조선 민화 나비를 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

오늘날 과학과 산업의 발달이 가속화 되고 전쟁과 테러의 위협속에 인간은 자연에 대한 회귀본능과 향수를 가지게 되어 자연물을 대상으로 한 예술작품과 디자인이 많이 나오기 시작했다. 또한 21세기 디자인은 그 나라의 문화적인 특수성에 바탕을 둔 독창성 있는 제품을 요구하고 있다. 그 예로 디자인 선진국이라고 할 수 있는 미국, 일본, 독일, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 스칸디나비아 반도 국가들의 제품들을 접할 때 우리는 그 시각적 표현이나 제품에서 쉽게 그 나라의 이미지를 발견할 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 시대적 흐름속에서 자연물의 하나인 나비를 소재로 하되, 그 범위를 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비로 제한하여 우리 문화만의 독창성을 의상디자인에 표현하고자 했다. 표현기법으로는 조선 민화 사실적 나비의 섬세한 선과 사실적 형태, 그리고 고유의 색을 가장 잘 표현하기 위해 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅을 사용했고 디자인의 다양성을 위해 프린팅 소재로 여러 가지 소재를 사용하였다. 이에 본 논문은 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비가 한국 고유의 문화적 가치를 지닌 모티브로 제시하여 의상디자인에 응용함으로써 세계 시장속에서 경쟁력 우위를 가지는 제품을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구는 이론적 배경 연구와 작품제작으로 이루어졌다. 이론적 배경 연구에서는 첫째, 나비를 상징적 특징, 생태적 특징으로 나누어 고찰한 후, 그 형태적 특징을 나비의 종류로 나누어서 분석하고 정리하였다. 둘째, 예술분야에 나타난 나비의 활용사례를 알아보기 위해 순수예술작품에서 나타난 나비와 디자인에서 나타난 나비로 나누어 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 특히 의상에서 응용된 사례들은 나비의 표현방법과 형태, 배치방법 등으로 나누어 분석하였다. 셋째, 작품제작을 위한 디자인 모티브의 이해를 위해 먼저 민화에 대해 간략하게 고찰하고 조선 민화 속 나비의 상징성과 그 조형성을 문헌과 사진자료를 통해 분석 연구 하였다. 작품제작에서는, 소재개발 과정을 위해 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅에 대해 알아보았으며, 앞의 이론적 배경을 통해 얻어진 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비를 모티브로 하는 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 원단을 개발하였다. 그리고 이 원단을 이용한 의상 8벌을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통한 결론는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조선 민화 나비의 조형성의 분석을 새롭게 시도한 결과, 사실적 나비와 해학적 나비로 나눌 수 있었다. 그리고 사실적 나비의 조형성은 섬세한 선, 사실적 형태, 오방색에 따른 정교하게 채색된 색 등이 중후하고 고급스런 디자인의 모티브로 응용할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 오래된 조선 민화 나비의 색채를 DTP를 이용하여 그대로 재현한 결과, 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비의 섬세함과 오래된 고풍미의 색감을 표현할 수 있었다. 또, 나비가 가진 블랙, 바이올렛, 브라운, 틸블루 등을 작품 디자인 계획 단계에서 서브컬러로 사용하여 작품을 다양화 시켰다. 셋째, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 소재의 색상으로 주로 쓰였던 백색에서 벗어나 무늬가 있거나 색감 있는 소재에 프린팅한 결과 일차원적인 프린팅 느낌이 아닌 깊고 풍부한 색감의 프린팅 소재를 얻을 수 있었다. 넷째, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅소재로서 트윌실크, 실크쉬폰에서부터 벨벳, 인조 스웨이드, 해도사, 공단 등의 각 질감이 다른 소재에 같은 색상의 조선 민화 나비를 DTP를 시도하였다. 그 결과 광택이 있는 매끈한 공단은 부드러우면서 화려한 이미지가, 무광택의 트윌실크는 차분하면서 고급스러운 이미지가, 해도사는 해도사가 가진 거친 표면과의 만남으로 오래된 벽화 느낌의 고풍스런 이미지가, 스웨이드는 매트하면서 부드러운 이미지가, 다른 길이로 샤링된 벨로아는 자체의 다른 결의 길이에 따라 여러 가지 색감이 나는 다양한 이미지가 창출되어 소재표현영역을 확대하였다. 다섯째, 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비를 공통된 모티브로 사용하더라도 반복 패턴화하여 사용하거나 각각의 옷의 패턴에 맞게 자유로이 나비를 재구성하여 작품에 독창성과 다양성을 줄 수 있었다. 본 연구는 세계의 보편성을 가지면서 우리 문화가 스며있는 조선 민화 속 사실적 나비를 디자인 모티브로 활용함으로써 문화적 특수성에 바탕을 둔 디자인으로 한 걸음 나아가는 계기가 될 것이다.;These days, by the accelerated developments of science and industries and the menaces of war and terror, humans have come to have instinct to recur and nostalgia to nature and thereby many art works and designs with natural objectives have begun to be produced. Also the design in 21st century requires creative products based on cultural speciality of the countries. As the examples, we may easily find the images of the countries from visual expressions or products when we get in touch with the products of so called advanced countries in design i. e. U. S. A. Japan, Germany, France, Italy, countries of Scandinavian peninsular. This study, in such stream of the times, was to express our culture's own originality on clothing design with butterfly that is one of natural thing as the material but limited the boundary to realistic butterflies in folk drawings of the times of Chosun. As for the technique of expression, used digital textile printing for best expression of the fine lines, realistic shapes and peculiar colors of the butterflies in Chosun folk drawings and used diverse materials as materials