읽기장애아의 읽기해독에 있어서 시각적 처리와 음운적 처리에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 읽기 초기 단계에 중요한 읽기해독에 있어서 읽기장애아의 어려움이 초기 시각적 처리과정에 기인하는지 혹은 언어의 역기능으로서 음운적 처리과정에 기인하는지를 밝히고자 하며, 나아가 읽기장애아를 위한 교육 프로그램의 수립에 실증적 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구의 문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 정상아와 읽기장애아간에는 언어적·비언어적 자극의 초기 시각적 처리과정의 수행에 어떤 차이가 있는가? 2. 정상아와 읽기장애아간에는 언어적 자극의 음운적 처리과정의 수행에 어떤 차이가 있는가? 이문제를 해결하기 위하여 도형과 의사어를 복사 및 낭독하도록 하였다. 실험대상은 서울시 1개 공립국민학교 3학년 아동 725명을 대상으로 읽기성취검사를 실시하여 선정한 IQ 100 이상의 아동들로서 읽기장애아와 정상아 각 20명씩 모두 40명이었다. 통계적인 방법은 t검증과 ω^(2)이었고, 이 검증에 의하여 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 1. 정상아와 읽기장애아간에는 비언어적 자극인 도형의 초기 시각처리적 과정의 수행에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 2. 정상아와 읽기장애아간에는 언어적 자극인 의사어의 초기 시각처리적 과정의 수행에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 3. 정상아와 읽기장애아간에는 언어적 자극인 의사어의 음운적 처리과정의 수행에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 읽기장애아가 정상아에 비해 의사어의 음운적 처리과정의 수행이 유의하게 낮았다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과를 종합하여 보면, 읽기해독에 있어서 읽기장애아의 어려움은 초기 시각적 처리과정에 있는 것이 아니라 음운적 처리과정에 있음이 밝혀졌으며, 이는 읽기장애아를 위한 교육에 음운적 처리과정의 중재를 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.;The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether specific reading disability is caused by deficit in early visual process or phonological process at the level of decoding, and further to offer information for the planning of a training program for specific reading disabilities. The research questions of the study were: 1. Is there any difference in early visual processing of nonverbal and verbal stimuli between specific reading disabilities and normal readers? 2. Is there any difference in phonological processing of verbal stimuli between specific reading disabilities and normal readers? This study used geometric designs and pseudowords, and asked to reproduce them both orally and graphically. Subjects were 20 normal readers and 20 specific reading disabilities with average intelligence in third grade of on elementary school. For statistical analysis of the data, t-test and w were used. The results were as follows; 1. There was no significant difference between specific reading disabilities and normal readers in early visual processing performance of geometric designs. 2. There was no significant difference between specific reading disabilities and normal readers in early visual processing performance of pseudowords. 3. There was significant difference between specific reading disabilities and normal readers in phonological processing performance of pseudowords. The performance of spceific reading disabilities was inferior t o normal readers in phonological processing of pseudowords. In conclusion, specific reading disability is not associated with a deficit in early visual processing but in phonological processing. Thus, the results of this study can suggest the necessity of phonological processing training for program of specific reading disabilities.
