고등학교 8종 음악교과서를 중심으로 다문화적 관점에서의 외국민요 비교ㆍ분석

Abstract

이 연구는 제 7차 교육과정에 의한 고등학교 8종 음악교과서에 제시된 세계 음악 중 외국 민요를 다문화적인 관점에서 비교·분석하는 데에 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 다문화주의 교육개념과 음악교육에서 다문화적 관점의 필요성, 민요의 개념과 특징, 민요 교육의 필요성에 대한 연구와 우리나라 제 7차 음악과 교육과정에 나타나는 다문화적 요소에 대한 고찰과 고등학교 음악 교과서 분석으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구는 제 7차 교육과정에 의한 고등학교 1학년 음악 교과서와 교사용 지도서에 수록된 외국민요의 학습 내용에 포함되어 있는 다문화적인 요소를 조사, 분석했다. 선행 연구를 참고하여 다문화적 요소 분석을 위한 준거를 제시하고 이를 바탕으로 내용 분석표를 만들어 교과서와 교사용 지도서에 포함된 외국민요의 각 요소를 분석하는 방식으로 연구했다. 연구결과, 교과서의 출판사별로 외국민요를 다루는데 큰 차이를 보였는데, 대체로 다양한 지역, 충분한 수의 민요를 고루 다루는 출판사의 경우에는 학습 목표와 이해영역 및 활동영역 내용요소의 제시에 있어서도 다양한 문화권에 대한 관심을 충실히 반영하는 경향이 있었고, 수록된 외국민요의 수가 적고 서구민요 중심의 편파적인 분포를 보이는 출판사의 경우에는 민요의 학습 내용요소를 제시할 때에도 다문화적인 관점이 포함되지 않거나 불균형적인 시각을 지닌 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 몇몇 교과서에서는 다문화적인 요소를 적극 반영하면서 세계화에 맞게 변화해가는 의식적인 노력을 하고 있음을 엿볼 수 있었지만, 아직 많은 수의 교과서가 서구 음악과 국악의 이분법적인 사고를 그대로 드러내고 있다는 문제점을 발견할 수 있다. 다양한 문화권의 음악이 교육의 대상으로 다루어지면서 예전보다 훨씬 이에 대한 관심이 증가해가고 있다는 사실은 긍정적이다. 그러나 모든 출판사의 교과서에서 균형 있고 깊이 있게 다양한 음악과 문화적 요소를 다루어야 하며 이를 지도함에 있어서도 그 중요성을 간과하지 않도록 해야 하겠다. 우리가 알지 못하는 새로운 음악과 여러 민요, 더 나아가 새로운 학문에 대한 연구와 발견, 수업 연구와 학습 방법의 개발은 음악교육을 더욱 풍성하게 만들 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to analyze foreign folk song from multi-cultural point of view - focused on the analysis of eight different kinds of high school text books. This study includes the following contents: an introduction to multicultural education, the need for multicultural point of view in music education, analysis of the elements of folk songs, study of the needs of folk song education, study of multicultural features in Korea’s the 7thNational Curriculum Revision, and an analysis of Korea’s high school music text books. This study includes an investigation and analysis of the multicultural elements in curriculums presented in high school’s first grade music textbooks and teacher’s manual based on the 7th Korean National Curriculum Revision. This study provides a standard for the 7th Korean NCR of multicultural elements in reference to previous studies, and subsequently uses an analysis table to investigate the elements of foreign folk songs of current texts and manuals. This analysis showed that most of the current texts remained to dichotomize folk songs into Korean traditional folk and western folk songs, albeit a few texts showed attempts to reflect multicultural elements in contents. It is promising that the interest towards multi-cultural music is increasing with greater reflection in the musical curriculum. However, the importance of cultural diversity should not be neglected in the publishing of the texts as well as in instructions in the academic settings. Also, cross-cultural and collaborative efforts need to be actively employed in development of texts. The discovery of new music and folksongs, as well as development of improved learning and teaching techniques will enrich our programs in music education.
