꼴라쥬(Collage)를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션

Abstract

As the fashion industry becomes internationalized, the importance of Fashion Illustration, with its purpose of transmitting messages, increases. Both the academic world and industry have realized the importance of Fashion Illustration and have started to study it as a way of expressing a general image rather than merely as a diagram for making clothes. In this study, in order to give a composition of images of modern fashion, the unique sense of visual expression of fashion illustration and the tactual expression of collage using photo montage, thread, textile, and magazines are harmonized. The purpose of this study is to inspire the artistic intuition of modern people on fashion, and at the same time creatively express the modelized design of modern fashion, thus bring about a higher artistic value and broader artistic domain. For the theoretical foundation, domestic and foreign books and articles were investigated to derive at what part fashion illustration takes in art, the functions of various groupings of fashion illustration, and the history of Fashion Illustration. Also, the essence and origination of collage, and the various methods of creating it is dealt through studying various art pieces applying this method in the fields of painting, illustration, textile, clothing, and fashion illustration. Acrylic paint, gel medium, Impasto medium, printing gel, magazines, and other color paper were used along with thread and textile to create a unique effect of textual expression in the 8 pieces of actual work done throughout this study. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, collage as a method of expressing, with an endless potential not only in the field of fine arts but also in the fields of illustration, textile art, and modern artistic clothing, can bring a material revolution in the field of Fashion Illustration. Second, Fashion Illustration art pieces that use mixed collages of photo montages with various materials such as thread, paper, and textile, not only gives higher art value through expressing unique visual and textual effects but also expresses the multitudes of images of modern fashion. Third, collage, which emphasizes the textual expression of fashion illustration, can enhance the characteristics of an artist by providing the advantage of choosing from an endless variety of materials to create art. Fourth, By harmonizing actual clothing subjects and artistic expressions, a precise fashion message can be transmitted. Not only collages with its infinite potential but also other various methods of creating art can be brought into the field of fashion illustration to bring a brighter future in the field of fashion illustration.;오늘날 패션(Fashion) 산업이 국제화됨에 따라 패션 메시지 전달이라는 목적성을 띤 패션 일러스트레이션(Fashion Illustration)의 중요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 학계와 패션 업계에서도 점차 패션 일러스트레이션의 중요성을 인식하여 단순히 의복 제작과 연결되는 설명도의 그림뿐만 아니라 복식 전반의 이미지 전달을 위한 표현을 폭 넓게 연구하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 패션 일러스트레이션에 있어서 독특한 표면 재질 효과를 통한 현대 패션의 복합적인 이미지 전달을 위하여 사진, 실, 섬유, 잡지 등을 꼴라쥬하여 시각적 질감과 촉각적 질감을 동시에 조화시키고자 하였다. 이로써 현대인의 의상에 대한 예술적 직감력의 중요성을 고취시킴과 동시에 현대 패션의 이미지를 창조적으로 표현함으로써 예술적 가치를 높이고, 장식 목적의 패션 일러스트레이션을 연구하는데 목적을 둔다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로, 국·내외 도서 자료와 논문을 통해 패션 일러스트레이션의 개념과 기능을 알아보았고 점점 다양해지는 용도를 분류하였으며, 시초부터 현대까지의 시대별로 역사를 고찰하였다. 또한 꼴라쥬의 정의 및 발생 배경을 살펴보았고, 꼴라쥬의 다양한 표현 소재 및 기법을 회화, 일러스트레이션, 섬유 예술, 의상 분야에서 작품 사례를 통해 알아보았으며, 꼴라쥬 패션 일러스트레이션에 도입된 작가의 독창적인 표현 방법을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 본 연구의 작품 제작은 아크릴(Acrylic)물감, 젤 미디움(Gel Medium), 임파스토 미디움(Impasto Medium), 프린팅 젤(Printing Gel), 잡지, 그 외 색지류의 종이를 기본으로 사용하였고, 실, 섬유 등의 재료를 이용함으로써 꼴라쥬의 독특한 효과를 창출하고자 하였으며, 다양한 질감 표현과, 패션의 복합적인 이미지 전달을 중심으로 총 8점의 실물을 제작하였다. 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 꼴라쥬는 희화뿐만 아니라 일러스트레이션, 섬유 예술, 현대 예술 의상 등 예술 분야의 재료에 대한 무한한 잠재성을 지니고 있는 표현 기법으로 패션 일러스트레이션에 있어서도 다양한 표현의 개발 가능성을 지닌 기법임을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 포토 몽타쥬(Photo Montage)와 실, 종이, 섬유 등의 다양한 소재를 합성하여 꼴라쥬한 패션 일러스트레이션은 시각적, 촉각적 질감을 독특하게 표현하여 예술성을 높일 뿐만 아니라 현대 패션의 복합적인 이미지를 다각도로 전달할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 패션 일러스트레이션의 질감 표현을 강조한 꼴라쥬는 조형적 소재를 강조한 현대 패션 디자인을 표현함에 있어서 재료 사용이 무한하다는 장점으로 작가의 개성 및 작품의 이미지를 효과적으로 살릴 수 없음을 확인하였다. 넷째, 꼴라쥬 표현에 있어서 실제 의상 소재와 희화적인 표현을 조화시킴으로써 구체적인 패션 메시지 전달을 할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 사진, 실, 섬유, 종이를 주된 꼴라쥬 재료로 사용하였으나, 그 외 금속, 합성수지, 가죽 등 다양한 소재의 도입으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 소재 개발에 대한 연구가 계속되기를 바란다. 또한, 좀 더 강한 패션 메시지 전달을 위하여 표면의 입체적인 공간감을 강조한 꼴라쥬 기법이 도입·연구되어야 할 것으로 보인다.
