Abstract
;The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation tools for science class assessed by student in a way of evaluation for higher quality of the class through promoting the development of teacher's capacities and extending professionalism. For preliminary study, it analyzed evaluating area and elements for class evaluation previously developed and defined the details of each elements. In addition, the element only for science class evaluation was added to general evaluating elements to make an objective and concrete evaluation tool. The evaluation tool developed in this study divided class activities into 3 stage including pre-class activity, class implementation and post-class activity. It composed of plan and preparation in the stage of pre-class activity; formation of learning environment and teaching in class implementation; and evaluation in the stage of post-class activity. The domain of plan and preparation had 3 evaluating elements and 10 evaluating questions; that of formation of learning environment had 4 evaluating elements and 8 evaluating questions; that of teaching had 4 evaluating elements and 13 evaluating questions; and that of evaluation had 2 evaluating elements and 5 evaluating questions. For validity, it was asked to 22 of juniors and seniors (called preservice teacher) listening 'pre-education practice' and 34 of in-service teachers. Each evaluating questions gives 5 points with form of Likert' scale, therefore, higher score means adequacy for science class evaluating questions assessed by students. The validity for evaluating questions was 4.00 (80%) in pre-service teachers and 4.02 (80.4%) in in-service teacher, so it means that the contents of evaluating questions are suitable. The reliability of all questions was 0.66 meaning good in general. In addition, to analyze the difference in validity between pre-service and in-service teachers, it conducted t-test for two independent samples and their different opinion was presented in 3 questions. However, 1 question under 3.50 (70%) in both groups was eliminated. The pre-service teachers are the students attending a lecture 'pre-education practice' and they visited a school at science class in the middle and high school. Therefore, this study assumed that they are located between students and teachers and expected the results might be different with that of in-service teachers. However, the result was generally high without large difference with that of in-service teachers, so it meant questions of the evaluation tool is adequate. To use the evaluation tool developed as a common tool for quality of science class, it needs to reflect in-service teachers' opinion more and to refer to the parties to evaluation, student's opinion. Besides, there is a tendency to have different contents and form of class by individual character of teacher, therefore, it is expected that, if there is continuous development of new teaching methods and teachers make the evaluation by students to the basis of self-study it may be the evaluation tool suitable for the ultimate purpose of class evaluation, teacher's professionalism and quality of class.
