형과 질감에의 납방염 연구

Abstract

예술은 대상을 그대로 복사하는 재현이 아니라 주관에 의해 다시 구성하는 표현으로 인간의 내면세계를 거친 또 하나의 창조된 세계라 할 수 있다. 현대 예술의 경향은 그 개념이나 조형성이 확산, 다변화되면서 종래의 형식에서 벗어나 주관적 이론, 자유로운 재료 및 방법 등을 근거로 다양한 표현양식이 추구되고 있다. 이러한 경향은 조형예술의 한 분야인 염색공예에도 영향을 주어 과거 공예의 기능주의적인 전통에서 벗어나 새로운 조형세계의 표현에 중점을 두는 경향이 늘고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 작품속에 자신의 내면세계 표현이라는 문제에 관심을 갖고, 새로운 자기창조로서 염색에 의한 추상적 표현을 위해 선, 형, 질감, 색 등의 순수한 조형요소로 화면을 구성하여 납방염 기법으로 염색의 독자적인 표현영역을 모색하는데 연구목적을 둔다. 이론적 배경으로 납방염의 역사와 기법에 대해 알아보고, 납방염의 현대적 의미의 조형성에 대해 탐구해 보았다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 염색작품 6점을 제작하여 분석해본 결론을 요약하면 다음과 갈다. 첫째, 염색 공예의 고유 기법 중 납방염 기법은 납의 방염력을 이용한 기법으로 미묘한 효과와 다양한 변화를 표현할 수 있으며, 어느 재료보다도 자유롭고 독창적인 표현가능성을 지니고 있어서 본 연구자가 현대적 의미의 납방염의 조형성 개발을 모색하는 좋은 계기가 되었다. 둘째, 순수 조형요소인 선, 형, 질감, 색채로 구성된 화면은 그 자체에서 내부적으로 추상적 형식의 미를 형성해 나가며 본 연구자의 내면세계에 존재하는 미적 충동을 표현할 수 있는 적절한 형성요소였다고 생각된다. 세째, 납방염기법에 의한 질감표현은 시각적 운동감을 유도하여 자유로우면서 질서와 밀도가 있는 공간형성에 효과적이었고 내면세계를 상징적으로 암시하는 생동적이고 개성적인 표현방법이었다고 볼 수 있다. 이와같은 결론을 토대로 염색공예의 가능성 및 납방염 기법에 대한 계속적인 연구로 좀 더 깊이 있고 예술성 있는 염색작품 창작을 위해 이론과 표현방법의 일치를 지향하고, 실제 화면에서 생긴 조형상의 문제, 안정되고 균형있는 화면의 배치문제, 색채에 대한 문제 등을 계속 제작 연구함으로써 납방염의 독자적인 표현영역의 확대를 위하여 노력할 것이다.;Art is imaginative creation which reflects the subjective inner world of an artist, not just a representation of the given objects. In contemporary art, the trend demonstrates diversification in concepts and formativity, various expression methods have been introduced apart from traditional methods allowing adoptation of subjective theory and usage of new materials. The new trend has influenced on dyeing craft also. It emphasizes on expression of formativity distinguished from traditional method which lay importance on functionality. This study focuses on the expression of inner world on works. The main purpose of this thesis is to find the unique way of expressing batik method by line, shape, texture and color in creative dyeing crafts. In doing so, theoretical basis of history and technical method of batik were thorougly studied, and formativity of batik in contemporary sense was also investigated. Under the theoretical background, 6 pieces were made and analogical inferences are as follows: First, batik method which is one of unique of dyeing crafts enjoys various peculiarity created through using resistance of wax. It contains most natural and unique formativity encouraging artist to improve her sense of formativity in contemporary sense. Second, line.shape, texture and colar which consist the basic form of the work create abstract beauty itself, expressing aesthetic conscionsness of the worker. Third, expressing texture through batik guarantees visual mobility and it gives special order in the work. It is also vivid and authentic method in expressing inner world symbolically. On the basis of the results, studies concerning the matters should be made to improve method in expressing batik as well as the expressive possibility. Agreement between theory and actual expression, actual problems occurred on the scene, existence of shape, problems of form, balanced arrangement, efforts for access to colorization should be examined and studied as to develop unique batik expressions.
