원의 율동성을 응용한 파이프오르간연주복 디자인연구

Abstract

현대사회는 점차 경제적인 수준이 향상되어짐에 따라 여가 생활이 보편화되고 더불어 대중공연예술문화에 대한 관심도 높아져 음악회, 연극, 영화, 오페라, 무용 등 공연예술이 증가하고 일반대중의 관객 수도 급증하게 되었다. 또한 공연내용에 있어서도 각기 다른 장르간의 구분이 모호해지고 서로의 경계를 넘나드는 일이 일반화되어, 여러 장르가 지닌 독특한 요소를 모두 수용하는 창작곡과 실험성 강한 공연들이 대거 등장하고 있다. 이러한 공연예술문화 가운데 의상은 관객들의 시선을 제일 먼저 받게 되고 공연에 부합하는 시각적 상징성을 전달하는 수단인 것이다. 또한 의복의 커다란 기능인 표현적 기능과 도구적 기능을 모두 포함하는 역할성이 분명한 의복으로 분류되어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공연예술에서의 무대의상, 그 중에서도 특히 연주복의 중요성을 인식하고 그에 따른 기능적이고 미적 특성이 겸비된 연주복을 연구하고자 한다. 여러 악기 중 연주자의 팔과 다리의 동작범위가 큰 파이프 오르간 악기의 특성을 고려하여, 악기의 구조적 특징을 살펴보고 그에 따른 연주복의 기능성을 중점적으로 연구하였다. 이러한 기능적 요소와 더불어 디자인의 방향은 현대적인 파이프오르간 창작곡에 어울리는 디자인으로 이전의 클래식한 모드와는 전혀 다른 현대적 감각의 새로운 조형미을 표현하였다. 문양과 실루엣은 표현이 자유로운 원을 모티프로 하여 반복과 형태 변화로 재해석하여 디자인에 응용하였다. 대중예술문화에 있어 기존의 획일화되고 정형화된 연주복 디자인에서 탈피하여 21세기 현대사회의 새로운 기류에 맞는 역할성과 기능성, 실용성 등의 물리적인 가치와 더불어 독창성을 겸비한 연주복 디자인을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 방법 및 내용으로, 먼저 이론적 배경으로서 공연 예술 의상인 연주복의 개념과 역할을 살펴보고, 현대 대중문화예술의 특징과 그에 따른 의상도 알아보았다. 문헌 고찰에서 수집한 자료를 바탕으로 파이프 오르간의 역사와 배경 및 파이프 오르간의 구조적 특성을 살펴보고, 연주복의 변천사와 파이프 오르간 연주복의 기능적 특성 등을 분석해 보았다. 또한 조형적으로 표현이 자유로운 원의 개념 및 특성도 살펴보았다. 위와 같은 이론적 배경을 바탕으로, 조형의 기본인 원의 모티프를 문양으로 하여 파이프오르간 악기의 연주 형태에 따른 기능성을 살린 총 8점의 연주복을 제작하였으며 이를 통하여 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조형적으로 표현이 자유로운 원은 반복과 형태변화로 율동성을 나타내어 기존의 고정된 디자인에서 벗어나 파이프 오르간 연주복의 기능성에 맞는 형태와 문양을 표현하기에 적합하였다. 둘째, 모티브와 디자인 표현에 있어서의 의상 장식기법으로 사용한 스팽글 자수와 비딩, 스티칭자수 기법은 원의 조형적 성격을 강화시키는 효과가 있었다. 셋째, 파이프 오르간 악기의 구조상 신체 중 다리의 사용으로 인한 스커트의 가운데 갈라지는 기존의 획일적인 디자인에서 벗어나 다양한 형태의 스커트 디자인을 원의 조형성을 응용하여 표현할 수 있었고, 더불어 연주복의 미적 특성을 부각시킬 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 제작한 연주복은 단순히 시각적인 아름다움에 그친 디자인이 많았던 과거의 연주복과는 개념이 다른, 악기의 특성과 연주자세를 고려한 기능적인 측면을 기본으로 하면서, 한편 디자인적인 측면에서는 조형적으로 자유롭게 표현할 수 있는 원의 문양을 현대적으로 재해석하여 표현하였다. 이러한 특징들을 살린 연주복은 연주자의 개성과 독창성을 전달하는데 알맞았다. 이에 본 연구는 앞으로 더욱 다양해지고 대중화 될 공연문화예술의 한 부분을 구성하는 연주복 분야에 진보적인 역할이 되기를 바란다.;As the economy grows more in mordern society, people have more chance to spend time with their own interest. So public performances and public art culture become ubiquitously. For example, music concert, play, opera, cinema and dance have been increased dramatically. Besides of these common performance, somewhat unique and trial performances are shown more often these days for satisfying people's demand. These performances seems to be limitless. The costume of public performances is one of the most important elements shown to the audiences and also it becomes a visual symbol of communicaiton. The costume of the performer is categorized to special clothes, which play a role as artistic presentation and functional tools of performance. For that reason, the costume has been always stood in the spotlight of the public performances. In this research, the importance of the player's costumes especially on the stage costume will be reviewed with the focusing on the pipe organ player's costume. A pipe organ player uses both of their hands and legs together and his/her movements are generally large. This paper will exhibit the functional property of performer's costume regarding the structural property of the pipe organ. Design and sihouette were motivated by the circle in freedom of expression and applied by repetition and shape variation. With the functional property, the design consideration of the research points on a line of beauty, organic form, and splendor design patterns with the new approaches. This approach also focuses on the functionality and utility of the new trend of 21st centuries sublated the previous typical and fixated approaches. For the backgrounds of the research, the theoretical and historical facts of the concept and specificity of the circle with free expression in shape are revisited. And the concept and property of public performance costume will be followed. The various aspects of the pipe organ are also presented: history, backgrounds, structural property and the functional feature for costumes for the pipe organ player. With the theoretical backgrounds, the 8 player costumes were made regarding the functional aspect of a pipe organ with the motif : lines and patterns of based shape 'circle' and come to the three conclusion which follow. 1. The circle in freedom of expression represents rhythm by repetition and shape variation. It makes design and shape fit activity of pipe organ players costume. 2. Spangle embroidery, beading and stitching embroidery represent freely various circular design and shape. 3. The circle in freedom of expression were applied to various style of skirts and emphasized the own beauty of costume. This research approaches the functional aspect of the stage costume as well as the artistic beauty of costume. This aspect was ignored or could be paid a relative little attention in designing the performance costume. As a aspect of design, it expresses more modern design of circle, which is symbolyzed as freedom. The functional property, playing carriage is considered for the individual personality and creativity of the player. Therefore, I wish this research gives a progressive consideraton of various public performance costume design.