for printing for diversity of the designs. Thereby this thesis is purposed to grope the products with superior competitiveness in the world market by presenting the realistic butterflies in Chosun folk drawings as motives with cultural value native to Korea and applying them to clothing designs. The study is consist of the study on theoretical background and production of the works. In the study on theoretical background, first, examined butterflies divided by symbolic characters and ecological characters and then analyzed and arranged the morphologic characters classified by the species of the butterflies. Second, to examine the cases of utilization of butterflies appeared in the area of art, collected and analyzed the data divided to butterflies appeared in pure art works and butterflies appeared in designs. Especially, analyzed the cases applied in clothing divided by the method of expression, the morphology, the method of arrangement. Third, to understand design motive for production of the works, first briefly examined about falk drawings and analyzed and studied the symbolic nature and modeling nature of the butterflies in Chosun falk drawings through literatures and photo data. In the production of works, examined about digital textile printing for the processes of development of materials and developed fabric with digital textile printing with motives of realistic butterflies in Chosun falk drawings obtained through earlier theoretical background. Then produced 8 sets of clothing with the fabric. The conclusions through such processes of study are as follows. First, by the new analysis of modeling nature of butterflies in Chosun falk drawings, could divide the butterflies to realistic butterflies and humorous butterflies. And could realize that the modeling nature with the fine lines, realistic morphology and colors elaborately painted based on colors of five directions could be applied to motive for profound and elegant designs. Second, by reproduction of the colors of the old butterflies in Chosun falk drawings as those were using digital textile printing, could express the delicacy of the realistic butterflies in Chosun falk drawings and the sense of colors with the beauty of old antique. Also, used the colors of the butterflies i. e. black, violet, brown, teal blue etc as sub colors on the stage of planning of work design to diversify the works. Third, could obtain printing material with deep and rich senses of colors not the one-dimensional feeling of printing by printing on the materials with patterns or color feeling instead of the white color that was mainly used for material for digital textile printing. Fourth, applied digital textile printing of the butterflies in Chosun falk drawings of the same colors to materials of different textures i. e. twill silk, silk chiffon, velvet, artificial suede, sea-island fiber, silk satin. As the results, soft and splendid image was created on the shiny, smooth silk satin and calm and elegant image on dull twill silk, antique image with feeling of old wall painting on sea-island fiber by the encounter with the rough surface of sea-island fiber, matte and soft image on suede and diverse images with various color feel based on the different lengths of fibers on velour that were sheared in different lengths of fibers respectively thus the area of material expression was enlarged. Fifth, although the realistic butterflies in the Chosun falk drawings were used in common, could give originality and diversity to the works by using in repeated patterns of by free re-compositions of the butterflies to suit to the patterns of each clothing. This study will be an opportunity to go forward one step to the design based on cultural speciality by utilizing the realistic butterflies in Chosun falk drawings in that our culture was infiltrated as design motive having international universality.
