생태환경적 관점에 의한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

Costume can be said as the style of living that leads to comprehensively express and deliver an aspect of culture and environment of human beings and shows individual autonomy in the trends of times and rapid change of fashion. Besides, as a product of history that penetrating time and space, the field of culture and arts is developing critical and progressive theories and experiments while interchanging with other fields on the basis of view on ethics and ideas. Human-based custom and ethics in human history maintain philosophic thoughts and an era of science through knowledge accordingly accumulated, and play a role as a standard of judgment and settlement of all problems. This human-based ethics that were connected with devastation of nature due to rapid industrialization and thus recognized to be threatening factor to human lives, have come to be regarded as a subject to be solved from a point of view different from the existing thoughts. Code of ethics from tradition and custom in the history of design was maintained from a human-based viewpoint contrary to the ecological environment, and the environmental-friendly concept and use of natural materials that are actively promoted in general fields of design in these days contain the ecological environment-based spirit of the times which reflects modem convenience and science at the climax of industrialization and makes an alternative plan. As the paradigm shift that the whole processes of design have influence on the lives and protection of human beings and ecological environment has a thread of connection with ecological environmental-based design ethics, in my judgement, fashion design as a genre that belongs to the artistic characteristics and a field of culture, needs to consider design ethics from the viewpoint of ecological environmental ethics, on the basis of the relationship between complexity of society/culture and fashion design. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to present design ethics through the ethic concept and viewpoint of ecological environment and the ecological & environmental trends of general design, and to investigate aesthetic value of ecological & environmental design based on the design ethics. Besides, I tried to deliver the message about the necessity of environmental-friendly design using the more positive methods after applying barley straw that has efficient characteristics as decorative materials. The objectives that I set myself was to discover the worth of recycling the ecological & environmental materials and to expand the territory of development of natural materials, by experimenting the possibility of barley straw, a natural object as the materials of costumes through the manufacture of the works. As for the theoretical background of this, I considered the concept of human-based ethics and ecological and environmental ethics, and analyzed the ecological & environmental trends throughout the general design and the trends of the field of fashion design, and finally examined the general straw art that was recycled from an ecological & environmental point of view. As for the studies of works, I induced harmony with practical costumes, the products of artificial acts of human beings and natural objects, on the basis of design from the development of barley straw. The development of handicraft materials is caused by 'distinction of tastes' of moderners who seek for creative formal-beauty and individuality as being seen from the trends of modern costumes. Total eight works were made with the above contents and were classified into one-piece dress, suit and coat. The scope of using barley straw was limited to the part not restricted in activities however the whole straw was sometimes used according to the design. As for the application methods and techniques, knitting , weaving and patchwork etc. were used besides the technique applying traditional 'Artdeco-dry tech' as beads. Dyeing techniques were used for the colors of barley straws and natural colors of barley straw were used as it was according to the patterns. Materials were restricted to Embossed silk and natural tone of the analysis of 2003 F/W color trends were used for the colors. and characteristics of members of nature were schematized and used for the patterns. The results of this study are as followings; First, after considering the ecological trends of general design from the ethical concept and point of view of ecological environment, I could understand the standpoint of ecological environmental design ethics in fashion