실내공간 디자인에 있어서 은유를 통한 상징의 표현형식에 관한 연구

Abstract

인간은 자신들의 삶을 위해서, 그리고 절대적인 어떤 것을 위해서 '장소'라는 매체를 통해 인간본능의 욕구와 정신 세계의 표현을 의미화하고 조직하여 공간을 의미전달의 매개체로 인식하여 왔다. 이러한 의미전달의 매개체인 공간에 인간본능의 욕구와 정신세계를 표현함에 있어서 인간정신에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 의미를 지니는 요소로서, 또한 의미의 표현과 전달을 하는 개념적 요소로서, 상징적 개념을 적용하게 된다. 상징적 개념의 적용을 통한 공간 성격의 표현에 있어서 내용, 즉 의미가 형식으로 표현되는 공간의 Volume과 이를 이루는 여러 형태의 요소들의 관련성을 인식하게 됨으로써, 공간의 성격 표현 요소들의 형상화 과정으로서 가치추구와 의사전달의 매체인 공간을 인지하게 되는 것이다. 하나의 공간에 의미로서의 정신세계가 형식으로서의 상징적 표현형식을 통해 어떻게 표현되어질 수 있는가를 고찰하기 위해 다음과 같은 과정을 거쳐 연구되어 졌다. ·상징의 기본 개념으로서의 은유적 표현을 이해하고, ·이를 통해 형성된 상징체계의 기능과, 의미를 형식적인 '형상'으로 표현하기 위한 표현형식들을 Suzane K. Langer의 예술론을 바탕으로 고찰하였다. · 표현하고자 하는 정신적 내용의 의미를 상징의 표현 형식을 빌어 시각화하여 공간에 적용하는 단계로서는 개념언어의 도출 - 시각적 심상언어 도출 - 형태언어 도출, Programing, Designing의 과정을 거쳐 형상화하였다. · 마지막으로 종합 및 평가의 단계에서는 이용자측면에서의 반응에 대한 평가로서 형태미학적 요소, 기능적 요소, 주체성, 이용자의 심리적 반응으로 세분하여 이루어졌다. 이러한 연구를 바탕으로 얻어진 결론은, 1. 예술의 목적은 <통찰>, 곧 감정의 본질적 삶을 이해하려는데 있다. 모든 이해는 추상화를 요구하며, 축어적 추론에 의하는 추상화들은 감정의 삶이라는 특수한 소재에 있어서는 무용지물이며, 그러한 추상화들은 생명력과 원초적 감각에 대한 우리의 관념들을 전달하기 보다는 그것들을 모호하게 하고 위조한다. 2. 그러나 은유와 상징화 작용이 없으면 어떠한 이해도 존재할 수 없으며, 추상화가 없으면 어떠한 상징화 작용도 존재할 수 없다. 어떤 실재, 곧 표현되고 전달되어야 하는 것은 반드시 현실로부터 추상화 되지 않으면 안된다. 3. 우리가 이해하고 인식하는 것, 곧 관념은 언제나 형성작용, 제시, 따라서 추상화를 포함한다. 4. 공간을 상징에 의한 이미지 체계로 파악함으로써 미적 차원의 가치와 정신적 가치를 상승시킬 수 있다. 5. 이미지에 대한 적극적인 탐구와 접근을 통해 실내환경 디자인에 있어서의 독창성과 다양성의 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 이와 같이 연구과정과 결론을 통해, 본 연구는 전달하고자하는 의미를 표현하는데 하나의 방법으로서 상징의 개성적인 표현형식을 추구하고, 자신이 전달하고자 하는 것을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 방법을 모색하는 데 도움이 될 수 있으리라고 기대 한다.;Throughout his life and existence, human beings have conceived space as a "medium of meaning transfer" able to organize expressions of desire within human instinct and the mental world through this medium of place. To express these desires of human instinct and the mental world in space, a "medium of meaning transfer," we use symbolic concepts not only as a factor which has meaning that directly influences human mentality but also as a conceptual factor to express and transfer the meaning. By understanding spatial volume, in which the meaning is expressed through form, as well as the relations of certain form factors which constitute the volume, we can conceive space, a "medium of value and meaning transfer," as a procedure toward materializing expressional factors of spatial character. In order to understand how the mental world (meaning) can be conveyed through expressions of symbolic forms (formality). In space, I have studied this matter through the following steps: - An inquiry into metaphorical expression as the basic concept is symbolism. - On the basis of Suzane K. Langer's theory, an inquiry into the function of symbolic systems and expressional forms to convey meaning through formality. - In order to visualize the meaning of the mental content through expressions of symbolic forms and then apply it to space, I have specified the following steps: extraction of the conceptual language, extraction of the visual image language, extraction of the formal language, programming, and design. - During the final part of this inquiry, I have examined morphological aesthetics factors, functional factors, subjectivity, and psychological responses by the user, as an evaluation of responses from the user's side. The inquiry has led to the following conclusions: 1. The purpose of art lies in insight, that is an understanding of the intrinsic life of emotions. Every understanding needs an abstraction. but an abstraction through a word-for-word reasoning is useless in trying to understand any special theme, such as the life of emotions. that kind of abstraction obscures our concepts of vitality and the basic senses. 2. We cannot understand anything without the operation of metaphors and symbols, and we cannot symbolize without abstraction. We have to abstract from the real world to express and transfer reality. 3. The concepts through which we understand and conceive things always include formational operations and presentation, which is the procedure of abstraction. 4. We can raise aesthetic and mental value by regarding space as the image system of symbols. 5. Through a sincere investigation and approach to images, we can solve the problems of originality and variety in the field of interior environmental design. In conclusion, I think that this inquiry can help to find these methods that express effectively the things which we want to transfer, as well as the original expression of symbolic forms as a method.
