Micro image를 통한 사진적 대상의 발견

Abstract

사진은 발견의 예술이라 한다. 사진에서의 발견은 단지 새로운 소재를 발견하는 것 보다는 사물의 존재나 다른 사물과의 관계 속에서 새로운 의미를 찾아내는 내면적인 의미이다. 평범한 사물 속에서 작가 나름대로의 의미를 찾아내는 것, 항상 보아오던 것에서 미처 느끼지 못했던 아름다움을 찾아내는 것, 그것이 사진을 통한 발견이다. 본 논문에서는 그러한 사진적 발견을 통해 예술이 지향하는 삶의 또다른 가능성을 제시하는데 그 목적을 두며, 그 표현을 위해 가장 일상적이면서도 본 연구자의 정서를 가장 잘 나타낼 수 있는 소재로 물을 선택했다. 흔히 사진적 소재의 물이라 하면 자연 속의 물을 상상하게 된다. 하지만 이 연구에서는 바다처럼 찾아가야만 볼 수 있는 물을 소재로 하지는 않는다. 일상생활 속에서 항상 우리와 함께하고 있는 물을 모티브로 물이 가지는 특성과 개념을 통해 물의 본질을 찾아보려 하며, 그 이미지를 본인의 내적 정서를 통해 삶의 이미지로 재현해 보고자 했다. 내적 심상의 재현에 있어서 먼저 물에 대한 본 연구자의 개인적 기억에 의한 정서를 통해 물에 삶의 의미를 부여하고자 했으며, 바슐라르의 물에 대한 물질적 상상력 이론을 고찰하여 물이 무의식 속에서 상상되어지는 이미지의 상징적인 의미를 통해 물에 투영되는 삶의 심상들을 좀 더 구체화 시킬 수 있었다. 표현의 방식에 있어서는 우리가 그냥 지나치기 쉬운 일상의 물을 접사를 통해 확대하고 단순화시킴으로서 그 속에 내재된 물의 본질을 표현함으로써 대상의 존재감을 새롭게 인식하고, 자연의 질서와 물이 가지는 삶에 대한 은유적 특성을 이해하려 하였으며, 이러한 표현 방식은 사진의 기계적 기록성에 근거한 사진에 내면적 의식세계를 표현해내었던 마이너 화이트의 작품론을 통해 무의식에 따른 영상언어로 표현되어질 수 있었다. 또한 단순화된 물의 이미지에 색채 심리학에 근거한 색을 부여함으로서 본 연구자가 삶에 대해 갖는 내적 정서를 보다 잘 전달시키고자 하였다. 일상의 물을 자세히 관찰하면서 무심히 지나쳤던 작은 것들이 지니는 아름다움을 새삼 깨달을 수 있었다. 그동안 물이라는 존재는 자연 속에서 그 의미를 가졌었다. 하지만 이번 작업을 통해 물은 그것이 물이라는 그 자체만으로 충분히 의미 있는 존재라는 걸 알게 해 주었으며, 그러한 가치관의 변화는 대상의 본질을 인지하는데 있어서 그 상황이나 형태가 중요한 것이 아니라 대상 그 자체가 중요한 것임을 알게 해 주었다. 대상을 바라봄에 있어서 눈높이를 바꿔 그 속의 세상을 들여다본다는 것은 그 존재와 나와의 관계를 새롭게 하는 것이다. 물과 눈높이를 맞추고 그 속에 삶에 대한 심상을 투영함으로서 물과 나. 삶은 동일시되어진다. 본 연구에서 재현되어진 이미지들은 삶에 대한 본인의 의지이기도 했으며, 작품을 분석하고 정리하면서 그 속에 반영된 자의식은 삶의 의미를 다시 한번 생각해보게 하였다. “삶은 희망을 품고 있어서 아름다운 것이다.”;People say that photographs are the art of discovery. The discovery in terms of photographs does not mean to discover only new materials, but it provides the inner meaning to find the new meaning in the existence of objects and the relationship with other objects. It is to find the meaning of the author from common objects, and to find the beauty, which has not been recognized from usual things. The purpose of this thesis presents another possibility of life, which is pursued by art through the photographic discovery. And in order to express it, water was selected for the material, because it is very common, and also it can show the sentiment of this thesis writer. Usually, if we mention of 'water' as the photographic material, we may easily imagine of water in nature. But in this study, it is not the water, which is only found in a location like the sea we should go. This study focuses on the water, which we have in our daily lives. And the essence of water is found through the features and the concept of water, and the image is presented through the inner sentiment of this thesis writer. In presenting the inner mental image, the meaning of life is given to water through the sentiment by personal memory of this researcher, and by considering the theory on water of Bachelard, the images of life, which are reflected on the water, take concrete shapes through the symbolic meanings of images, which are imaginable inside our unconsciousness. In terms of expressing ways, as ordinary water is extended and simplified, the essence of water in it is recognized again, it has been tried to understand metaphorical features. And this kind of expressing methods can be expressed as the image language through Minor White's works, which expressed the world of the inner consciousness. And also, by putting in colors to the image of the simplified water, based on color psychology, this study tried to better deliver the inner sentiment on life. As ordinary water is observed in detail, its beauty was found again. Up to now, water had its meaning inside nature. But through this work, it has told us that water itself is a significant existence, and it has told us that in connection with the change of values, what is important is not the situation or the form, but the object itself. To look at the inside world to refresh the relationship between the existence and me. By putting the eyes on the same level with water and reflecting the image of life, water, me and life become identical. Images, which are presented in this study, are also the will of this researcher, and as the work is analyzed and the self-consciousness, reflected in it, reminds this researcher of the meaning of life once again. “Life is beautiful because it has hope.”
