현대 조형 예술에 나타난 미니멀리즘(Minimalism)적 특성과 실내 공간 구성에의 적용에 대한 연구

Abstract

As one of the reductiveral art trend, the minimalism, in the modern Plastic arts, excludes concrete introversion through minimalizing molding and begins with new awakening external reality which surrounds us. This minimalism is regraded as the zenith of modernism art that has been seeking for formal purism Minimalism which executes self-reductive, self-critical features of modren art extremely pursued minimlizing illusion, manufacture and simplifing form in the restrative trial to show the thing's nature itself so that it could renew the object concept. Paintings liberated from colors and forms can be founded in the joint of censual world and thoughful world of meaings while Cezane' painting switched over to minimalism. As a negative thought against Dadaism, anti artical trend played a role as a leader that leaded landmarking change and modern art thought. Duchamp and Malevich are the starts of minimal art in the arts of Donald Judd and Tony Smith, Carl Andre. The structual characteristics of minimalism can be divided into 4 parts objection, repetition, noninternality, reduction. It is explained that the reduction is a paintings a object, restoration of sculpture, a specific object and a single form. Stiructural feature is the big trend and basis of minimalist's art. In Minimal art, Frank Stella survived as a crucial early minimalist in the concrete paiting genre and consistantly challenged to himself. Sol Lewitt established and developed sqaure, line cubi, as a simple form. He started as a minimalist using limited colors such as white, black, the primiraly 3 colors and changed into conceptural artist using more or less method, Early minimalistic art which is strong,, indepemdent, automatic, regular has now subtle relationship with introduced reality. He is a resonable, modern artist who destroyed the existing things and restarted seriously so that created a distintive history in art. Additional important artists are Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Dan Flavin, Tony Smith. Their arts reflects minimalism features well. Minimalism in architecture is in the clean, efficiant and calm archtectural space. In the art of great artists such as Mies Vander Rohe and Richard Mire, we can see the minimalism sophistication and the architectural trend which gives cool feeling to modern people in this complicatd society. Minimalists expressed the basic concept of minimalism in the interior space through simple and suggestive space formation. I intend to study the strutural features of minimalism through the development of art its mental meaning. Human shall be the subject in the future interior, also I put an emphasis on the need to make the interior space more suggestive, efficiant and natural.;현대 조형 예술에 있어서 미니멀리즘은 환원주의적 미술경향의 하나로서 조형을 최소한으로 하여 추상의 내향성을 배제하고, 우리를 둘러싸고 있는 외적 현실에 대한 새로운 각성으로 출발했다. 이러한 미니멀리즘은 형식적 순수주의를 추구해온 모더니즘미술에 있어서 그 정점을 이룬것으로 간주된다. 모더니스트 미술의 자기환원 자기비판적 특성을 극단적으로 실행하여 모더니즘의 정점을 이룬 것으로 간주되는 미니멀리즘은 사물의 존재 그 자체를 드러내려는 환원적 시도 속에서 일루젼의 극소화, 제작의 최소화, 그리고 형식에 있어서 단순화를 추구하여 이로써 오브제(Object) 개념을 갱신하기에 이른다. 색채와 형태로부터의 해방된 회화는 세잔느의 미술이 미니멀리즘으로의 이행에서 가지는 의미의 감각 세계와 사유 세계와의 연대를 맺어준데서 찾을 수 있다. 다다이즘의 부정정신으로서 반 예술적인 성향은 현대 미술사에 있어서 획기적인 변혁과 현대 미술의 의식을 이끌어온 지도적 역할을 했다. 뒤샹과 말레비치는 도널드 주드나 토미 스미드, 칼 앙드레등의 작품에 있어서 미니멀 아트의 시발점이 된다고 할 수 있다. 미니멀리즘에 있어서 그 구조적 특성을 크게 물체성, 비내부성, 반복성, 환원성으로 구분지을 수 있다. 여기에서 환원성은 오브제로서의 회화, 조각에서의 환원, 특수한 오브제, 단일한 형태로 설명된다. 구조적 특성은 미니멀리스트의 작품에서 크게 대두되는 미니멀리즘의 성향이며 기초가 된다. 미니멀 아트에 있어서 프랭크 스탤라는 추상 회화라는 장르에서 그의 몇가지 연작을 통해서 초기 미니멀 아트의 중요한 인물로 끈질기게 버티면서 계속 스스로에게 도전해온 작가이다. 솔 르윗은 간단한 조직에 따라서 사각형·선·입방체를 설정하고 발전시키며 흰색·검정색·삼원색의 제한된 색만을 사용한 미니멀 입장에서 출발해서 후기에는 최소한으로 출발해서 무한에 이르는(Less is more)방법으로 개념 미술가로 전환한다. 초기 미니멀리즘적 성격이 강하고 자주적·자동적·규정성을 내포하고 있던 작품이 이제는 작품이 도입된 현실과 미묘한 관계를 이루고 합리적이고 현대적인 예술가이며 기존의 것을 파괴하고 진지한 태도로 새로이 출발함으로써 예술로서 독특한 역사를 이룩하였다. 그외에 주요한 작가로 도널드 주드, 로버트 모리스, 댄 플래빈, 토미 스미스 등의 작품에서 미니멀리즘의 특성이 잘 반영되어 있다. 건축에 있어 미니멀리즘은 깨끗하고 "능률적이고 차분한"으로 정의되는 건축 공간에 사로 잡혀 전개 되었는데 미스 반데로에 부터 리차드 마이어등의 거장들의 작품에서 미니멀이 주는 세련미와 좀 더 복잡한 사회에 대한 현대인이 갖고자 하는 시원함을 주는 건축적 성향이 나타난다. 실내공간에 있어서도 미니멀 작가들은 단순하면서 함축적인 공간구성을 함으로써 미니멀리즘의 근본 개념을 나타내고자 하였다. 이와 같은 미니멀리즘의 정신적 의미와 작품상의 전개을 통한 구조적 특성에 대해 고찰해보고 앞으로의 실내디자인 분야에 있어서 인간이 주체가 되는 것을 기본으로 하고 보다 함축적이고 능률적이고 자연스러운 공간 구식의 필요성을 강조함에 연구의 의의를 둔다.
