남북정상회담이후 청소년의 통일의식 연구

Abstract

As a single nation, we had developed a unified national tradition through realization of the spirit of national community, but we have suffered the division of the nation. The Korean society has been experiencing a noticeable change in its stance and attitude toward North Korea after the historic summit conference between two Koreas. The summit conference itself brought a cultural and mental shock that changes the deeply rooted way of thinking and consciousness toward North Korea from the Cold war. So the unification to recover national homogeneity has become the people's task of the utmost importance. The students who have never experienced the pain of division are lacking in knowledge and faith for the unification. Therefore, if is the foundation of unifiaction education of cultivating the national capacities that the reality of consciousness for unification of student are grasped correctly in the long run. The purpose of the present thesis is to search for the desirable direction of unification education by diagnosing their consciousness of unification and then finding out any problems they have. The research was conducted both by literature and questionnaire. The questionnaire was given to 561 students in the middle school and high school in Seoul and vicinity. Used total 39 question item as research instrument were the south Korean teenager's perception of Korean reunification. The collected answers were analyzed in percentage to extract the general tendency in the students consciousness of unification by the x^(2) verification, the validity of which being 0.5. As a result unification education must be emphasized on consciousness of national unification and should be prepared for the living after unification. Unification education must be emphasized on citizenship education related unification education and must be enforced to be objectively condition for unification. It is desirable that students think positively national unification and they have will to achieve the national unification. So that a great effort should be given to the system, contents, method etc as well as the policy related to national unification.;남북 정상들간에 이루어진 6·15 공동선언과 그 후속적인 남북관계의 진전이라고 할 수 있는 이산가족 상봉과 다양한 분야에서의 남북협력이라는 역사적 상황으로 인해 한반도에는 그 어느 때보다 통일에 대한 관심과 필요성에 대한 인식이 증대하고 있으며 남북정상회담이후 지난 50년간 우리의 국민 의식을 지배해 온 냉전적 사고방식에 질적인 변화를 일으키는 정신 문화적 충격을 가하고 있다. 통일을 위한 준비는 여러 가지 관점에서 검토 되어야하나 앞으로 통일한국을 이끌어 갈 주역이 현재의 청소년임을 생각할 때, 현재의 우리 청소년들이 어떤 모습을 하고 있으며 어떤 마음 자세를 가져야 하는지를 알아보는 것은 통일 준비의 중요한 요소라 생각된다. 따라서 본 논문에서 추구하는 목적은 설문조사를 통하여 청소년들의 남북정상 회담이후 통일의식과 국민의 정부 대북포용정책과 남북정상회담의 성과에 대하여 청소년들이 어떻게 인지하고 있으며 그것을 또 어떻게 평가하고 있는가에 대해 조사·분석함으로써 청소년들에게 올바른 통일의식을 정립시키고 통일승계세대로서의 역할과 기능을 제대로 수행할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 모색하는 데에 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 남북정상회담이후 청소년들의 통일의식 구조를 알아보기 위해서 문헌연구와 설문조사를 주로 활용하였으며, 서울·경기지역의 중·고등학생들에게 561부의 설문지를 배부하여 조사하였다. 설문내용은 통일관, 북한관, 국민의 정부 '대북 포용정책'에 대한 견해, 그리고 남북정상회담에 대한 견해 등 4개 영역으로 나누어져 있으며 총 39문항으로 구성되어 있으며, 자료의 분석 및 제시방법은 백분율(%)을 가지고 각 문항에 대한 응답자의 반응 경향을 파악하였고, 연구대상자의 배경변인에 따라 통일의식을 살펴보기 위해 x^(2)(Chi-Square)검사를 적용하여 유의성 검증을 실시하였다. 조국의 통일과 평화공존 체제의 정착, 발전에 기여하는 통일 교육이 되기 위해서는 청소년들에게 민족 공동체 의식을 고양시키고 합리적 의사 결정을 할 수 있는 민주 시민의 자질을 육성하여 통일 상황을 객관적으로 이해하고 통일을 대비하는 능력을 기르는 교육이 되어야 하겠다. 또한 통일에 대한 주체적 인식능력과 실천적 역량을 길러주는 체계적인 통일교육과 더불어 통일의 필요성 및 정부의 대북·통일정책을 비롯한 통일내용을 홍보와 이를 평가 할 수 있도록 하는 학습 기회가 많아져야 할 것이다.
