꽃의 형태를 응용한 도자합 디자인 연구

Abstract

자연은 무한한 의미를 지니고 있는 것으로 예술가들의 영감의 원천이며 관찰과 표현의 대상이 되어 왔으며 이들의 감성과 내면세계를 통하여 조형 활동으로 나타난다. 이런 자연물중에서 생명력과 풍요로움, 그리고 화려함 등으로 대표되는 꽃은 우리 생활문화 전반에서, 도자문화유산에서 빛을 발하며 현대 도자예술에서 다양한 형태로 예술가들에게 끊임없는 영감을 주고 사랑받는 소재이다. 이러한 꽃을 ·소재로 삼아 연구자는 실용성과 심미성의 조화를 이룬 도자합 디자인 연구를 생각하게 되었으며 본 연구에서는 꽃에서 느끼는 생명력과 아름다움을 연구자가 주관적으로 해석하고 응용하여 생활에서 아름다움과 편리를 추구할 수 있는 도자합 디자인의 연구를 목적으로 하였다. 디자인을 위한 이론적 배경으로 생활과 결부되어 아름다움을 나타내는 공예미와 공예품은 시대가 변할수록 쓰임과 형태가 변하며 그 공예품으로 인해 생활의 안락함과 풍요까지 기대할 수 있음에 대해 알고, 우리 전통과 관습에서 보이는 꽃은 아름다움, 화려함, 번영, 사랑, 건강 등의 긍정적 의미에 비유되어 영화로운 일 등을 상징함과 꽃은 번식을 목적으로 수정에 관계하고 꽃잎을 통해 형태가 결정됨을 알아보았다. 꽃이 형상화된 도자공예를 전통도자를 통해 살펴 도자예술에 표현된 꽃은 외적 아름다움 뿐 만 아니라 자연스럽고 따뜻한 민족정서까지 반영됨을 알아보고 그들이 표현한 꽃에 대한 폭넓은 아름다움에 대해서도 알아보았다. 우리나라 도자합을 시대 순으로 분류하여 우리 생활과의 관계를 알고 꽃의 형태를 응용한 합의 조형사례를 통해 합은 시각적으로 안정감을 이루고 과다한 장식을 배제하여 실용적이어야 하고 사용자에게 편리한 기능을 배려함은 물론 아름다움까지 고려되어야 하는 것을 알고 연구의 자료로 하였다. 디자인 연구과정에서 대상이 되는 꽃의 형태와 특징을 자료사진과 문헌을 통해 살피고 꽃 형태의 외곽을 단순화된 선으로 표현하여 확대, 왜곡, 변형, 중첩의 과정을 통해 디자인하였다. 제작방법으로 반복성형이 가능한 이장주입성형방법을 택하였으며 태토는 백색도와 안료발식을 효과적으로 나타내기 위하여 실크화이트 백토를 이용하였다. 유약은 10작품 모두 합이라는 실용기의 특성과 백색도와 안료발색을 돋보이게 하기 위해 투명유를 사용하였고 <작품 1>은 표면 질감을 효과적으로 나타내기 위하여 물건이 담기는 안쪽 부분만 시유하였다. 시유방법으로 투명감의 강조를 위해 담금시유방법을 택하였다. 소성방법은 1차 소성을 0.3㎥ 가스 가마에서 태토의 강도를 위해 최고온도 900℃까지 9시간 소성하였으며, 2차 소성은 동일 가마에서 최고온도 1250℃까지 12시간 환원염 소성하였다. <작품 4>, <작품 7>, <작품 8>은 2차 소성을 0.14㎥ 전기가마에서 최고온도 1250℃까지 10시간 산화염 소성하였다. 본 연구자는 위의 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 꽃의 형태를 이용하여 실용성과 심미성의 조화를 이룬 합 디자인을 함에 있어 소재로서의 꽃은 생활에서 공예의 아름다움을 전달하는 소재로서 적절함을 알았다. 둘째, 꽃이 형상화된 전통도예는 아름다운 우리 문화유산으로 조상들의 뛰어난 미적 감각을 재조명하여 전통도예를 이해하는데 도움이 되었다. 셋째, 공예로서의 합은 아름다움 뿐 만 아니라 실용적인 배려가 사용자에게 충족될 때 진정한 아름다움에 접근됨을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 꽃의 형태를 응용한 도자합을 실용과 장식의 개념으로 공간에 구성하고 연출함으로써 작은 실내정원을 계획할 수 있으며 여기에 실용에 대한 경험으로 생활의 풍요와 안락함까지 기대할 수 있음을 알았다. 공예가는 문화와 생활을 이해하는 폭과 안목을 넓히고 새로운 문화에 능동적으로 대처하여 대중이 원하는 공예품의 제작과 생활에 유익한 공예품의 제시로 새로운 생활문화를 사회에 형성해주는 것이 바람직한 자세라 여기며 아름다운 실용기가 우리생활에 널리 사용되며 다양한 생활문화의 시도가 도자를 통해 형성되는데 조금이나마 본 연구가 도움이 되기를 바란다.;With its unlimited meaning, Nature has been the source of artistic inspiration and object of observation and expression of artists. Through artists' emotions and inner world, Nature is conveyed in the form of formative arts. Among objects in Nature, flowers were chosen as the study material since they possess various expressions such as liveliness, abundance, and luxuriousness in Korea's ceramic cultural inheritance and in human's daily life. It has also given unlimited inspiration to modem ceramic artists through various types of forms. With flowers as subject matter, this paper aimed to study design of bowl with lid, which is a combination of practicality and aesthetic appreciation. By subjectively interpreting and applying the liveliness and beauty from flowers, this study sought to research on designs of bowl with lid manifested in daily life. To check the theoretical background for the design research, this paper studied applied fine arts, which show beauty vis--vis function in daily life. The features and types of flower are manifested in our traditional culture. Likewise, this study tried to determine the aesthetic views of ceramic artists toward flowers. Towards this end, this study divided the history of Korea's ceramic culture into several periods to study the relationship between flowers and ceramics and OUT daily life. Studying the concept of Bowl with lid. This study also collected various forms of Bowl with lid study cases and used them as study materials. While studying design, the author focused on the expression of the liveliness of flowers. During the production process, the author did repeated shaping by manufacturing slip injection gypsums. Silk white clay was used as clay to achieve whiteness and produce pigments. Translucent glaze was used in all ten works. For work no. 1, trial oil was used in the interior where the articles are contained to express effectively the texture of the surface. All ten works adopted the soaked trial oil method. The 1st firing was done for 9 hours under a maximum temperature of 900℃ in the 0.3㎥ gas kiln, while the 2nd firing was done for 12 hours under a maximum temperature of 1250℃ through reduction firing. In particular, the 2nd firing of work nos. 4, 7, and 8 was done for 10 hours under a maximum temperature of 1250℃ in a 0.14㎥ electric kiln through oxidation firing. Through this study, several conclusions were drawn. In design of bowl with lid combining practicality and appreciation using the shape of flowers, flowers as subject material are very good media for conveying and expressing the beauty of applied fine arts in daily life. Likewise, this study enhanced the understanding of traditional ceramics using flowers by reexamining the aesthetic aspects of excellent works by our ancestors. Finally, Bowl with lid can provide quick access to real beauty only when it is connected not only to practical use but also to beauty itself. Applied fine arts are manifested in daily life, mixing with beauty. Artists specializing in applied fine arts should widen their understanding and view of culture and living things, as well as adapt themselves to the new culture actively. They can produce and present useful works that are popular among peopleand consequently contribute to the growth of living culture.
