Multiple key approach를 통한 피아노 학습의 기초교본 연구

Abstract

This study was to examine and introduce the recent trends of piano teaching methods through Multiple-key Approach which is commonly used in the U.S.A. for the beginning piano students. The contents of Multiple-key Approach method books were studied for its effectiveness for the children of 6 through 11 years old. Three method series from the Multiple-key Approach (Robert Pace's James Bastien's, W.A. Palmer's) were used as texts for this thesis. Following procedures were undertaken to find out better method for the contemporary young pianists: First, the pianist's basic technique and musicianship were reviewed through the articles from the professional journals and the literatures. Second, The principles and the teaching method of the Multiple-key Approach were introduced. Third, The contents of the Multiple-key Approach series books were studied and examined. The writer found out the basic difference between Middle C and Multiple-key that the former is to introducing one factor of music at one time and gradually develop to the whole concepts of music while, the latter means to introduce the whole concepts at once and then to the details of each elements of music. Generally speaking, the Middle C method deals mainly with the white keys such as C, F, G majors on the keyboard but Multiple-key method introduces the whole black and white keys from the first lesson of the study. In addition to do that, Multiple-key Approach includes improvisation and other creative activities which will enhance the children's imagination and creative thinking. In this way, the young pianists could be able to experience the various techniques and musicianship on the keyboard within a short period of time. The Multiple-key Approach is based on the Comprehensive Musicianship, a new trend of contemporary music education which combines theory, history, and creativity with performance. It leads to the conclusion that the Multiple-key Approach is more conceptual, realistic and effective method to almost every beginning pianists. It also is hoped that this approach would be accepted and spread all over Korea so that students could have diverse experiences in piano within a short period of time;본 연구는 현재 미국을 비롯한 세계 각국에서 초보단계의 피아니스트들을 가르치는데 널리 사용되고 있는 여러 조성의 접근법(Multiple Key Approach)을 통한 새로운 교수법을 고찰하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해서 만6세∼11세의 초보 어린이에게 효율적으로 쓰일 수 있는 여러 조성 접근법에 의한 교본을 분석 연구하였다. 이 논문을 위하여 사용된 교본은 여러 조성 접근법으로 쓰여진 3종류의 교본(Robert Pace's, James Bastien's, W.A. Palmer's)이며 연구방법으로는 악보에 의한 분석 연구와 문헌 연구를 하였다. 본 논문에서 연구하고자 하는 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문헌을 통한 피아니스트들의 기본적인 음악성과 기교에 대한 연구 둘째, 여러 조성 접근법의 원리 및 전체적인 교수 내용의 소개 세째, 여러 조성 접근법에 의한 교본 내용의 연구 이와 같은 내용을 연구한 결과 여러 조성의 접근법은 음악의 전체적인 개념을 제시한 후 부분으로 분류하여 가르침으로써 전체의 개념을 완성하는데 근본 원리를 두고 있다는 것을 발견했다. 일반적으로 여러 조성 접근법의 교본에서는 피아노 학습의 초기 단계에서부터 흰 건반과 검은 건반을 모두 포함하는 전 조성을 소개하며 모든 조로 이조도 가능하다. 이 밖에도 여러 조성 접근법에는 즉흥연주와 창작에 관한 내용이 포함되어 있어서 어린이의 상상력과 창조력을 기르는 데 도움을 준다. 이와 같은 교수법에서는 단시일 내에 음악성과 기교에 대한 다양한 경험을 갖게 되므로 초보 피아니스트들에게 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다. 이상과 같은 연구결과로 볼 때 여러 조성의 접근법에 의한 교본은 광범위한 음악교육, 즉 음악이론, 역사, 창작, 연주, 활동적인 면을 모두 포함하고 있어서 포괄적인 음악성(Comprehensive Musicianship)을 개발하려는 현대 음악교육의 동향과 일치한다. 그러므로 종래의 교본보다는 여러 조성 접근법의 교본이 피아노 학습의 기초 교본으로서 더 합리적이고 효율적이라는 결론을 내릴 수 있다. 이와 아울러 필자는 우리나라에서도 J. Bastien의 교본과 같은 새로운 여러조성 교수법의 교본이 널리 보급되기를 기대한다.
