번지기를 이용한 결의 이미지 표현 연구

Abstract

From the ancient times man has decorated himself with many things to symbolize his status in society. In the present, decorations are popularized and universal as practical goods of life through continuous development of materials and researches. And also the usage isn't limited to decorating a particular part of body of clothes, but as one independent art decoration takes a role in activating the beauty of technical art. In modem society, accessories are being accepted by many people as daily necessaries, and as their usage and kind are not only diverse but also favored that they can be said as the goods sensitive to the fashion of the times. Therefore, the meaning of accessaries changes with the changes of the times. The scarf, one kind of accessories, at first was confined to a mere assisting role, but it eventually has been elevated to a leading role in determining the whole atmosphere of a fashion. After being introduced to this country in the 1930s, the scarf began to be popularized not only as a protector against wind or the cold but also as accessories. As the consumers' aesthetical consciousness and demands elevated through the development of industrialized society and changes of the times, more original and characteristic designs of scarf began to be needed. We can say that the aesthetical value of dyeing as a handicraft lies in giving soft images of cloth and emotional security to man through natural harmony by the spread of dye on cloth when modem living is dried and cut and man is isolated from the scientific development and mechanization of society. We must take advantages of this scarf, develop designs that can respond to the modem consumer's desire, and explore the possibility of mass production. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to express formatively the textural images of casual lines formed by blotting. As the theoretical background, the concept and changes of scarf have been investigated and the shapes and patterns of contemporary scarf designs have been classified. In actual manufacturing, the intent has been to harmonize the textural images of nature with images of dream by using accidental repeated lines from blotting of dye on cloth. Different cloths have been used to pursue diverse formatively of blotting, and drying time has been tested to control and get proper lines on cloth. Through the test, the best dyes and methods of dyeing have been found, and based upon these textural images designed that later processed with screen printing and paraffin resisting. And finally 10 works have been manufactured. The conclusion through analysis of these works is as follows : First, I have tried to emphasize the transparency of blotting effect with the repeated lines by differing the similar colors step by step. But the resulted impression is rather weak in spite of the whole softness. Such is one characteristic of blotting technique but also a limitation against free expression. Second, when using complementary colors to get strong contrast, we get colors of low chrome after blotting many times. Third, using supplementarily wax resist on the transparent lines from blotting to change the chroma and evaluation step by step, we can express the sense of space and depth more strongly. Fourth, I have expressed the rhythmical wave patterns through screen printing to heighten the decorative quality of scarf, and the result is that my color plan toward low chroma and monocolor has added the decorative beauty in the formal respect but the effects of color scheme and one change have been rather weak that they require somewhat stronger expression. I will make efforts to develop designs of scarf and produce them which will respond to the artisticality, practicality, and consumer's aesthetic need and sense.;옛 부터 인간은 사회 속에서 소속을 상징하기 위하여 각종 장식품을 통하여 스스로를 장식 하였다. 현대에 와서 그 재료의 개발과 꾸준한 연구에 의해서 생활 속에 대중화되고 실용적인 보편성을 띠게 되었다. 그리고 그 쓰임 역시 인간의 신체 어느 부위나 의복을 치장하는데 그치지 않고 하나의 독립된 예술로서도 공예의 미를 활성화시키고 있다. 현대사회에 있어 장신구는 생활용품으로서 많은 사람들에게 수용되고 있으며 그 용도와 종류가 다양할뿐 만아니라 기호적이기 때문에 시대의 유행에 따라 민감한 변화를 갖는 제품이라고 할수 있다. 장신구의 일종인 스카프도 의복에 대한 개념이 변화하면서 보조적 역할에서 점차적으로 패션의 전체적 분위기를 좌우하고 리드해가는 주도적 위치로 그 비중이 확대되었다. 1900년대 초에 우리나라에 도입된 스카프는 방한·방풍의 역할 외에 여성의 장신구로서 대 중화되어왔고 이후 산업사회의 발전과 시대의 변화에 따라 소비자들의 미적의식과 욕구가 상승하여 보다 독창적이고 개성적인 디자인의 스카프를 원하게 되었다. 이러한 소비자들의 욕구에 대응하기 위하여 천이 지닌 부드러움과 염료가 천에 침투해 이루어내는 자연스러운 조화로 현대사회의 메마른 생활에 안정감을 줄 수 있는 수공예로서 염색이 가진 장점을 살린 스카프 디자인을 개발하는데 중점 을 두었다. 위와 같은 취지에서 본 연구는 염색의 번지기기법에 의한 우연적인 선들로서 결의 이미지를 조형적으로 표현해 보고자 하였다. 이론적 배경으로 스카프의 개념과 변천을 살펴보고 현대 스카프 디자인에 있어서 그 형태와 문양등을 분류해 보았다. 작품을 제작하는데 있어서 본 연구자의 표현 의도는 염료가 천위에서 번짐에 의하여 우연적으로 생기는 반복되는 선들을 이용하여 자연에서 보여 지는 결의 이미지와 본인의 꿈결의 이미지를 표현해보고자 하는 것이다. 이와 같은 번지기에 의한 조형성을 추구하기 위하여 각기 다른 천을 사용하여 천위에서 선이 형성되기 위한 염료의 건조시간 조절에 관한 실험을 하였다. 실험을 통하여 본 연구자의 표현 의도에 가장 적합한 염료와 건조상의 조절방법을 찾아내었고 이를 바탕으로 결의 이미지를 구상하고 부분적으로 스크린 날염 과 파라핀 방염을 첨가해서 10개의 작품을 제작하였다. 번지기효과를 이용하여 작품을 제작하는데 있어서 염료의 양과 건조시간에 따른 번지기 정도의 차이로 처음에 의도한대로 정확하면 분할이 이루어지지 않았고 한 방향으로 진행되는 번지기의 특성상 다양한 표현을 시도하는데 어려움이 있었다. 번지기를 이용하여 결의 이미지를 표현한 스카프를 제작하는데 있어서 작품으로서의 염색과 제품으로서의 염색, 즉 예술성과 상품성으로 서로 다르게 느껴지기 쉬운 이 두 가지 특성 을 조화시키는 데 어려움이 있었고 제작결과 예술성에 치우친 감이 있었다. 앞으로 소비자들의 미적의식과 감각에 부응한, 예술성과 실용성을 동시에 만족시킬 수 있는 스카프 디자인의 개발에 계속적인 노력을 기울이고자 한다.
