바이오모픽(Biomorphic) 이미지를 응용한 직조디자인 연구

Abstract

자연은 인간을 포함한 생명체의 삶을 이어주는 근원이며 끊임없는 생성과 소멸을 거듭하며 이어지는 생명의 원천이다. 생명체는 자연의 질서 속에서 상호 유기적 관계로 존재하며 역동적이며 유동적 형태를 지닌다. 자연과 불가분의 관계를 가지고 있는 인간은 자연에서 미적 체험을 하게 되며 그것을 예술적 차원으로 표현하게 된다. 주어진 환경 속에서 인간은 자연을 직․간접적으로 경험하게 된다. 이렇듯 자연에서 비롯된 경험은 본인에게 있어서도 예술적 근원을 이루며 미적 표현 욕구의 강한 원동력이 된다. 바이오모픽(Biomorphic)은 20세기이후 새로운 기술적 진보로 물리적인 환경이 확장됨으로써 우리의 시각 환경을 바꿔 놓는데서 시작된다. 과학기술의 발전에 의한 비가시적 세계의 탐색은 내면과 외면의 물리적 한계를 붕괴시키게 한다. 비가시적인 영역에 있던 생물이나 생명현상의 구조, 과정에 대한 새로운 시각 경험은 예술가들의 상상력을 자연 속의 근원적인 생명체로 끌어들임으로써 새로운 유기체적인 생물형태를 창조할 수 있는 가능성을 열어주게 된다. 이러한 시대적 분위기 속에서 생명론은 각광받기 시작하였으며, 자연과 예술의 관계는 예술을 하나의 생명체로 인식하게 만듦으로써, 예술가들에게 자연의 모방이 아닌 생명현상의 은유를 통해 자연을 표현할 수 있다는 의식을 불어넣게 된다. 본 연구자의 작품에서는 바이오모픽 아트(Biomorphic Art)의 개념을 근거로 하여 생명체의 생식과정을 통한 생명의 움직임과 서로의 관계 속에서 이루어지는 모습을 통해서 삶의 의미를 표현하고자 하였다. 따라서, 본 연구자는 육안으로 쉽게 볼 수 없는 동․식물의 비가시세계의 세포 속에서 나타나는 새로운 조형성을 형상화하고, 자연의 유기적인 생명감을 표현하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 유기적 아름다움과 생명의 신비를 재발견하고, 세포의 여러 형태를 관찰, 분석하여 미적 표현과 시각적 효과를 응용해 직물로 표현하고자 하였다. 첫째, 바이오모픽의 개념과 형성배경을 설명한 후 바이오모픽을 통한 유기적인 생명체의 표현에 대해 연구하였다. 둘째, 바이오모픽 아트에 관하여 고찰하고, 자연이나 생물의 유기체에서 생물형태를 유추해내는 작가들의 작품세계를 연구하였다. 셋째, 비가시세계인 세포의 기능이나 소속된 조직에 따라 여러 모양으로 나타나는 것의 특징적 형태를 선택하여 생성, 분열, 성장하는 세포의 느낌을 표현해 선의 변화와 형태에 따라 자유로우면서도 질서 있고, 율동적인 공간감을 부여하여 세포의 생명력과 부드러움, 역동적인 운동감을 표현하였다. 넷째, 투명섬유를 이용한 투명성 표현에 관하여 살펴보고, 직조 표현에 의한 이중직과 인레이 기법에 대하여 조사하였고, 표현방법에서는 모노필라멘트사와 마사를 주재료로 이중직, 인레이 기법을 사용하여 작품 총 16점을 제작하였다. 본 연구는 현대적 감각에 부합할 수 있는 디자인, 모티프의 형태와 질감, 표현기법적인 면에서 서로 조화를 이룰 수 있는 직조디자인의 가능성을 개발하고자 하였다.;Nature is the origin and the source of life of all creatures including human that repeats creation and extinction over and over again. Creature exists in mutually organic relationship based on the order of the nature and is in active and flexible shape. Human beings who have inseparable relation with nature go through aesthetic experience in nature and express that in artistic way. Under the given circumstance, human beings directly or indirectly express nature. This experience came from the nature becomes the root of art and strong trigger on the demand for aesthetic expression. Biormorphic shape starts from change of visual environment caused by expansion of physical circumstance since technical advance in 20th century. Search for the invisible world based on development of scientific technology collapses physical limitation between inside and outside. New visual experience about creature and structure of natural phenomenon in invisible area are enables artists to have an opportunity to create new organic creature by involving artists' imagination in original life in nature. Under the circumstance, life theory has been highlighted and changed artists' view. Artists started to consider nature and art as a united organism and recognize that they can express nature through metaphor of life phenomenon rather than imitation of nature. The researcher is sent meaning of life through movement of creature in reproduction process and each other's relationship based on Biomorphic Art. In addition, there searcher tries to express organic life of nature and formatively present motive of new creature in invisible world that is unable to see with physical view of naked eyes. Furthermore, the study is to rediscovery organic beauty and mystery of life and to formatively present them in textile though artistic expression and visual effect by observing and analyzing cells in various shapes. First, after explain the definition of biomorphic shape and how it is formed, research organic life image through Biomorphic shape. Second, research Biomorphic Art and review work of artists who express biomorphic shape from nature or living organic body. Third, presents cell that is created, divided and growing by selecting characteristics of function or organization of invisible cell. Forth, we researched for transparency expression using a transparency fiber and checked up double weaves and inlay weave by weaving expression. Also, we created works, which is total 16, using a mono- filament string and a hemp string for a expression method. This research tries to develop various possibility of textile design that could be harmonized in terms of design that meets modern sense, texture and shape of motive and expression technique.