design and could find the aesthetic value in conditions of the times accordingly. Secondly, I found that the studies through development barley straw materials could be expressed with 'Eco-look' of ecological & aesthetic value in harmony with practical costumes that are the products of natural objects and artificial acts of human beings. Besides, the geometric patterns using members of the nature was effective in expressing modern images. Thirdly, as results of the manufacture of products, I could find out that nonpracticalities including crack, moisture absorption and benting etc. and the fragility of transformation could be improved and the materials become solid in case of making barley straws in the form of beads. Fourthly, the problems in sewing could be solved by moisturizing the barley straws and those of management after drying could be complemented according to the application unit, form or size of barley straws. Fifthly, under the discovery of unique characteristics of materials I could see aesthetic value as materials of decorative design and with the above results, I could understand the possibility of enlarged territory of natural material development, as well as find the worth of recycling ecological environmental materials. Finally, although the design trends of 'ecological & environmental viewpoint' seen from the general trends of design fields, most of the trends barely express simple images and I could grasp that questions are insufficiently suggested due to lack of understanding of environment. I think alternatives of design ethics about the shift of the center of ethic value in an aspect of problem-solving should be urgently made with lack of considering of ethical viewpoints. Therefore, I hope this study will be some help to the studies on design from a ecological ethics-based viewpoint in the fashion design fields, and expect continuous development of natural materials based on the ecological & environmental point of view.;복식은 인류의 문화와 자연환경의 양상을 포괄적으로 표현하고 전달하는데 선도적인 역할을 하며 시대적 상황과 급속한 유행의 변화 속에서 독자적인 자율성을 나타내는 생활양식이라 할 수 있다. 또한 역사의 산물이며 시간과 공간을 관통하는 문화 예술분야들은 윤리와 사상의 관점을 기반으로 타 영역과의 교류를 통해 비판적이고 진취적인 이론과 실험을 전개하고 있다. 인류 역사의 인간중심적 관습과 윤리는 철학적 사고와 그에 따른 지식 축적에 의해 과학의 시대를 지탱하고 있으며 모든 문제의 판단과 해결의 기준으로 역할을 하고 있는데 이러한 인간 중심적 윤리관은 급격한 산업화로 인해 자연의 황폐화로 이어졌고 인간의 삶에도 위협적인 요인으로 인식되어 기존의 사고와는 다른 관점에서 해결해야 할 과제로 떠올랐다. 디자인의 역사에서도 전통과 관습의 윤리적 규범들은 생태환경에 反한 인간 중심적 관점에서 지속되어 왔으며 근래에 전반적인 디자인 분야에서 활발히 전개되고 있는 친환경적 개념과 자연물 소재의 사용은, 산업화의 절정단계에서 문명과 과학의 利器를 반성하고 그 대안을 찾는 생태환경 중심적 시대정신을 내포하고 있다. 디자인 전 과정이 인간과 생태환경의 삶과 보존에 영향을 미친다는 인식의 전환은 생태환경 중심적 디자인 윤리관과 일맥상통 한다고 할 수 있는데 예술적 특수성에 속한 장르이며 문화의 한 영역인 의상디자인 분야에서도 사회, 문화의 복합적 현상과 의상 디자인과의 연관성을 바탕으로 생태환경적 윤리의 관점에 근거한 디자인 윤리의 제고가 필요하다고 판단되어진다. 따라서 본 연구는 생태환경의 윤리적 개념 및 관점과 디자인 전반의 생태 환경적 경향을 통해 디자인 윤리를 제시하고 이에 근거한 생태환경적 디자인의 미적가치를 탐구 하고자 한다. 또한 장식적 소재로서 효과적인 특성을 가진 보릿대를 실용의상에 적용하여 친환경적 디자인의 필요성에 대한 메시지를 보다 적극적인 방법으로 전달하고자 하였으며 작품 제작을 통해 자연물인 보릿대의 의상소재로서의 가능성을 실험하여 생태 환경적 소재의 재활용 가치 발견 및 자연물 소재개발의 영역 확대를 목적으로 한다. 이에 이론적 배경으로 인간중심적 윤리와 생태환경 중심적 윤리의 개념을 고찰하고 디자인 전반에 걸친 생태 환경적 경향과 의상 디자인 분야의 경향을 분석하였으며 생태환경적 관점에 의해 재활용된 짚풀 공예의 전반에 대해 살펴보았다. 그에 따른 작품 연구로 보릿대의 소재개발에 의한 디자인을 중심으로 자연물과 인간의 인위적 행위의 산물인 실용의상과의 조화를 유도하였는데 현대 복식의 경향에서도 보여지듯이 수공예적인 소재개발은 독창적인 조형미와 개성을 추구하는 현대인들의 '취향의 차별화'에 기인한 것이다. 작품은 위와 같은 내용을 통해 총 8벌을 제작 하였으며 원피스 드레스, 수트, 코트로 분류하였다. 보릿대의 사용범위는 활동에 제약을 받지 않는 부분으로 한정하고 디자인에 따라 전체적으로 사용하기도 하였으며 적용 방법 및 기법은 전통적인 '고장기법(藁裝技法)'을 응용해 비즈로 활용하는 기법이외에 니팅, 직조, 패치워크 등을 활용하였다. 보릿대의 색상은 염색 기법을 이용하고 문양에 따라 보릿대 자체의 자연색을 그대로 사용하였다. 소재는 수직 실크로 제한하였고 색채는 2003 F/W 컬러 트랜드 분석에 나타난 내츄럴 톤을 사용하였으며 문양은 자연의 구성원이 갖는 특징을 도식화하여 이용하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫 째, 생태환경의 윤리적 개념과 관점에 의해 디자인 전반의 생태학적 경향을 고찰한 결과 의상디자인에 있어 생태환경적 디자인 윤리의 관점을 파악 할 수 있었으며 그에 따른 시대 상황의 미적가치를 발견할 수 있었다. 둘 째, 보릿대의 소재개발을 통한 연구는 자연물과 인간의 인위적 행위의 산물인 실용 의상과의 조화를 통해 생태미학적 가치의 'Eco-look'으로 표현되어질 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 자연의 구성원을 응용한 기하학적 문양은 현대적 이미지를 표현하는데 효과적으로 나타났다. 셋 째, 작품 제작에 대한 결과로 보릿대의 소재개발 중 관찰된 균열, 흡습, 휨 등의 비실용적 문제는 보릿대를 비즈 형태로 제작할 경우 변형의 취약점이 개선되어 견고해짐을 발견할 수 있었다. 넷 째, 재봉에서의 문제점은 보릿대에 수분을 보충해 줌으로써 해결할 수 있었고 건조 후 관리의 문제는 보릿대의 적용단위나 형태, 크기에 따라 보완할 수 있었다. 다섯 째, 보릿대 고유의 표면광택에 의한 독특한 재질감의 발견으로 장식적 의상 소재로서의 미적 가치를 확인 할 수 있었으며, 위와 같은 결과를 통해 생태환경적 소재의 재활용적 가치의 발견 및 자연물 소재개발의 영역확대에 대한 가능성을 인식할 수 있었다. 끝으로 디자인 분야의 전반적 경향에서 보여지는 '생태환경적 관점'의 디자인 경향은 의상 분야에서도 활발히 이루어지고 있으나 단순한 이미지 표현에 그치는 경우가 대부분이며 환경에 대한 인식의 부족으로 윤리적 문제 제기가 미흡함을 파악할 수 있었다. 이는 윤리적 관점에 대한 고찰의 결여로 문제의 해결 차원에서 윤리적 가치의 중심 이동에 관한 디자인 윤리의 대안이 시급하다고 판단된다. 따라서 본 연구가 의상 디자인 분야의 생태 윤리 중심적 관점을 통한 디자인 연구에 보탬이 되기를 바라며 생태환경적 관점을 기반으로 한 자연물 소재의 지속적인 개발이 이루어지기를 기대한다.
