구스타프 클림트 회화를 응용한 크로셰의상 디자인

Abstract

Modern costume is, beyond its basic function of physical protection of human body, a life art which reflects individual life style as well as inner landscape of a person through technical method and completion of shape. In modern society which is becoming more uniform with development of industrialization, costume is a tool to satisfy the need of seeking characteristic ego, presenting differentiated image than other people. Under this circumstances, this study paid attention to the works of Gustav Klimt and reconstructed its motifs, integrated them with costume design. The result was practical, decorative and original crochet clothes. Contemporary crochet clothes are, with new phase and diverse technic, growing into the level of textile art, from the old practical and functional aspect. It can be said 'artistic art' which consists of psychological sense and technical function. As for reconstruction of decorative motifs, crochet art allowed unique texture and formative beauty from atypical free construction as well as exquisite one. The clothes design of this study was developed from reconstruction of Gustav Klimt images including gorgeous colors, symbolic lines, patterns and decorations, and the purpose was laid at making of unique, creative costume image with modern sense and adding artistic value on knit clothes. As for the contents and method of this study, I analysed formative aspects of Gustav Klimt in his art, line, color and shape and reviewed the cases where his works had been employed in modern costume. The concept, history and works of crochet were synthetically reviewed on domestic and foreign literature and pictures. On the basis of that, I reconstructed the decorative lines and figures in Gustav Klimt paintings into motifs and created 8 pieces of crochet clothes. The conclusions are as follows; First, painting, I can say from the findings, is important motif for contemporary costume design, and according to the individual thinking and expression, can be a major momentum for development of original design. Especially the organic lines and decorative patterns of Gustav Klimt paintings were suitable for rich decorative motif of costume design. Second, the unique colors of Gustav Klimt paintings can, if introduced to costume, allow new color combination. Third, crochet technic, by the texture of material, can present rich expression even with the basic knitting only. Especially the embroidery metallic thread, the main material for this study, was good for expression of gorgeous and classy image, in spite of the difficulties from its typical luster and embossed feeling. And the mohair, used as decorative motif, allowed more three dimensional expression, with its rich voluminous and tangling property. Fourth, in applying Gustav Klimt paintings to costume design, other technics such