NIE 학습안 작성 시스템의 설계 및 구현

Abstract

NIE(Newspaper In Education) is useful in fostering information capability, high contemplative faculty, and initiative through newspaper published everyday with new articles, information, and diverse forms in modern society called as information-oriented society. So it receives attention as a future education method. This supports the previous education method entirely depending upon textbooks, pulls everyday events into education, and helps students accept information and knowledge and reproduce them for their study. NIE teaching is considered as an instruction method adequate for information-oriented society in current 7th standard curriculum and the NIE is being more important because many courses introduce contents related to newspaper. In addition, findings on survey by WAN and domestic newspaper publishers have proven that the NIE based education is dffective for assisting student's coursework. However, instructions with NIE have not been carried out actively because of the difficulties of preparing documents, high cost of buying newspapers, narrow point of view and teacher's heavy work. Therefore, this study reflects these necessities and solving problems. So 'NIE Teaching Plan System' is discussed to minimize the obstacles and to improve instructional operation using NIE. NIE Teaching Plan System enables teachers to search and to collect the articles useful in classes at their convenience. Also, they can modify and add information for class activities with NIE Teaching Plan System. And there are functions that teachers can search the articles according to learning subjects and manage learning contents to arrange articles written from various point of views. Therefore, it makes teacher prepare for classes easier in a short time. NIE Teaching Plan System is expected to contribute to generalize the approach to NIE based teaching courseware.;지식 정보화 사회라 명명되는 현대 사회에서 매일 새로운 기사와 논설, 다양한 정보를 제공하는 신문을 통하여 정보화 능력과 고급의 사고력, 그리고 창의력을 키우는 데 도움이 되는 NIE(Newspaper In Education : 신문활용교육)가 미래형 교육 방법으로 주목 받고 있다. 이는 교과서에만 전적으로 의존하던 기존의 교육 방식과 달리 생생한 실제 사건들을 교육 안으로 끌어들여 학생 스스로 정보와 지식을 받아들이고 재생산해낼 수 있는 능력을 키워줄 수 있기 때문이다. 현행 제 7차 교육과정에서는 정보화 시대에 알맞은 교수·학습 방법으로 ‘NIE 수업의 실시’가 명시되어 있고, 다양한 교과에 신문과 연계한 학습 내용을 대폭 반영하고 있어 NIE의 중요성이 한층 부각되고 있다. 또한 세계신문협회(WAN) 및 국내 신문사의 다양한 조사 결과도 NIE의 교육적 효과를 입증하고 있어 그 필요성을 뒷받침하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 교육적 효과와 필요성에도 불구하고, 학교 현장에서는 수업 준비의 어려움, 수업에 사용할 많은 양의 신문 확보와 신문 대금에 대한 비용 부담, 편중된 신문의 논조, 교사의 업무 가중 등의 문제 때문에 NIE 수업이 적극적으로 실시되지 못하고 있다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 이러한 필요성과 문제점을 인식하여, NIE 수업의 방해요인을 최소화하고 개선하는 방안으로 교사의 NIE 수업 준비를 지원하는 ‘NIE 학습안 작성 시스템’을 설계하고 구현하였다. NIE 학습안 작성 시스템은 교사가 수시로 수업에 활용할 신문기사를 검색·스크랩 하고, 그와 함께 학습자에게 제시할 활동 내용을 작성하여 NIE 수업에 이를 바로 활용할 수 있도록 지원한다. 또한 NIE 수업에 다양한 논조의 자료를 이용할 수 있도록 학습주제별 신문기사 조회와 학습안 관리 기능을 제공한다. 이는 수업용 신문자료 수집의 어려움을 덜고, 교사의 NIE 수업 준비 시간을 단축시키며, NIE 수업을 효율적으로 진행하는 데 도움을 주어, NIE의 활성화에 일조할 것으로 기대된다.
