남북한 미술교육 통합준비를 위한 연구

Abstract

We are living in an era beyond the Cold War confrontation. The relationship between North and South Korea is rapidly changing, and furthermore, the historical 6.19 inter-Korean summit was held. Therefore, North Korea is no longer an object to keep an eye on but the same people and same community to cooperate with for unification. Thus, recognizing the need for art education preparing for unification, I compared and analyzed the North and South art education, and textbooks of 3rd and 4th grade of both North and South Korea elementary school. Speaking of the art textbooks, those in South Korea were made of art paper and their reference works were shown in color, while those in North Korea were made of rough paper for newspaper and their reference works were shown in cartoon illustrations. In terms of the composition of educational content, the textbooks from South Korea were characterized by their organic relationship between aesthetic experiences and expression & appreciation in a learning objective. In addition, the names of units, learning objectives, the activities necessary for class and summary of learning activities were suggested. Compared to this, art education in North Korea was largely divided into drawing and construction and the subject matters for specific works were suggested mostly. Another important characteristics of art education in North Korea was that the ideology found in the objectives of North Korean education was reflected in the expression themes and works of drawing & construction textbooks. In terms of used materials, various materials have been used and encouraged to do so in South Korea, while the use of materials has been very limited and the existing materials have been used repeatedly in North Korea. Through the analysis of South and North Korean art textbooks, the following educational aspects on art could be found. In South Korea, students have been educated in a way that they could develop an aesthetic insight through the wide range of aesthetic experiences and ability to embody inner world visually and their creativity with their original thought. In contrast, in North Korea, students have been encouraged to develop an aesthetic insight based on ideology and realism, an ability to express their expression by reproducing things and events in a realistic manner and creativity based on the idea that something new would be deriving from the reality. Analyzing the art textbooks of North and South Korea, we could see the difference of art education between North and South Korea in terms of the systems, contents, and material, tools for expression and aspect of Art Education purpose. However, now that we are preparing the unification between the two parts, we should see these differences in an objective view and find the common elements to pursue together. At first, we should have Korean students experience the unique art cultures of North Korea and provide chances to see their life and art in North Korea. And then we will be able to understand them objectively without any sense of difference or prejudice. Besides, we should try to restore national homogeneity and form community spirit of Korean people who have been living with the same culture and history for such a long time by considering the traditional culture of North Korea. To specifically prepare for the era of unified Korea, we scholars involved in art subject need to pay attention to and study the diversified areas of art subject in terms of unified education, and this has to be done not by just one side but by both North and South Korea.;우리 민족은 50여년 동안 남북으로 갈라져 분단된 채 서로 이질적인 이념과 체제를 고수하여 왔다. 그러나 21세기를 맞이하여 세계 정세의 변화의 흐름과 함께 남북관계에 있어서도 급속한 변화들이 일어나고 있고 그러한 변화는 역사적인 6.19 남북 정상회담을 통해 더욱 가속화되고 있다. 이 시점에 서있는 우리 세대에게 있어서 북한은 더 이상 경계해야 할 대상이 아닌 함께 통일을 바라보며 준비해 나가야 할 한민족, 한공동체로 다가오고 있다. 우리는 언제 올지 모르는 통일을 위해서 각 분야에서의 통일 준비가 이루어져야 하며, 이에 교육에서도 통일 이후를 대비한 통일교육의 필요성과 함께 남북한 교육에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 통일 이후를 준비하기 위해서는 먼저 남북한의 교육에 대한 세분화되고 심층적인 연구가 필요하며 이를 통해 알 수 있는 남북한의 공통성과 이질성, 그리고 각각의 장단점을 파악하여 그것을 기초로 앞으로의 방향을 설정해 나가야 할 것이다. 이러한 필요성을 가지고 본 연구에서는 남한 초등학교의 3, 4학년 미술교과서와 북한 소학교의 3, 4학년 도화공작교과서를 비교 분석하여 미술과에서의 남북한 교육의 실태를 파악하여 보았다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 남북한 교육의 이념 및 교육과정에 대해 고찰해봄으로서 이러한 근거를 바탕으로 남북한의 미술교과서를 비교분석할 수 있었다. 비교 결과 외형체제에 있어서 남한의 미술교과서는 아트지로 이루어져 있고 참고작품도 모두 컬러로 제시되어 있는 반면 북한은 신문용 갱지로 이루어져 있으며 참고작품은 그림 삽화로 제시되고 있다. 교육내용 구성에 있어서 남한의 교과서는 한 학습 목표 안에 미적체험과 표현 감상의 영역이 유기적인 관계를 가지고 함께 이루어지도록 구성되어 있으며 단원명과 학습목표, 수업 전개에 필요한 활동, 학습활동의 정리, 평가항목 등이 제시되어 있다. 반면 북한은 크게 도화 공작으로 분리되어 있는데, 그 내용에 있어서 대부분 구체적인 작품의 제재가 제시되어 있고 학습목표 및 단원의 체계적인 설정은 되어 있지 않다. 이를 통해 북한은 그날에 제시된 수업제재를 사실적으로 모방하여 재현하는 것에 중점을 두고 수업이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 실생활에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 주제들과 함께 표현 방법을 구체적으로 제시하고 있으며 느낌이나 상상을 나타내는 제재는 거의 찾아볼 수 없다. 남한의 느낌과 상상, 그리고 자유로운 표현활동으로 구성된 교과서 내용과는 많은 차이가 있다 하겠다. 북한은 내용 구성에 있어서 또 하나의 큰 특징은 북한 교육의 목표에서도 볼 수 있었던 사상성이 도화 공작 교과서의 표현주제와 감상 작품에 나타난다는 것이다. 표현재료에 있어서 남한은 다양한 재료 사용을 시도하고 권장하고 있으나 북한은 남한에 비해 전체적으로 재료에 있어서 매우 제한적이고 기존재료의 반복적 사용으로 다양한 표현을 하기 어려움이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 남한과 북한의 교과서 분석을 통해 미술교육 목적 측면을 비교해보면, 남한은 폭넓은 미적체험을 통해 미적안목과 내면의 세계를 가시적인 형태로 표현하는 능력으로서의 조형능력, 독창적이고 확산적 사고로서의 창의성을 길러주는 교육을 하고 있는 것에 비해 북한은 교육 모든 영역이 주체사상을 바탕으로 하여 이루어짐으로서 사상성과 사실주의에 기초한 미에 대한 관점과 사실적으로 재현하는 기능으로서의 표현능력, 현실을 바탕으로 나오는 새 것이라는 입장에서의 창의성을 길러주는 미술교육이 이루어지고 있었다. 남북한 미술교과서 비교분석을 통해 외형체제, 내용구성, 표현재료와 미술교육 목적의 측면에서 확연하게 다른 미술교육이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 우리는 오랜 역사를 거쳐 함께 한문화를 가지고 살아온 한민족이며 교육에 있어서도 분명 한 민족으로서 함께 추구해 온, 그리고 추구해 갈 수 있는 공통적인 부분들이 존재한다. 통일을 준비하고 있는 우리는 남북한의 교육현실을 객관적으로 바라보고, 그 안에서 함께 추구해나갈 수 있는 공통적인 것들을 찾아나가야 할 것이다. 미술과에서는 앞으로 다가올 통일시대를 준비하기 위한 통일교육적 측면과 통일이후의 남북한 교육에 대한 다양하고 구체적인 미술과의 관심과 연구가 이루어져야 하며 남한만이 아니라 남북한이 함께 노력해나가야 할 것이다.