as knitting, beading, applique, and patchwork helped creation of more unique clothes, presenting possibilities of rich artistic expression. The texture presented in crochet, the main expressive method in this study, could represent gorgeous and classy image of Gustav Klimt paintings into crochet clothes with multiple colors and relief texture.;현대의상은 인간에게 필요한 신체 보호의 기본적인 수단을 넘어서 기술적인 방법과 형태의 완성을 통해 내면의 세계를 나타냄과 동시에 개인의 삶을 반영하는 생활예술이다. 산업화의 발달과 더불어 획일화되어 가는 현대 사회 속에서 의상은 개성 있는 자아를 찾고자 하는 욕구 충족을 위한 수단으로서 다른 이들과는 차별화된 이미지를 표출하고 있다. 자아 표현을 위한 독창적이고 창조적인 의상 디자인을 위해서는 순수미술과 응용미술이라는 경계의 이분법적인 근대적 사고를 넘어서 양자 간의 이해 상호작용을 통한 새로운 디자인 개념을 추출하고 이를 창의적으로 활용하는 것이 중요한 요소가 되었다. 현대의 많은 디자이너들은 개성을 표현 할 수 있는 독특한 소재와 다양한 표현기법을 활용하여 보다 차별화된 이미지를 구축하고자 독창적인 아이디어 창출을 위해 노력하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 흐름에 따라 본 연구에서는 구스타프 클림트(Gustav Klimt 1862-1918)의 작품에 주목하였다. 구스타프 클림트는 현대 패션 디자이너들에게 지대한 영감을 주는 작가로 인정받고 있으며 그의 작품은 여러 가지 다양한 패션 분야에 응용되고 있다. 본 연구는 구스타프 클림트 작품에서 모티프를 재구성하여 의상 디자인에 접목시킴으로써 실용성, 장식성, 독창성을 겸비한 크로셰 의상을 제작하였다. 현대 크로셰 의상은 과거의 실용적이고 기능적 차원에서 벗어나 새로운 양상과 다양한 테크닉의 발전으로 섬유 예술 차원으로 발전하고 있으며, 심리적인 감성과 기술적 기능의 조화로 이루어지는 ‘예술적인 기술’ 이라고 할 수 있다. 특히 니트만의 독창적인 표면 질감은 소재의 신축성으로 인한 활동의 편의성뿐만 아니라 소재의 복합성으로 디자인의 다양성, 드레이프성과 성형성에 의한 조형적인 자유로움 등의 특성으로 현대의상의 조류에 적합하여, 크로셰의 형태와 표현 기법면에서 표출되는 독창성과 그에 따른 조형적 가치는 예술적으로 인정받고 있다. 크로셰 기법은 장식적인 문양을 재구성함에 있어 섬세한 모티프 구성은 물론, 비계획적인 형태의 자유로운 구성으로 독특한 재질감과 조형미를 표현 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 의상 디자인 전개는 구스타프 클림트의 회화에서 나타나는 이미지 즉, 화려한 색채, 상징적인 선과 문양, 장식들을 모티프로 재구성하여 제작함으로서 독특하고 창작적인 현대적 감각의 의상이미지를 창출하고 니트 의상에 예술적 가치를 부가하는데 목적을 둔다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 문헌고찰을 통하여 구스타프 클림트의 작품세계와 선, 색채, 형태에 다른 조형적 분석을 하였으며, 20세기 초부터 회화 작품이 현대 의상에 응용된 사례를 국내외 문헌과 사진자료, 인터넷을 통해 살펴보았다. 또한 현대의상에 나타난 구스타프 클림트의 회화사례를 살펴보았으며, 크로셰의 개념과 역사, 작품사례를 국내외 문헌과 사진 자료들을 통하여 종합. 검토하였고, 이를 토대로 구스타프 클림트 회화의 장식적 선과 도형을 모티프로 재구성하여 구스타프 클림트 회화의 몽환적이고 에로틱한 이미지를 표출하는 크로셰 의상 총 8점의 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 회화는 현대 의상 디자인에 있어 중요한 모티프이며 개인적인 사고와 표현 방법에 따라 독창적인 디자인 개발의 주요 원동력이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 특히 구스타프 클림트 회화의 유기적인 선과 장식적인 문양들은 의상 디자인의 풍부한 장식적 모티프로 적합하였다. 둘째, 구스타프 클림트 회화작품의 독특한 색상을 의상에 도입함으로서 새로운 색채배합의 계기를 마련할 수 있었다. 셋째, 크로셰기법은 소재가 지니는 재질감에 따라 기본 뜨기만으로도 풍부한 표현이 가능하였다. 특히 이번 연구 작품의 주요 소재인 메탈 자수사는 고유의 광택과 부조적인 느낌으로 작업 시 어려움이 있었으나 화려하고 고급스러운 이미지 표현에 적합하였으며, 장식 모티프로 사용된 모헤어는 풍부한 볼륨감과 엉기는 특성으로 보다 입체적인 표현이 가능했다. 넷째, 크로셰 기법으로 구스타프 클림트 회화를 의상 디자인에 적용함에 있어 니팅, 비딩, 아플리케, 패치워크 등의 표현 기법이 함께 응용되어 소재를 구성함으로서 풍부한 예술적 표현의 가능성을 제시하여 독특한 의상 디자인을 창출할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 구스타프 클림트 회화에서 보여지는 선과 도형을 크로셰 기법으로 의상에 도입함에 있어 회화 작품에서 보여 지는 화려한 황금색과 유기적인 선, 상징적인 문양들을 모티프로 재구성하여 니트 의상을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 주 표현 기법인 크로셰로 표현되는 독창적인 표면 질감은 구스타프 클림트 회화의 화려하고 고급스러운 이미지를 다양한 색채와 부조적인 질감의 크로셰 웨어로 표현할 수 있었다.
