1910年代 私學의 民族敎育에 關한 硏究

Abstract

본고는 1910년대 私立學校들이 실시한 民族敎育의 實態와 그 歷史的 성격을 實證的으로 論證코자 試圖하였다. 먼저 제1장 序論에서는 硏究目的과 硏究範圍 및 方法을 다루면서 課題意識을 밝히고, 導入部인 제2장 時代的 背景에서는 1910年 以前 統監府 權力의 敎育彈壓과 對應, 그리고 1910년대 總督府 權力의 植民地 敎育과 그에 對應하여 나타난 民族敎育에 관해서 살펴보았다. 제3장에서는 私學의 敎育實態를 밝히고자 하였다. 먼저, 私學의 理念을 살피고, 다음으로 日帝에 의하여 강요된 敎科課程 및 학교현장에서 敎授된 敎育內容의 實際를 考察하였다. 제4장에서는 1910년대, 私學의 活動과 특히 3.1運動期 私學 學生들의 活動狀況과 그 歷史的 位置와 性格을 부각시키고자 하였다. 따라서 중앙 및 지방의 私學의 活動과 3.1運動과의 관계 및 학생들의 역할을 찾아봄으로써 그것이 갖는 民族敎育의 性格을 찾아보려는 것이다. 結論的으로 본고의 硏究를 통해서 다음과 같은 結論을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 1910년대 私學은 民族意識을 고취하는 敎育內容을 가지고 많은 實踐的 役軍을 育成하였다는 면에서 우리나라 民族運動史 및 民族敎育史에 있어서 확고한 位置를 차지하고 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 韓末愛國啓蒙期 및 1910년대 民族敎育의 한 軸을 이루고 있었던 私立學校에 日帝의 育敎彈壓이 집중적으로 가해져 그 活動이 규제를 받게 되자 이에 대한 반발로 학생들의 반일 조직체가 결성되고 마침내 이와 關聯하여 3.1運動期 私學이 抗日獨立運動의 前偉的인 役割을 담당하게된 것임을 알 수 있었다. 세째, 3.1運動 이후 日帝의 欺滿的인 懷柔政策으로 나타난1920년대 文化政治下에서 民族運動의 일환으로서의 學生運動이 보다 組織的으로 展開되어 나갔고, 이로부터 그 진폭을 더욱 확대시켜 나갈 수 있었던 學生運動이 民族運動의 先導的인 役割을 담당하게 되는 것이다. 바로 이러한 學生運動의 기반이 韓末 및 1910年代 日帝의 民族敎育彈壓의 어려운 난관 속에서 展開되어진 私學을 통한 民族敎育이었고 이것은 韓末 愛國啓蒙運動期의 敎育救國運動과 1920년대의 民族運動을 잇는 橋梁的인 役割을 담당해 왔었음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 사실에 비추어 볼 때 挫折의 經驗까지 살리면서 거듭해 온 私學의 歷史的 位置와 性格이 돋보인다고 하겠다.;In this paper, an authentic verification was tried concerning the reality and historical characteristics of national education which had been practiced at private schools in the 1910's. At preface, Chapter 1, the object, range and scheme of this research are explained to emphasize the main topic. At introduction, Chapter 2 historical background, this paper surveyed the correspondence to Japanese oppression of education after 1910 and national education which was arisen from opposition movement to Japanese Residency-General's colony education. The realities of private school education was examined at Chapter 3. First, the ideology of private school was considered and then curriculum and contents of education which was forces to taught at school by Japanese. Chapter 4 is to emphasize on the activity of private school during 1910's, expecially on student's activity during the Movement. Accordingly it is to find out the characteristics of national education by discovering the relationship between the 1919 Movement and activities of private schools which were located at the center and the provinces. Following conclusions are extracted from this paper. First, we know the fact that the private school had cultivated many men of action with curricula which encourage nationalism, and occupied strong position in modern history. Second, when Japanese austerity polity of education concentrated on private school which consisted an axis for national education at 1910's, anti Japanese student union was organized to confront such treat. Finally student had taken an avant-garde role for anti Japanese independence movement. Third, at 1920s, under Japanese cultural education as a policy for appeasement, as a part of national movement, student movement had been developed more systematically and took the leading role in national movement. This foundation for student movement was national education through private school, and this became a bridge which linked to national movement at 1920s. From these points of view, the historical meaning and highlight of private school which had been developed with unconquerable spirit, has had a great importance.
