발묵(潑墨)에 기인하여 대상의 설정없이 무의식적 경험이나 충동에 의해 자율적으로 나타나는 선을 통해 우연적인 행위를 허물어내고 화면을 재구성하려는 의지로 연구자의 내면 세계를 형상화하고자 하였다. 염료의 번짐을 통한 자율적인 선의 움직임은 정신적 행위의 흔적이며 무한한 공간속에서 자연적 이미지로서의 역할을 갖게 된다. 그러한 선은 공간과 공간을 연결하여 면을 이루었고, 우연히 흐른듯한 염료 위에 지우듯 덧발라진 염료들의 '층'은 공간화된 평면을 강조하면서 마음 깊은 곳, 혹은 우주적 공간으로 나타난 듯한 무한함을 조형 요소로 표현하고자 하였다. 섬유와 염료라는 표현 매체는 본 연구자의 정신적 측면의 표현 의도에 적합하며 어느 측면에서는 표현 매체의 자율성을 강조하는데 상승 효과를 주고 있다. 염료의 번짐 효과를 극대화할 수 있는 표현을 위하여 유리와 같은 고밀도의 판을 매개체로 사용하였으며, 유리판과 견섬유 사이에 생기는 공간과 섬유에 함유된 수분량에 따른 염료의 번짐과 방염 효과는 대상의 설정없이 무의식의 표현을 적극적으로 할 수 있는 충분한 자극과 함께 연출해 주고 있어, 연구자의 독창적인 세계를 표현할 수 있도록 본 연구의 성취 동기를 마련해 주는데 충분하였다. 그러나 염료의 번짐으로 젖은 섬유에서 방염없이 이루어지는 작업은 의도된 농도의 색채가 전조시 흐리게 염착되어져 가장 큰 문제점으로 생각되며 실험을 통한 섬유의 전처리와 염료의 농도, 건조 시간 등으로 해결 방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 앞으로 본 연구자는 염료의 특성을 이용한 자율적인 선의 조형성을 표현하기 위해, 염료의 번짐에 의한 표현 효과에 대한 실험 연구를 통해 작업에 대한 이론적, 실제적 틀을 형성해 가는 계기를 마련하고자 하며, 이를 통해 앞으로 새로운 표현 가능성을 모색하여 본 연구자의 조형관이 보여지는 보다 차원높은 작품 제작에 대한 방향을 설정해 보고자 한다.;In art, unconsciousness is presented in each different ways extending modern art's expression area. A trend of modern art has an expression by various skills, and this trend has expanded the definition of art with variety of mass-media and entrance of new obze´e. To transmit image in expressing their own individuality and objects, they choose proper materials, and express to each materials. Accordingly, past's genre division of each art is losing its meaning. Our fabric art is generally divide into two things. One is an artistic craft supported with craftsmanship, and the other is an attempt to express variously, which is close to liberal modeling. This seems to require the rupture with traditional art craft, and is one of anogines which our fabric art is suffering in common. Under the circumstances like this, I tried to express an unlimited, free process of thoughts with modeling expression by dyes spread among various dying skills. I also attempted to form my inner world with the intention of restructuring screen through lines liberally presented by unconscious experience or impulse. Liberal movement of lines through dyes spread is a trace of spiritual behavior, and has a role as a natural image in unlimited space. Those lines connect space to space and made aspects. Layers of dyes are modeling elements emphasizing deep, universal infinity. The expression devices, fabric and dyes, are proper to my spiritual expression intention and give elevating effects emphasizing the liberalism of expression media. For an expression which maximizes dyes spread effect, I used a highly-densed board like glass as a medium. The space between glass and silk, dyes spead effects are expressed sufficient stimuli and they helped me express the motivation of this study. However, a work done by dyes spread has a big problem that intended color gets blurry when dry, so I tried to grope about resolution with some experiments. In the future, I'd like to make a moment of theoretical, practical mould on works through experiments and studies of dyes-spread-expression effect. I also try to set up a direction toward producing works which my modeling view can be seen through.
