바우하우스의 조형예술을 통한 직물 디자인 연구

Abstract

예술 양식은 그 시대의 문화적 특성과 사회적 환경, 인간의 미적 욕구의 표현이다. 이러한 점을 지속적으로 볼 때, 직물은 2000년 이상의 오랜 역사에서 고유의 재료와 기법으로 그 시대의 대표적 예술양식이나 예술 사조와 밀접한 연관성을 보였고, 또한 구체적인 특성에 있어서도 그 맥을 같이 하였다. 이와 같이 직물과 예술운동이 밀접한 상호관계를 맺고 있다는 관점에서 볼 때, 바우하우스(Bauhaus 1919∼1933)는 현대 디자인의 구심점이자 모법이 되고 있으며, 창조력을 개발하고 책임있는 디자이너가 되도록 토대를 마련하였다. 또한 기초조형에 있어서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있으며, 종합 조형예술의 이념을 구현하고자 했고, 과거문화에 연루되지 않는 현실 생활의 문제를 전향적인 자세로 해결했다는 점과 그것을 실천하기 위해서 밝은 사상이나 풍습에 젖은 생각을 과감하게 타파했다는 혁신적인 전위정신 때문에 오늘날까지 높이 평가되고 있다. 본 연구에서 과학의 발달에 의한 산업혁명과 새롭게 대두된 실용 예술로서의 디자인 개념인 바우하우스의 조형 이념을 고찰하였다. 교육과 내용에 있어 재료나 형태, 색채에 대한 조형원리를 대비와 조화에 의한 표현으로 보다 구체적이고 분석적인 방법을 담당했던 교수들 중 요하네스 이텐(Johannes Itten)과 요셉 알버스(Josef Albers)의 조형론의 영향을 받은 바우하우스 직물의 특성을 연구하고, 새로운 감각의 직물을 제작하였다. 또한 작품을 제작하는데 있어 색채의 중요성과 색채가 갖는 상대적인 개념으로 수반하게 되는 질감의 중요성을 인식하고, 직물의 색채 및 질감효과를 대비적 관점에서 연구하였다. 작품제작에 있어 색채의 대비효과를 시각적으로 분석한 후 직물의 색채효과에 연관되어 나오는 형태 및 질감효과를 공간과 조화를 이루면서 표현하였다. 본 연구를 통해 직물에서 색채, 형태, 질감은 다른 조형예술분야와는 달리 섬유라는 재료의 특성들이 상호 보완적인 다양한 표현형태를 표출할 수 있음으로써 연구자의 작품에 기본적인 원리로 작용되었고, 작품 제작과정에 질감의 창조적 변화와 색채의 조화로 표현할 수 있었다.;An art mode expresses the cultural characteristics, societal environment, and human desires for the beauty of an age, In this light, it is manifested in the history of more than 2,000 years that textiles' unique materials and techniques have been closely connected with representative art modes or art trends of an age. The same can be said of textiles' concrete characteristics. Considering the close and mutual relationship of textiles and art movements, it is known that Bauhaus (1919-1933) is the center and example of modern design because Bauhaus has founded the basis for creative and responsible designers. Bauhaus has also played an important role in basic formative arts and made every effort to realize the ideas of the arts. The attribution of high praises to Bauhaus has resulted from the fact that Bauhaus has solved in a forward way the problems of our real life irrespective of the culture of past ages. Bauhaus' innovative and avant-garde spirit has been attested in that Bauhaus broke down courageously old thoughts and practices. This study was started with Bauhaus' formative ideas, the design concepts of practical arts that appeared freshly along with the Industrial Revolution resulting from scientific developments. While on the contrary, until now Bauhaus' theories have been partially evaluated in its relation to their formative elements highlighted in &ern arts. The author studied Bauhaus' theories by way of the formative theories of Johannes Itten and Josef Albers, professors who have analyzed the formative principles related to formative art materials, forms, and colors in a contrasting, harmonious, and more concrete way during their teachings. Their formative ideas and basic theories were materialized and their formative arts were established with the help of Bauhaus. The author reviewed the significance of Bauhaus from the perspective of textile workshops and paid close attention to visual changes in formative elements and qualitative senses of Bauhaus textiles. Based on this kind of theoretical backgrounds, the importance of colors and qualitative senses accompanied by relative concepts of colors were recognized in the production of the author's works. The colors and qualitative sense effects of each textile were also contrasted and researched. And the colors' contrast effects were visually analyzed and the forms and qualitative sense effects that are connected to the color effects of textiles were expressed in harmony with the space. Unlike other formative art field, the colors, forms, qualitative senses of textiles can be expressed in a diverse way and fibers' characteristics can mutually complemented. Consequently, these findings were applied to basic principles for the production of the author's works, reflecting the creative changes of qualitative senses and the harmony of colors.
